Chapter 30: Chapter Thirty
Gun's mind was a tumultuous storm, each thought crashing against the next like waves against rocks. Baby's face lingered in his mind, her smile haunting his every waking moment. He couldn't shake the memories, the laughter, the warmth they once shared. But amidst the turmoil, another figure emerged from the depths of his consciousness.
The mere thought of him ignited a fire within Gun, an anger so fierce it threatened to consume him whole. Without a second thought, he lashed out, kicking the punching bag with all his might, sending it hurtling across the room. The impact echoed loudly, a physical manifestation of his rage.
"Hey bro..." Vin's voice cut through the air, pulling Gun back to reality. He turned to face his brother, his expression dark and brooding.
"Is Furnace dead?" Gun's voice was low, filled with venomous disdain. Vin's sigh was heavy, burdened with the weight of the truth.
"He confessed," Vin admitted quietly, his gaze meeting Gun's with unwavering resolve. "Will you do the honor?"
Gun's fists clenched at his sides, his jaw tightening with pent-up fury. "That fool!" he growled, his voice dripping with contempt. Vin's expression softened, his eyes reflecting a mixture of sympathy and understanding.
"I know losing Baby reminds you of Mom and Dad's death," Vin began, his voice gentle yet firm. "But you have to move on."
Gun turned to look at Vin, his expression troubled. He let out a heavy sigh, his gaze drifting towards the floor as if lost in thought. "Don't you miss them?" he finally asked, his voice tinged with longing.
Vin followed Gun's gaze, understanding the weight of his words. "Don't you miss Mom and Dad? I actually wish we never came to live with humans," Gun confessed, his frustration palpable.
Vin approached Gun, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Calm down... It wasn't that bad," he reassured, though the hollow ring in his voice betrayed his own doubts.
"Yeah, I guess," Gun replied with a resigned shrug, his hand coming to rest against the cool surface of the wall.
"But we have each other, and we met Baby," Vin reminded him, trying to inject a note of optimism into their conversation.
Gun nodded slightly, acknowledging Vin's point. "That's true," he conceded, though the sadness lingered in his eyes.
"We will get our revenge soon," Vin declared, his determination steeling his voice as he looked at Gun.
Gun met Vin's gaze, a flicker of determination lighting up his features. "Let's go teach Furnace a lesson!" Vin suggested, a hint of excitement creeping into his tone.
Angel sighed as they strolled toward the sleek Benz parked nearby, her thoughts swirling with questions about their unique situation.
"So the sun can't affect us?" Angel inquired, adjusting her hat to shield herself from the sun's rays.
"Not when you're wearing this," Sky replied, reaching into his pocket and producing a small amethyst ring. He carefully slipped it onto Angel's finger, a reassuring smile playing on his lips.
"This is an Amethyst ring," Angel observed, glancing up at Sky as he adjusted his dark sunglasses.
"It will protect you from the sun. We all have one," Sky explained, his smile widening at Angel's curious expression.
Angel's hand found its way to Sky's chest, her fingers tracing patterns on his shirt as she stood on tiptoe to meet his gaze.
"What about you? If you give me yours, how will you protect yourself?" she asked, her concern evident in her voice.
"Don't worry about me," Sky reassured her, his arm wrapping securely around her thighs as he effortlessly lifted her into his arms.
"But..." Angel began, her words trailing off as Sky interrupted her with a gentle smile.
"If you want me to be safe, then protect yourself when I'm gone," he said softly, his gaze never leaving hers.
A mixture of emotions flickered across Angel's face before she finally returned Sky's smile, her heart feeling lighter knowing that they were in this together.
"You promise to come back to me?" Angel asked, her voice filled with hope and longing.
"I promise. I will be with you in a heartbeat," Sky whispered softly, his eyes filled with sincerity as he made the vow to Angel. She couldn't help but giggle at his words before leaning in to kiss him tenderly.
"Gosh! Can't we go five minutes without you two being all lovey-dovey?" Isabel teased playfully, rolling her eyes with a smirk. Nina chuckled beside her, enjoying the light-hearted banter among friends.
"Furnace is dead, so Isabel, I think it's now your turn to take the ladies to the other safe spot," Ray suggested, his tone serious but laced with a hint of amusement. Silver glanced at him with a raised eyebrow, silently questioning his choice of words.
"Vin, won't you tell Nina goodbye?" Marcus inquired, a warm smile spreading across his face as he watched the interaction between the two.
"I will instead," Nina replied softly, her voice filled with emotion as she walked over to Vin and enveloped him in a tight embrace. The moment was bittersweet, knowing that they would soon part ways, but grateful for the bond they shared.
"New couples?" Kevin interjected, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he led Vivi out of the room. The sudden appearance of Vivi caught Angel off guard, and she couldn't help but voice her surprise.
"She's alive?" Angel exclaimed, her eyes widening in disbelief as she caught sight of Vivi standing before them.
"It's a long story," Casey explained, offering a brief explanation before May nodded in agreement.
"Shall we get going?" Gun interjected, his voice breaking through the chatter as he made his way towards the jeep parked outside.
"Sure," Case replied, turning to embrace Casey one last time before reluctantly walking away to join Gun in the vehicle.
ABANDONED CASTLE
Vintage's eyes narrowed as he watched Henry's determined expression. "Trying to escape?" he snapped, his voice dripping with disdain.
Henry met Vintage's gaze without flinching. "Let's capture the ladies first, then Sky and the guys will have no choice but to return," he declared confidently, his tone laced with authority.
Alf, standing nearby, shook his head fearfully. "When you capture Sky's Queen, he won't take it lightly with you," he warned, his voice trembling with apprehension.
Vintage let out a mocking laugh. "He killed my girl," he snapped bitterly, his eyes flashing with anger as he recalled the painful memory.
As Angel and her companions stepped into the elevator, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. "Is this the hideout?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Isabel nodded in response. "Yes, it's underground," she confirmed, her expression serious.
Silver sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping with exhaustion. "Not everyone knows how deep it is, but it's the safest place to be," he added, his voice tinged with resignation.
Angel leaned back against the elevator wall, her hand absentmindedly touching the ring on her finger. A sudden wave of hunger washed over her, causing her to groan in discomfort.
"No! Sky isn't here. Who will she feed on?" she muttered to herself, her face growing pale with distress.
Casey, noticing Angel's distress, stepped forward with concern. "Need blood?" she asked quietly, her gaze sympathetic as she looked at Angel.
First turner. Feed on me" Silver ordered and Angel glanced at her.
Silver's eyes softened with understanding as Angel drew closer, her trust in her friend evident. "Don't worry, I can handle your blood thirst," Silver reassured her, her voice steady despite the gravity of the situation. "Just feed on me."
Without another word, Angel complied, her fangs sinking into Silver's neck with a mixture of hunger and restraint. The sensation was overwhelming, a rush of euphoria mingled with the primal urge to consume. Yet, Angel remained in control, drawing only what she needed from her friend.
Meanwhile, Vivi's curiosity got the better of her, prompting her to voice the question that lingered in her mind. "So vampires can feed on each other. Why then do you haunt humans?" she inquired, her tone laced with intrigue.
Nina's response was sharp, her words dripping with a hint of disdain. "Because sometimes we crave for fresh blood," she hissed, her gaze unwavering as she met Vivi's eyes.
Vivi recoiled slightly at Nina's intensity, her fear palpable as she voiced her concern. "You aren't going to suck my blood, right?" she asked, her voice trembling with apprehension.
Nina's lips curled into a smirk, a glint of mischief dancing in her eyes. "I would have... if I wanted," she retorted, her tone teasing yet tinged with a hint of danger.
Casey couldn't help but chuckle at Vivi's reaction, her amusement evident as she interjected, "Don't worry, you are safe. Besides, your blood isn't that sweet."
May nodded in agreement, her expression playful as she added, "No way! My blood is the best!" Vivi protested, her pride wounded by the playful banter.
You aren't going to keep on bragging about your blood when we have a bloodthirsty vampire in our midst," she cautioned, her voice a sharp rebuke. Vivi, recognizing the gravity of the situation, clamped her mouth shut, chastened by Nina's words.
The descent seemed to stretch on for an eternity, the only sound the soft hum of the elevator's machinery. Then, abruptly, it came to a halt with a beep, startling the occupants.
"Why did it stop?" Casey's voice broke the silence, her brow furrowed in confusion as she glanced down at her iPad, searching for answers.
"We haven't reached yet?" Vivi's question hung in the air, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"No?" May's response was tentative as she pressed the buttons in a futile attempt to restart the elevator. But their efforts were abruptly halted by a chilling laugh echoing through the confined space.
Suddenly, as if from nowhere, they felt a sharp prick as darts embedded themselves in their skin. Instantly, their vision began to blur, the world spinning dizzily around them.
"Henry...?" Silver's voice was barely a whisper as she struggled to maintain consciousness, her strength fading rapidly.
"Come save your Queen, Sky," Henry's voice, tinged with malice, cut through the haze of confusion, his laughter echoing mockingly as darkness enveloped them, one by one collapsing to the floor in a heap of unconsciousness.
