Chapter 117: 117. Rain - Talk
Hours later, Caleb and I are still in bed. Touching each other. Loving each other. Learning how to be together once more.
He lies on his back while I rest against him, tucked beneath his left arm, my leg draped across his thighs. A blanket covers our naked bodies. I keep running my fingers along his chest while he plays with a couple of loose strands of my hair.
We haven’t spoken for several minutes, but not all the time words are needed. Sometimes, silence is good.
And right now, my body is still humming with how many times we fucked this morning. We are… insatiable.
I am insatiable.
Being with him is so easy, so perfect, so right.
He makes me feel seen, heard, safe, loved.
“This is supposed to be our free day, but I have some things to tell you,” Caleb says, breaking the silence. He swallows hard. “Important things.”
I tilt my head up, looking at him. His face is a blur, but if I concentrate enough, I can catch a glimpse of his silver eyes. “What’s wrong?” His scent changes, and I know he’s worried. Very, very worried. My stomach plummets. “Is… Are you in any danger?”
He presses his forehead to mine. “What if you are the one in danger?”
I shrug my left shoulder. “As long as you are safe…” My voice trails off.
He grabs my chin, making sure my gaze is fixed on his face as he says, “You are the most important. Your safety comes first. Always. Yours and Sky’s,” Caleb says, his tone serious, determined. “I will never let anyone hurt my family.”
This male.
He’s everything I’ve always wanted.
I press my palm against his cheek. “And I won’t let anyone hurt you or our daughter,” I promise back. “Now, tell me what’s wrong. I don’t want any secrets between us.”
“There will be none,” he reassures me. He leans against the headboard and pulls me into his lap. “I’m a Primal Wolf,” he reveals.
I tilt my head to the side. “What’s a Primal Wolf?”
He explains to me what Tatiana told him about the Primal and Lunaris wolves, as well as the Lunar Realm. He tells me about King Endymion and Lyrielle, Queen Sera’s parents. Lastly, he explains the danger we are in, that Queen Lamia will eventually attack the Diamond Realm.
“No!” I gasp. “We can’t let her destroy this realm,” I cry out in frustration.
Caleb takes my hands in his and kisses the center of my palms. “We won’t. I have already taken precautions and ensured that any portal linking this world to Earth is well-guarded. Plus, I have the Sword of Nightmares. And you are a Lunaris Wolf.”
I chew my bottom lip. “I’m not sure if I know what that means.”
Shadows emerge from his skin, meeting my light, in a rainbow of colors. “It means that you have three Sigma Wolves that will protect you with their lives. It means that you can kick ass, but you need training.”
I shift in his lap so I can straddle him. My palms rest on his shoulders, my lips so close to his, our mouths almost touch. “As long as you are the instructor, I don’t mind training,” I breathe.
His hands cup my ass. “Yeah?”
I nod.
“We could start when you want,” he rasps.
“Not today–it’s our free day,” I remind him.
He presses his lips to the valley between my breasts. “And what do you propose we do? Remain in bed? Or do something else?”
He drags his lips to my nipple, gently sucking it.
My fingers find their way into his hair. Thinking is so hard when he’s distracting me like that. “Something else,” I murmur.
He grunts in disapproval before letting go of my nipple. “If you don’t want me to be inside you in the next five seconds, I suggest you stop shoving your gorgeous tits in my face.”
“Hmmm… how about you tell me what Sigma Wolves mean,” I suggest, while I make no attempt to put an end to his misery.
Is it torture if he likes my tits and I enjoy him looking at them?
I can still feel his gaze on my chest as he explains, “Sigma Wolves are special warrior wolves tasked with protecting Lunaris Wolves.”
I went from being a nobody Omega to a Queen Omega. It feels like I’m living someone else’s life.
“I don’t want to have wolves trailing me wherever I go, but given the recent events, it will be wise to have protection,” I begrudgingly admit. “At least until I learn how to properly use my magic. These Sigma Wolves, where do we find them?”
Caleb chuckles at that. “You already found yours.”
A frown appears between my brows. “I don’t understand.”
His fingers reach for the tattoos on my back. “When you touched Katherine, Esyn, and Kevin,” he basically mutters the last name like it’s something fowl, “you felt pain. That’s your cue that you found your Sigma Wolves. The tattoos appeared after the Protective Bond formed between you and each one of them.”
“Oh… That’s…that’s unexpected.”
“You can say that again,” he keeps muttering. “Kevin! One of your Sigma Wolves,” he huffs. “I don’t think I trust him with your safety.”
I arch an eyebrow. “And why is that? Kevin is a good male.”
“He failed to keep you safe while you were in your old pack.”
I let out a low sigh. “No one knew about… what Alpha Ben did to me. When Jordan rejected me…” I shake my head. “Everything is a blur in my head. It doesn’t matter anymore. My life is with you now.”
“It matters,” Caleb contradicts me. “It will always matter.”
This one topic he and I will never see eye to eye. I understand his anger, because I feel the same when I think of the females who raped him, or Queen Lamia and her son. I want them to pay for what they did to Raven and Caleb.
“If Kevin is one of my Sigma Wolves, it must be for a reason,” I muse. Before he can protest more, I propose, “How about we go on a date?”
For those who have been waiting for updates - I am so sorry for the delays. I have been wondering for a while what to do with this book since it is supposed to be an edit for another book and I kinda want to turn it into something else, but for now it will stay as it is. Next update - Monday :)
