Chapter 19

I have never felt rage like this for probably some fucking decades.

I walk to the cashier's desk and he starts calculating the amount which is to be paid. Lucas is sitting on a chair beside me, with his fingers knotted in his lap.

I'm so pissed, that I don't know what to say. Lucas stands up from the chair, as he pokes my shoulder with his finger.

"About fucking time!" I bark at the cashier. Lucas jumps and so does the cashier. I've startled them both. Good job.

"Sorry, erm.. sir." The cashier murmurs an inapt apology as he punches some number on the calculator.

"I don't have time for this. Give me the bill immediately." I hiss as I glare daggers at him. Do it quickly, you prick.

"Sir.. there can be some discounts for the number of clothes you've bought... so, It's taking some time." The cashier peers to look up at me.

I scoff as Lucas intertwines his fingers with mine. Deliberately ignoring his touch, I proceed to say, "I don't need a goddamn discount! Give me the bill!" I bark.

The cashier drops the calculator on his desk and says, "That would be $35, 890."

I hand him my credit card as he swipes it and hands me some bags in which he stuffed the clothes.

I grab the bags as I storm out of the store. Lucas is running to keep up with my pace. Without a second glance, I open the door of my Audi, as he gets inside the car and so do I and I close the door behind me.

"Luke, to the hotel." I command with a glum voice. I spot him amswer with a nod, as he starts the car.

Lucas shifts closer to me and rests his head on my shoulder and sighs. That smell. Ugh. Don't give up, Godfrey. You're supposed to stay pissed at him. My subconscious reminds me.

Pretending that I didn’t feel or bother about his touch, I gaze outside the car window admiring the view of the streets of Los Angeles at night.

He comes closer, until his body is pressed to mine and he places a peck on my cheek. Stay strong, Godfrey. Don't succumb to his charms. I nod at my subconscious.

With me still gazing outside the window, we have already reached the hotel without me barely realising it. I grab the bags as Luke opens the door for me and I hop out of the car. A true gentleman, Luke. I admire this man. So professional, yet so subtle.

I nod at him, as I turn to walk towards the reception as I hear Luke calling out to me.

"Mr. Godfrey, I can help you with the bags!" He reminds me.

I smile kindly at him and say, "Thanks Luke, but I'll manage. Please, take the night off." He smiles at me, and sits back in the car, leading it to the garage.

Lucas quietly follows me towards the elevator. The doors open, as he and I get inside and I press 32 on the button pad.

Lucas fidgets for some time but shortly after, he walks towards me as he grabs my collar and pulls me closer.

No, Godfrey, no. Self-control. Stay angry, you're doing a good job. My subconscious pats my back. Not seeing any reaction from my side, Lucas discreetly steps back.

The elevator doors open and I walk towards the room 492 as I open the door with a soft click.

I enter my room, as I take off my shirt and my shoes. I won't take off my jeans, I'll sleep with that.

Without glancing at Lucas another time, I get up on the bed, and pull the silk sheets over my naked front. Lucas gets up on the bed as well.

I shift away from him, as I turn over to the opposite direction. I switch off the lamp, and try to drift off to a sound sleep. But, time flies by, and I can't sleep.

I get up from the bed as I grab a bottle of whiskey from the table and pour some into a glass. I sit on the couch, sipping my drink when Lucas jumps off from the bed.

Now what does he want? I ignore him once more, as I keep sipping my drink. He stands infront of me with hands crossed across his chest.

I'm so not in the mood to endure his smart mouth now. He opens his mouth to say something, when I grab the towel as I get inside the bathroom, slamming the door behind me.

I'll shower with the jeans on. I turn on the shower, as the luke warm water cascades down my back. I keep my eyes shut, as I tip my face up towards the shower, and the water flows down my face.

The door creaks open. Oh, I remember I hadn’t shut the door from inside, I just slammed it.

Lucas enters in the bathroom when a unwelcome thought crosses my mind. I press my mouth in a hard line with the sheer distaste of the thought.

"Mind if I join?" He whispers. I don't answer, but he comes and stands infront of me.

I shake my head as I scrub my hair. The jeans is fully wet, and is clinging to my thighs but I don't care about it right now.

He told that I was his brother. Maybe... he's ashamed of me. Ashamed that he's with me. Ashamed about the fact that he wants me.

The unwanted thought crosses my mind again, but I can't discard it. I can't dismiss it. It keeps on bugging me.

Lucas comes closer as he hugs me tight. I freeze and still at his touch. No. He shouldn’t touch or embrace someone he's ashamed of in being together in the public.

"I can't." I break off from his embrace as he gapes at me.

"Talk to me, please." He sobs as tears trickle down his cheeks. Don't cry. Don't cry because of me. It's alright if you're ashamed of me. That's what I deserve anyways.

I cup his jaw with my hands as I gulp down my self pity as I whisper, "You told her that I was your brother. Are you ashamed of me?" My voice is a hoarse as I nearly cave.
