Chapter 21: Chapter 21

SKYLAR

Troy didn't call again that night, so I just stayed home, kissing outdoor activities goodbye.

Mom and I watched Titanic even though we had watched it millions of times. We still felt teary afterwards. She was already getting tissues.

I was going to my room; if I decided to stay for a couple of minutes, the questions would start coming, like “Who is he?” “He looked so familiar,” and “Do you like him? ”.

I locked the door behind me, but even that didn't work because she was knocking the next minute.

"Mom, I am sleeping. ”,

"Sure you are. Open the door, kiddo."

"Arrrgh," I made a loud guttural sound of exasperation.

But I did open the door anyway.

"I saw you went shopping, and I came over to help arrange the closet," Mom said, and I shrugged.

She stayed in the room for some time, and I guess before she was done, I had actually slept off.

The next day when I went into the walk-in closet, I really had my mom to thank. All my old clothes were out; I didn't know where she put them, but they weren't here anymore.

I changed into a jean mini skirt and crop pink basic top. The white block heels that left the back of the feet naked were at the foot of the bed, so I wore them.

For the makeup, I called Nonna, and with her help, my face popped up after an hour.

I was nervous; I didn't really know how the clothes fit, but I was willing to give it a try.

The sound of the horn outside was an indication for me to know that Nina was outside.

"Oh my gosh," she said when I came out of the front door.

She had to come down to her Lexus to see me properly.

"You look..." She was looking for the right word. "New, good, fabulous, everything but not Skylar," she was blabbing, and it really made me laugh.

“Thank you, Nin,” I appreciated, as I swirled; it was a perfect arch, and she was singing the “Go Girl” song.

We hopped on, but we had to get breakfast at the ‘Breakfast and Eat’ cafe by the side of the road.

Once we were done eating, we went to school. Clay came over to talk to Nina, and she excused herself. They were planning for the school musical campaign next week, and Nina was the secretary of the group.

I could hear their gasp as I walked into school, but I only wanted a reaction from just one person, not Tiffany or her minions, but someone else, Troy.

Just as expected, I saw him standing with a group of hockey members, even though they too didn't remember me, because one of them said, "The new transfer student is so hot."

And I chuckled. Were they dummies? Didn't they know I had been around them since they got into college?

I walked up to Troy, trailing my finger from his lips down to his belly button; he didn't say anything, just swallowed hard.

“Remember me, Troy Fisher?” I asked, and he smiled. I was teasing him, and I really liked the look on his face when I did so.

"Aww, so cute," I hinted, blowing a kiss his way before going to class.

"Troy, you didn't tell us you got a new bad bitch," Nick hinted, but it was Max's voice that I was more interested in.

"The new one is hot as shit; I will call dibs.”,

I heard Troy slap him gently on the chest. "Sorry man, she is already taken," he defended, and I smiled; now I was the one going delulu.

When I got to trig class, Nina was already there, and she was holding my hand and pulling out her phone.

“Gosh, I think I was going to black out there."

"Don't worry, you totally ate."

“I don't even know who that was out there."

“That was the beginning of your student president campaign."

"Do you think Tiffany saw?"

"If she didn't, then she is going to."

"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.

“Sit down," she said. "I kind of uploaded your pictures to Instagram, the one from this morning, and you have a thousand views already."

“You are kidding."

But she wasn't done. “Now, everyone wants to meet the new transfer student."

“You have really got to be kidding."

"I am not," she said, showing the views.

I held her fingers. “Thanks, Nina…for everything.”

“You are welcome."

My phone rang, and it was Troy. I picked up the call, bringing it close to my ear.

“Hey babe," I heard from the receiver. Nina had heard it too because her eyes grew wide and she was covered to keep from screaming.

"We have a pool party this afternoon; care to attend? And don't worry, I will be there in time," he said. I just replied with an "okay" before he hung up.

“Jeez, Skylar, Not only are you dating the hottest boy in school, but you are also being sought after by everybody. Girl, I am so jealous." I knew she didn't mean the last words; she was being too happy for me.

"There is this pool party everyone is going to; care to join?"

"Nah, I will pass. I am going grocery shopping with my mom; moreover, I wasn't made for those types of things. ”,

"I don't think a specific person was actually made for anything. ”,

"You say that, forgetting that you are the only one who got straight A’s in literature last semester. ”,

"Trust me, there are people made for certain things you can't just fathom."

I thought about it from her angle, and yeah, she was right, or would I say she sounded like she was?

Our classes were ending in an hour, and I was really excited about that, not because of the stupid pool party, but because to me the party was going to be lame.

But the thought of being around Troy was giving me all the giggles; I was beaming like a kid. The professor kept giving me are-you-okay kinds of eyes, and I couldn't blame him.

He had every reason to because I was going to Delulu.

The class ended, and as everyone made to leave, the professor's hard voice resonated through the classroom one more time.

"Skylar Walter, to the principal's office, please." Even though he said it calmly, I was bothered. I have not been to the principal's office, not since last year.
