Chapter 17: Mistrust
Next morning I wake up still tired,this weekend was busy compared to normal ones. I sit up in bed,I stretch and yawn,put on a slipper and go to the bathroom,do the morning and return to bed,but I find myself with Matew,he was reading the newspaper on a couch that was near the bed.
-What's up Matew,what is this invasion?
-I came to help you with a few things. Good morning.
He smiles and I get serious, then he goes gathering my things and putting them on the bed.
-Is that so?
-Yes, I have to take you home ( unfortunately ), tomorrow you have to work and I don't want to be the one to blame you for losing your job.
-True, I forgot tomorrow's already Monday.
I throw myself on the bed and close my eyes, I was so tired I could hibernate for a month without any problems.
-I can imagine how tired you are, and for me you would sleep late, but I'm afraid of the consequences.
-I'll see if Olivia can take my place for tomorrow, I'll rest today, come back tomorrow and stay at my post on Tuesday.
-If I get one more day, I'll buy you an ice cream.
-Don't test my powers of persuasion Mr. Matew "smile".
-Never, but a little ice cream always comes at a good time.
-True.
I pick up my cell phone and call Olivia, after a long time she answers.
Connection:
-Hello?
-Good morning Olivia, how are you?
- Manager. Good morning, and how's the conference there?
-Yes, it's me, sorry for calling so early.
It's nice here and that's why I wanted to ask you a favor?
-Don't tell me it's to invent a lie for Hugo? The two of them are going to fight over you?.
-I need you to be the boss in my place tomorrow, I'm a little busy, I can't come back until tomorrow afternoon.
-Okay, but can I text you about everything tomorrow? I'm afraid I'll do something wrong, and there are things that need your signature.

asks Matew laughing and shaking his head negatively.

-That's fine. I'll let you rest and have them bring your coffee, then after lunch there's ice cream.

He leaves smiling and I find this nonsense funny.
After a few minutes my coffee arrived, I ate, slept a little more, then took a shower and went to lunch, after lunch we had ice cream and went to throw food to the fish in a small pond nearby.
-I never wanted to have a daughter, Matew.
-I was never the type of person to choose what I wanted, whatever was good for me.
-If you weren't obsessed with me, would you be looking for a new wife?
-No, my wife passed away a short time ago, there's no way. But who told you that I have an obsession with you?
-Me and Olivia imagined it, let's say you've been after me without pause.
-Yeah, I'm persistent, but not the obsessive kind.

-Let's say we have a unique bond, we're connected for reasons that at the moment you won't and don't need to know, but we're united by the same purpose.

I just laughed, he wasn't the kind of crazy guy who talks nonsense, but he was sounding like one right now.
We spent a quiet afternoon,at night I went to sleep and the next day was almost like the previous one,only the difference was that I actually went to pack my things and left. Matew dropped me off at home and after that everything went back to normal,except for all the contracts and jobs that the studio got because of Matew's little help.
The week went by and the weekend was a little trip with Hugo,which was amazing,then we went back to living normally and some things seemed to have changed,like him always receiving calls that I couldn't hear,or me seeing some underwear inside his car,cell phone with a password and him always disappearing and appearing as if nothing had happened.
Today was Sunday and he received his normal calls,went to the bathroom and forgot his cell phone on the couch,no password so I decided to peek,there was an open conversation with another woman,he was calling her love,sweetheart and treating her with immense affection,so I just turned off the screen and pretended I had never seen anything.
But this did not last until Friday,because on Tuesday I was filling Matew with messages and demanding a lunch break at work,he accepted and so it was.
I arrive at the site and he was already,I sit down and soon ordered lunch.
-What happened?
-I need to talk ...
-Just to say, darling, what I can do for you.
-I think Hugo is cheating on me.
-Who? -My boyfriend, Hugo.
-My boyfriend, Hugo.
-How do you know that?
-I saw a conversation on his cell phone, he's been different this last month, I don't know what to think, I'm going crazy, could he be capable of that, he promised me so many things and betray me?
-Calm down Helena, a conversation doesn't always mean anything, get proof and then we can try to resolve the situation.
-But I want to solve it now, Matew, this has been eating me up since Sunday.
-But you have to be smart, you can't accuse anyone without proof, and without proof he could lie to you, fool you, play innocent?
