Chapter 79
Carlton's P.o.v
The air was thick and heavy with our anticipation, tinged with an electric buzz that set my senses on high alert. I had already transformed into my own beast, shedding the constraints of my human form. In this shape, I felt an exhilarating blend of power and freedom; my jet black fur melded seamlessly into the shadows around me, making me a phantom in the night. As I crouched low, against the hard, cool ground, the world seemed sharper, more vivid. The rustle of leaves and the distant howl of the wind whispered secrets only I could understand. My instincts screamed for action — my plans had changed, and I was ready to embrace the chaos that awaited. There was no turning back now. Every heartbeat pulsed with the thrill of the hunt, and I was more than ready to unleash my true self. The night was alive, and so was I.
I wasn’t about to recklessly charge into battle, blindly throwing myself at the enemy. No, this time it was different. I had a strategy in mind. It wasn’t just about fighting my hardest against my brothers' men but choosing the right moments to strike and ensuring that my actions had purpose. The stakes were high, and I was determined to make every move count. The clueless fool actually had humans rallying to fight on his behalf! They wouldn't stand a chance against my men for long. After hours of intense training, we had mastered strategies that would truly catch anyone off guard and leave them in awe.
But no, I had a new plan brewing in my mind that made my heart race with excitement. I would skirt around the edge of the forest, moving silently and stealthily, like a shadow flitting through the twilight. The tall trees would whisper their secrets above me as I navigated their tangled roots, each step calculated and deliberate. This was my chance to get closer to the castle and draw nearer to my brother's whore, whose enchanting presence had always silently captivated me. But Kieran wasn't to know that!
To hell with her! I was going to kill her! And that unborn brat of hers. Would I make it quick and merciful? Hell no! I craved excitement, and I was determined to stretch every moment of it to the fullest. I would take my time, drawing out the experience until it felt long, slow, and agonising for her. After all, it was nothing less than what she deserved. In the deepest depths of my thoughts, a darker plan began to take shape. I pictured Elena, tied and gagged to the bed, helpless and desperately trying to plead for their life, while I proceeded to cut her unborn baby from her belly and slice its tiny little newborn throat right in front of her eyes. That is, of course, if she managed to hold on through all that blood loss.
I glanced beside me, the moonlight casting shadows on the forest floor. Davina stood patiently at my side, her wolf form an unassuming shade of grey. There was nothing remarkable about her appearance, mirroring her human self in its simplicity. While my men towered with power and poise, embodying strength with every ripple of their muscles, Davina’s wolf felt almost delicate in comparison. Yet, there was a quiet resilience in her stance that caught my attention. Perhaps strength wasn't solely defined by physical prowess. I found myself intrigued by her calm demeanour, waiting silently as if she held untapped potential beneath her unassuming exterior.
Her instructions were clear. 'Stay away from the fight and get to the castle. Take out Elena's henchwomen and pave the way for my arrival.' I was determined to keep my girl safe at all costs. My mind was already racing with a new plan for Davina. I smiled as I thought of my one true soulmate: Mateo. Memories flooded my mind, taking me back to the day I first laid eyes on him at the tender age of twelve. He was tucked away in the shadows of an old orphanage, a world away from the laughter of the other happy, playful children. His reputation preceded him; the whispers of his brutish ways echoed through the halls like an ominous melody.
But when I saw him, something deep within me stirred. There was a wildness in his eyes, a flicker of an untamed spirit that called to me. In that moment, I sensed he was different, misunderstood perhaps, but profoundly special. I felt an undeniable pull, a conviction that he needed my help, and I was determined to uncover the heart behind the facade. What I didn’t know was that this encounter would change the course of both our lives forever. Under the cover of night, I slipped out of the castle, determined to help Mateo break free from the orphanage for good. They thought he had simply run away, and no one cared enough to search for him. Little did they know, he would soon find refuge in the hidden wine cellar rooms beneath our castle. It was there, in those shadowy depths, that our bond blossomed. I spent my teenage years nurturing our friendship, forging a connection that would last a lifetime, all while keeping him safe and hidden from the world above.
Now, fully grown and brimming with potential, I had successfully whisked him away from under Kieran's watchful gaze, hiding him in the stables of my castle. Mateo was no longer just a secret; he was my ally, my ace in the hole. With determination gleaming in his eyes, he was ready to help me reclaim the crown that was rightfully mine. Together, we would rise from the shadows and take back what was lost. The time for action was upon us, and with Mateo by my side, I could almost taste victory in the air, and together, we would destroy my enemies. Once the battle had been won, I'd prove my loyalty to Mateo and let him feed off Davina and suck the slut dry.
That would be my present to him once she was no longer needed.
