Chapter 18
Selina felt the presence behind her stir, her heart racing and fear shooting through her veins. Thoughts of escape raced through her mind as she struggled to maintain regular breathing. However, before she could act, she felt a hand cover her eyes, blinding her and giving her a sudden, terrifying feeling.
A voice whispered softly in her ear, "Shh, it's okay," giving her chills. "Just relax and go back to sleep."
Selina's body went rigid with strain as she pushed herself to remain still, even though her instincts were screaming at her to fight back. She was aware that she had to maintain her calmness and wait for a chance to run.
With every comforting word spoken by the mysterious person behind her, Selina found herself becoming more and more drowsy. She tried not to go to sleep, but the reassuring words and soft touch lulled her into sleepiness.
Selina's mind slid into a restless slumber, full of broken dreams and whispered promises of protection, as sleep took her again. She also couldn't get rid of the sensation that she was being watched and that there was danger waiting around the corner as she gave in to the darkness.
As Selina stirred awake the next morning, she couldn't shake the lingering unease that clung to her like a shadow. The events of the previous night felt like a hazy dream, but the familiar voice and the persistent feeling of fear lingered in her mind, refusing to be dismissed.
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, Selina sat up in bed, her thoughts swirling with confusion and apprehension. She glanced around her room, searching for any signs of the unsettling presence that had haunted her dreams.
As her gaze fell upon the bedside table, Selina's breath caught in her throat. The water glass that she had left there the night before wasn't in the same position she left it. A chill ran down her spine as she realized that someone had truly been in her room while she slept.
Selina's mind raced with a million questions. Who had been in her room? How had they gotten in? And most importantly, why? Why her?
With a sense of dread knotting in her stomach, Selina knew she couldn't ignore the signs any longer. Whatever had happened last night was all too real, and she needed to find out the truth before it was too late. Gathering her courage, she resolved to confront the unsettling presence that seemed to lurk just beyond the edges of her consciousness.
Selina called Amara and told her “SOS”. Amara knew that as a sign to rush over to her friend's house immediately.
As Selina and Amara sat at the kitchen table, Amara listened intently as Selina explained her decision to move.
"I just don't feel safe here anymore, Amara," Selina confessed, her voice filled with anxiety. "After what happened last night, I can't shake this feeling of unease. I need to get away from here. New house or something.”
Amara nodded sympathetically, reaching out to place a comforting hand on Selina's arm. "I completely understand, Selina," she said reassuringly. "Your safety is the most important thing. Have you thought about where you want to go?"
Selina sighed, running a hand through her hair in frustration. "I haven't really figured that out yet," she admitted. "I just know that I can't stay here any longer. I'll start looking for a new place as soon as possible."
Amara nodded in understanding, offering Selina a supportive smile. "I'll help you with your search," she said firmly. "We'll find you a safe and comfortable place to live, I promise."
Selina's eyes brightened with gratitude as she turned to her friend. "Thank you, Amara," she said sincerely. "I don't know what I would do without you.”
Amara smiled warmly, her eyes shining with sincerity. "You don't have to do anything alone, Selina," she said. "I'll be right here by your side every step of the way."
As Selina and Amara continued to talk, Felix watched their conversation unfold through the surveillance monitor with a mixture of amusement and fascination. He found Selina's obliviousness to the danger lurking around her both amusing and intriguing.
"Such innocence," he mused to himself, a sly smile playing at the corners of his lips. "She has no idea what's coming for her."
Felix watched as Selina and Amara discussed their plans to move, his mind already formulating a plan to insert himself into Selina's life as her new neighbor.
"I'll be Selina's new neighbor," he murmured to himself, a calculating glint in his eyes. "That way, I can keep a close eye on her and ensure that she's always within my reach.” He relished the thought of being close to her, of watching her every move from just a few feet away.
"I'll be seeing you soon, Selina," Felix whispered to himself, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "And when I do, you'll be mine.”
After putting his plan into action, Felix thrilled with anticipation. He was eager to become a regular presence in Selina's life and to be close to her at all times. He could also see that his strategy was going to work as he watched Selina and Amara carry on with their talk.
The next day, after looking at a few rental homes, Selina eventually came across a charming home that drew her attention. She sat across from the landlord in his office and paid close attention as he described the property in detail.
"So, as I mentioned earlier, my family and I are planning to emigrate," the landlord explained, his tone tinged with sadness. "We're looking to sell the house, and we're willing to offer it to you at a very low price."
Selina's eyes widened in surprise at the unexpected offer. "Really?" she exclaimed, unable to hide her excitement. "That's incredibly generous of you."
The landlord smiled warmly. "We just want to ensure that the house goes to someone who will appreciate it," he said kindly. "And from what I've seen, you seem like the perfect fit."
Selina felt a rush of gratitude towards the landlord as she shook his hand. "Thank you so much," she said earnestly. "I promise to take good care of the house."
As Selina signed the paperwork and finalized the purchase, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief knowing that she had found a safe and permanent place to call home.
Meanwhile, in his surveillance room, Felix watched the exchange between Selina and the landlord with a smirk. His plan to become her neighbor was falling into place perfectly.
"Well, well, well," he muttered to himself, a sense of satisfaction evident in his voice. "Looks like I'll be seeing a lot more of you, Selina."
With a satisfied grin, Felix settled back in his chair, eagerly anticipating the moment when he buys the house next to hers and finally introduce himself to his new neighbor.
