Chapter 40

Shawna POV

After Alex opened my door, I kissed Bill goodbye. I went in through the back door of the café. I never liked walking into the front door when I was going to work. I would get overwhelmed at seeing how busy we were. This way I could clock on and prepare myself for the night. I was working from one to ten tonight. I knew it was long hours; however, it was always fun when I worked with Alex and Linny. Linny always had a positive attitude, no matter how the night was going. I got the bucket of empty salt shakers and put them in the washed water. In between customers, I would wash them, let them air dry, and then refill them.

After doing that, I went out to the sitting area. It was Saturday night. Families were coming in from swimming and shopping. The mothers were too tired to cook, or they wanted a night off from cooking. All but three tables were full. I thought that I recognized one of the girls who hung out in the clubhouse, but I did not have time to talk to her. Her table was Linnys', so I wouldn't have a chance to get over to her. My side of the café was full, and we had more people coming in. The captain of the football team and his friends always sat in my section of the sitting area. I had no idea why he would. But he did. He gave me the creeps.

He was looking at me with lust in his eyes, which drove me insane. I never liked him. The last time he tried touching me, I kicked him in the nuts. I never wanted anything to do with him; all the girls thought that I was crazy. But I did not care. I wanted to get a scholarship so I could go to nursing school. I did not have time for dating in school. But fate intervened. I'm mated to the leader of a biker gang, and I'm a werewolf. If they only knew that I was one. I had no idea if they were werewolves as well. People did not advertise that.I walked over to the table.

"Hey, Connor."

"Shawna, how are you?"

"I'm fine."

It wasn't as if he really cared about me that way. I believe that he was trying to make small talk. He hasn't had a girlfriend in a very long time. They broke up because she caught him cheating on her. He ordered what he always orders: a hamburger with onion rings and a chocolate shake. That was what he always ordered. It was scary how I could remember everyone's favorites. I had a memory like that. I can remember things that most people would forget. I finished taking everyone's order, then put it up in the window.

I turned around to go back to waiting on the tables when I ran into that girl that I knew was from the clubhouse.

" Can I help you?"

" No, but Bill wants to see you."

" Oh Ok."

It sounded strange, but the look on her face told me that it was urgent. I looked where Rabbit and Big Dog were supposed to be. They were not there. So I assumed that they had gone to tend to whatever Bill needed them to attend to. We went out the front door, as usual. The next thing I knew, I was knocked out. I woke up in the car, with a man sitting on my left and another on my right. They had guns pointed at me.

" Corporate and nothing will happen to you."

I knew they were lying. You don't kidnap someone from their place of employment without the intention of hurting them. I knew that these men were not Bills. If they were, they would not be doing this. In fact, they would be making sure I was safe. I managed to get my phone out and call Bill. I wasn't able to speak to him directly. But I started yelling.

"LET ME GO."

" SHUT UP, YOU BITCH."

He then slapped me hard across the face. He hit me so hard, I'm sure that someone could hear it from a mile away. It was sad that a man would treat a woman like this. But it does not surprise me because I knew who was behind it. It was that girl. I knew that there was something between her and Bill. What the relationship was, I had no idea. When we got to the warehouse, there was a chair in it, and she was waiting. I was carried kicking and screaming to the chair. Dumped in the chair and chained to it with silver chains. The chains burned when they touched my skin.

She slapped me across the face. As if being hit earlier wasn't enough, she had to hit me again.

" You bitch, what makes you so special?"

" What do you mean?"

" I was supposed to be Luna of the pack."

Had no idea what she was talking about. Being the Luna of the pack was something that I had no idea about. All I knew was that Bill was my mate. I knew he was the leader of the MC. I had no idea about pack things. I was not raised in this life. I only wanted to marry Bill and live a happy life.

" I have no idea what you are talking about."

She pulled a gun out of her pocket on the back of her pants.

"This gun has silver bullets in it."

" This will kill you in one shot."

" Shoot me then."

She punched me in the stomach. I started to cough from getting hit in the stomach. Just then, Bill showed up wearing shorts. Her men started to approach him.

" I did not know that your ex was a werewolf. "

He was her ex then. That was before me. I could not get upset about it. I did not know him before almost a week ago. Her reaction was surprising.

" So what?"

Her attitude towards the situation was not right. She was acting like if she killed me, then he would be with her. I had a feeling that if she did anything, he would kill her.

" I gave you silver bullets, and you can kill him with those. "

The look on his face was almost as if he did not care.

" Are you really going to kill me?"

She doesn't seem to plan on killing him. She is after me. I knew people did crazy things for love. But Bill doesn't love her. He doesn't want to be with her.

" I'm going to kill her, then you if you try to stop me."

While they were arguing back and forth, I noticed that the wolves had moved around behind everyone, and nobody was paying attention to them. When Lottie looked behind her, Bill lunged at her and had her on the ground.

"How dare you touch my mate?"

" I'm going to kill her."

Bill pulled the trigger.
