Chapter 112: The Blast {Rosie}

“I’m sure Berlo would be elated to know that. Now unhand me," I gritted out, glaring into his eyes like he ripped out my heart and stomped on it religiously.

He looked me up and down. With the look of contempt. “You seem to think I'm being nice here.” He lowered his voice as he skimmed his lips over the side of my neck. I inhaled deeply.

"You came to me, under the guise of a helpless, homeless slut who needed a job and a place to stay.” Each word was harsher than the last. It took a lot not to beg him to stop. It didn’t help that he was looking right into me.

“I was so pussy starved that your little plan worked. I took a bite of your cookie, fell into your hands, and ate from it. Now, you succeeded in getting what you wanted; congratulations!” he shouted into my face. I flinched. “You got what you wanted; now tell me what information you babbled off to your husband-to-be before I make him a widower!”

His nails were starting to press too deep, leaving a dent. I shut my eyes, trying my best to suppress the tears, but it was futile. Kieran had never spoken to me this way, and not being able to deny what he said made it even worse.

“Answer me!”

I dropped my head, sobbing quietly. “You’re hurting me, Kieran," I begged.

“I wouldn’t be if you only told me the truth.”

Berlo planned all of this. From the bombing to allowing Kieran to save me. I knew for sure he knew this was going to happen, and I wasn't going to risk talking when there was a possibility that something on me or in me was wired to allow him to listen to my conversation.

He shook me by my shoulders. “Answer me!”

“I can't," I sobbed.

“Look at me," he commanded. My face was soaked with tears, but I obeyed. It hurt so much to have too many things to say but be unable to say them. I tried to express my hurt with my eyes. Wishing he could read them without the anger and pain of betrayal he felt.

“Elizabeth?”

“I shook my head and looked down to my chest, where the necklace Berlo made me wear sat at the center of my cleavage. He followed my line of sight and immediately got it.

When he looked back up at me, his eyes softened. My body relaxed for a moment. Now, i just needed to be able to have him understand me without letting Berlo knows what is really happening.

“My husband-to-be, as you have said yourself, is probably on his way here with the police to arrest you for bombing and endangering the lives of many and for kidnapping an innocent woman," I said. I said all this while wiggling my eyebrows, which might look funny to him, but it didn’t matter as long as he understood what I was driving at.

“I should have known there was something fishy about you," he said with a mischievous smile. “But Berlo must have to get here with superspeed to stop me from ending your pathetic life.”

He released me but suddenly lashed out his hand before I could blink. I let out a short scream as he grabbed my necklace right off my neck and smashed it to the ground.

We bought it and looked down at the broken jade pendant and the wiring inside it. I let out a silent gasp. The pendant was only a guess, but I was right. Kieran bent down and picked the pieces off the floor so he could inspect them.

“It’s a tracker and a recorder," he mutters.

“Brad!” he shouted, and immediately Brad appeared. It felt nice seeing him again, but I couldn't say he felt the same way. When he looked up at me, there was no trace of familiarity or friendliness.

Kieran was still inspecting the pendant; he tore apart the connected wires with his fingers. “Take her and have her inspected," he ordered without giving me or Brad a glance. “We leave in five minutes.”

I looked between Brad and Kieran, hoping one of them would at least look at me in a way that would make me relax and not overthink my current situation, but none of them were looking at me. Not even Brad as he grabbed me by my arms and led me out of the room.

“Where are we going?” I asked him.

“You’ll know when we get there," he replied curtly.

“Brad…”

“Save it," he cut me off rudely.

Ouch.

I was surprised to see a female guard with an inspecting device ready for me at the foyer. She had a masculine build and a stony face. She was quick with the device, moving it all over my body until it was certain that I was clean.

"Clear," she said to Brad. Brad nodded and pushed me forward.

We were a few steps away from the house when I felt the heat scorching my back from the sudden loud explosion. The force of it sent Brad and me flying face-first into the pavement.
