Chapter 13
Selina woke up pretty early at her new apartment to get ready for work. She was so thrilled to start her internship today that she prepared everything she needed for today the night before so she won't forget anything.
After showering and dressing up, Selina rushed to the office to avoid being late. On getting there, she greets the receptionist decides takes the elevator to her floor where her office is. As the elevator was about closing, a hand stuck out and stopped it from closing.
“Who's about making me late now?” she murmured to herself.
Surprise wad evident on Selina's face as Felix walked in. She wasn't that surprised given that it's his company she was working in, but more surprised that on her first day, she was riding the elevator with him.
“Good morning Selina” Felix greeted as he stepped in. His intention is to charm her until she falls for him and that's what he intends to stick to for the main time.
“Good morning Felix” Selina greeted back. Felix clicked the floor he was going to and the elevator door closed. Before the door closed though, Selina caught glimpses of other employees staring at her with shock evident on their face and she wondered what it was about.
The elevator jolted to a sudden stop, plunging them into darkness, and Selina couldn't help but gasp in surprise. "What's happening?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with unease as she fearfully reached out for support.
Felix, though inwardly frustrated by the sudden malfunction, maintained a calm posture, wrapping an arm around Selina protectively. "It seems we're experiencing a technical difficulty," he explained smoothly, his voice steady despite the rising panic in his chest. "But don't worry, Selina. I'll make sure you're safe."
Selina nodded, her heart racing as she held onto Felix for support. "What do we do now?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as they stood in the darkness of the elevator.
Though his thoughts were constantly racing with options, Felix maintained his composure, wanting to keep Selina calm. He reached for the panel's emergency button and said, "We'll try calling for help." They were shocked to discover that the button was useless leaving them stranded in the dark and unable to get help.
When Selina tried to reach out to Felix, her phone fell out of her hand and hit the floor, breaking the screen. “My phone isn't with me. It fell and I can't see it at the moment.”
Felix smiled inwardly, his plans unraveling before his eyes. "It seems we're out of luck," he remarked, though his mind raced with happiness of being in the same space with Selina.
Selina's eyes widened with concern as she realized their situation. "What about your phone?" she asked, turning to Felix with a hopeful expression. But to her surprise, he shook his head, feigning innocence as he lied about not bringing it with him.
"I must have left it behind," he replied smoothly, "But don't worry, Selina. I'll make sure we find a way out of here."
Felix tried to reassure Selina, but she was unable to get rid of the uneasiness that had settled up in the pit of her stomach.
Never one to stay in confined areas for too long, Selina's heart raced with anxiety as the silence made her own breathing sound louder. "Felix, do you think they'll come soon?" she said, reaching out for his hand while her voice trembled with doubt.
Felix gave her a comforting squeeze on the hand, his touch providing a small amount of solace amidst the darkness. "I'm sure they're doing everything they can to get us out of here," he answered, maintaining his composure in the face of the tension.
As they waited for rescue, the minutes stretched into what felt like an eternity, each passing moment filled with a palpable sense of anticipation. Selina's mind raced with questions, her thoughts turning to the uncertain future that awaited them outside the confines of the malfunctioning elevator.
"Felix, what if they can't get us out?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she voiced her deepest fears.
Felix turned to her, his gaze softening with concern. "Don't worry, Selina," he reassured her, his voice filled with quiet confidence. "We'll find a way out of here, I promise."
Felix tried to distract her by reaching out and touching her face, turning it to face him. Even in the dark, he could define her features perfectly. The way her eyes were filled with fear made him happy in a way that was scary.
But the voices of the securities grew louder and the elevator doors finally creaked open, stopping Felix from doing what was on his mind. Selina's nerves began to ease, replaced by a sense of relief at the prospect of escape. She glanced over at Felix, her heart fluttering with gratitude for his presence by her side.
"Thank you, Felix," she said softly, her voice filled with genuine warmth. "For being here with me."
Felix met her gaze, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "It was my pleasure, Selina," he replied, his voice agitated due to being cut off. "I'll always be here to protect you."
Felix's stare seemed hard under the strong glare of the ceiling lights, the typical charm replaced by a look of disinterest. His abrupt change in attitude left Selina feeling a little confused and unsure of how to understand his actions.
"Are you alright, Miss Nash?" one of the rescue team members asked, their voice filled with concern as they ushered her out of the elevator.
Selina nodded, offering a shaky smile. "Yes, thank you," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper as she stepped out into the hallway. But her thoughts lingered on Felix, her mind swirling with questions about his true intentions.
Felix's eyes followed Selina as they made their way across the busy lobby, his mind racing with ideas of how to make himself known to her. He watched her every move, studying her responses and reactions as he planned his next move in this dangerous game of his want and desore..
In the shadow of his mind, Felix played out scenarios in which he was in complete control of Selina's actions, where she would be completely dependent on him and powerless to defy him. He was consumed by his need to own her and shape her into the ideal little lady, pushing him to boundaries he never would have imagined.
Selina's emotional fluctuations toward Felix intensified and she found herself struggling with conflicting feelings every time she was around him. “Do I like him?” She asked herself, and still, she couldn't find answers.
Meanwhile, Selina's phone had been found to be completely damaged during the elevator incident, leaving her feeling even more unsettled. "I can't believe this happened," she exclaimed in frustration, holding up her cracked phone.
Later that evening, as Selina prepared to leave work, she was surprised to see Felix waiting by the door already for her. "Selina, I was wondering if you'd like to join me for dinner tonight," he said casually, his tone inviting.
Selina hesitated, feeling a flush of embarrassment under the tense gazes of her colleagues. "Um, sure," she replied shyly, her cheeks flushing pink as she glanced around nervously.
Despite her hesitation, Selina eventually got into the car with Felix, her heart pounding with a mixture of excitement and nervousness. As they drove to the restaurant, the atmosphere between them crackled with tension. Selina's mind drifted to certain times they've been together and how charming he was towards her and her feelings overwhelmed her on how she felt towards him.
