Chapter 47: Honeymoon.

Dahlia.

'I can do it...' I whispered, tremors of uncertainty accompanying my voice.

' You can do it, Dahlia...' I added, my hold tightening around the pendant, my eyes glossed by emotions all too hard to accurately name, but determination topped.

" You are up." Maybe I was too lost, thinking about the gem pendant and what it entailed that I didn't even notice when Dalton approached, and it was not until he spoke next to my ear that I snapped out of it.

"huhuh." I squeezed out as I turned to face him, but I spun too quickly and I directly fell into his arms.

Now, my head was resting on his chest, my eyes peering at him from there. He was looking down at me, his eyes dark and stormy, and when our gazes locked, I had a pressing urge to avert mine..

Those deep and mesmerising eyes took me to our first night, the previous night.... How they had redened with desires, how deep they had been when he gripped my waist, when he took me..

The thought of it had heat creeping into my cheeks, and I looked away, desperately looking for somewhere to hide my face.

He and I weren't so familiar with each other after all, and the shyness was to be expected, especially when I recalled how hard I had moaned his name, how desperately I had been calling him, I was literally looking for somewhere to hide my face, or to disappear, if possible..

Dalton wouldn't let me, though. He directly cupped my face before he locked his lips with mine.

The kiss was deep and deliberate, and he kissed me until my body was burning with that now familiar sensation, the need, the throb in between my legs... heavens, I couldn't understand the person that I was becoming at all.

My body was still painful, and yet, the temptation was irresistible. So, Dalton and I ended up making love once again, his movements slow and unhurried, as if he wanted every second of it to burn into me, and it did, so much that I found my hands delicately wrapped around his neck, soft and sensual moans escaping from my lips as our bodies moved in perfect sync.

The smell of pleasure and satisfaction filtered through the air, punctuated by moans, groans, and the sound of skin slamming against skin, as the world around us faded and all we could feel was each other.

By the time we were done, our skins were glistening with sweat and satisfaction as we lay sprawled on the bed, and I saw a faint, almost adoring smile on Dalton's lips as he gazed at me, as if I were the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

After all that intensity, I could barely lift a limb, and Dalton ended up carrying me to the bathroom.

The warm and soothing bath didn't magically erase all the pain and fatigue, but I felt much better after soaking in it for nearly thirty minutes.

After bathing me, Dalton left me to soak in while he stepped out of the room, probably to answer a call? I didn't know.

Later, I was about to push myself up when he showed up, holding two towels.

Looking at the national treasure, the one-in-a-lifetime genius, a multi-billionaire, famously known for being very cold and ruthless, now meticulously taking care of me, carefully drying my hair, I fell into a daze, tears welling at the corners of my eyes.

It turns out, in the past, I hadn't known what love truly was until I met and married Dalton. The few experiences that I had with him, just for the few days we had been together, made the years I had wasted on Jason feel like a joke.

"You must be starving. I brought something for you." After he was done drying my hair, Dalton motioned towards the bed, and as if on cue, my stomach growled, and once again, I was literally wishing I could just disappear. Heat crept into my cheeks in pink shades, and I looked away, only to catch a faint, almost invisible smile on his lips. Damn perfect!

After that, he didn't say anything, he carried me to the bed, where a huge food tray was placed on a bamboo foldable mini table.

The last time I had a meal was probably over twenty-four hours ago, so when I saw the food, all the embarrassment burned off as I began eating. I wasn't about to let anything come between me and my food.

" Thank you." After eating, I gently patted my stomach as I whispered, a satisfied smile tugging at the corner of my lips. The food was to my liking and I felt so much better after eating.

" If the pendant is giving you a lot of pressure, you don't have to wear it. But keep it with you." I was in the middle of wiping my hands with the wet disposable towel when Dalton expressed and I froze in place, my gaze growing complicated.

He noticed...

" Is that even an option? " I asked, more to myself than to him.

" You are my wife, now. My family is a little complicated. When I gave you the pendant, I didn't mean to put you under pressure.." He whispered, his gaze deep and unfathomable as he looked at me.

At his words, confusion framed my features, together with hesitation. In the past, I had prided myself on being well informed about the rich circles and the skeletons in their closets, but after Dalston's words, I wasn't so sure anymore.

" I don't want you to live under constant pressure, and you don't need to prove your worth to anyone, either." Once again, he added, and this time, I directly wrapped my arms around his.

The last time I checked, I had to act like a different person for Jason to like me, and even then, I didn't succeed.

Now, Dalton only wanted me to be myself.... How could I not be moved?

" Just do whatever you like and leave the rest to me." He added while he gently massaged my back, and my nose stung.

" Also, we will be flying to our honeymoon location tomorrow, wifey.."

" Save your energy."
