Chapter 124.

124\. Rachael.

I concluded my training with Lyanna early, since I had grasped the fundamentals easily. After meditation, it was down to the practical aspect which I nailed.

"Now try shooting it outwards from your body," Lyanna instructed, standing far away from me on the rooftop. We were alone, the cityscape stretching out before us, and the wind whipping through our hair. I looked at her, unsure of how to proceed.

"Why are you standing so far away?" I demanded, feeling a bit self-conscious about unleashing my powers. Lyanna gestured to the edge of the roof, her eyes serious.

"It's safer here," she said. "I really don't want to fall from this height." I followed her gaze to the edge of the roof, feeling a shiver run down my spine. The drop was dizzying, and I couldn't blame her for wanting to keep her distance.

"Fine, but I promise I won't make it big!" I said, trying to reassure her. I closed my eyes, focusing on the energy within me. I remembered how I had done it that night, the sensation of power coursing through my veins. I took a deep breath, channelling the energy and forcing it out to the world.

The result was explosive. A bright flash shot outwards, almost blinding me, the shooter, and Lyanna, who was several meters away from me. The energy burst forth in a blast of light and sound, making a mini thunderclap noise when I finally stopped using my power. The force of it was exhilarating, and I felt a rush of adrenaline as I opened my eyes to see the aftermath.

Lyanna emerged from her hiding place, her eyes wide with wonder. "That was nothing short of amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice full of awe. "And that was just you holding back, right?" She approached me cautiously, her eyes still shining with excitement.

I grinned, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. "Yeah, I was holding back," I said, chuckling. "Imagine what I could do if I let loose." Lyanna's eyes sparkled with anticipation, and I knew she was eager to see what I was capable of.

"That's amazing, why don't we stop for today and head inside? It's already evening and we have been going at it for quite a while." Lyanna suddenly higher herself and shivered. "And it's getting really cold."

I finished another session of meditation and started heading back to my room. Ethan's door was locked, which meant he was still very busy. I had barely gotten to my room when I saw Sarah heading downstairs as if something was urgent.

I followed her from behind, my footsteps light as I trailed her through the hallways. She moved with a sense of purpose, her strides long and confident, as if she knew exactly where she was going. I watched as she navigated through the corridors, her eyes scanning the surroundings with a mixture of caution and stealth.

As she stopped in front of an open door, she looked around, her gaze darting back and forth as if checking to see if she was being watched. Her eyes lingered on the shadows, and I held my breath, pressing myself against the wall to avoid detection. Satisfied that she was alone, she slipped inside the room, the door creaking softly as it swung shut behind her.

I emerged from my hiding spot, my curiosity piqued. What was Sarah doing in this part of the building? And why was she being so secretive? I crept closer to the door, my ears straining to pick up any sounds from inside. The silence was oppressive, and I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

"Sarah, what are you doing?" I muttered silently to myself, my mind racing with possibilities. What was she hiding from me? Was she meeting someone in secret? Or was she involved in something that she didn't want me to know about? The questions swirled in my head, and I knew I had to find out what was going on.

I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should follow her inside. But my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to take a peek. I slowly turned the handle and pushed the door open, just a crack, and peered inside, before moving in.

As I walked into the open door, I was expecting to see her, maybe having an affair with another servant, but it was empty.

Did she just vanish inside this room? The question rose in my mind.

As I turned, someone grabbed me from behind, their arms wrapping tightly around me. I sucked in enough air to scream, but before I could make a sound, the person quickly clamped a drugged handkerchief over my mouth and nose. The sweet, pungent smell filled my nostrils, and I felt my vision begin to blur.

I tried to struggle, to break free from the person's grip, but my body felt heavy, my limbs unresponsive. My consciousness began to seep away, and I slowly crashed to the ground, my vision spinning. Everything was hazy, from my point of view, and I felt like I was floating in a fog.

As I looked up, I saw Sarah's face looming over me, her expression twisted into a frown. Her eyes seemed to bore into mine, and I felt a pang of shock and betrayal. "I'm sorry, my lady," she said, her voice distant and detached.

The words were like a knife to my heart, and I felt a wave of pain and confusion wash over me. I tried to speak, to ask her why, but my voice was muffled by the handkerchief. Sarah's face grew larger, her features distorting as she leaned in closer.

And then, everything went black. I felt a boot connect with my body, and my world went dark. The last thing I remembered was Sarah's face, her eyes cold and unyielding, before I succumbed to the darkness.

Cold water brought me back to reality and I coughed myself back to life. I nearly shrieked from the shock, especially finding myself bound to a steel chair.

Sarah stood in a corner, her hands folded. Her hair was down, and she had ditched the uniform for jeans and a black coat. I kind of like her new style but then I remembered I was in bondage.

"What is this? Sarah, what are you doing?" I demanded. There were strange signs drawn in a circle around me.

"Sarah I can blast myself out of this if I wanted to." I tried channelling my energy.

"But you will not, because you can't." Sirius appeared behind her and walked towards me.

My heart threatened to shatter my chest as I slowly realised what had happened. Sarah had just sold me to the enemy. I tried using my energy, but the circle around me glowed, and I was instantly exhausted.

"I said you can't. My runic circle is ancient magic that prevents you from using your powers."

"Fuck! Ethan! Ethan! Help me!" I screamed at the top of my voice, the chair rattling.

"You are far from home, my lady. No one will hear you. Even the insects," Sirius cackled.
