Chapter 42: Dominick

I spent an incredible afternoon with the woman I love and having to go back was a pain in the ass, but we needed this shipment, I took care of everything and the meeting time was approaching. I saw the door open and looked to see who it was, it was Lorenzo.

“Do you know where Antônio is?” I asked.

“With Mrs. Cecília,” he replied directly.

I knew they would be together, but being sure bothered me, but I couldn't do anything, it was part of the agreement we made to share. Minutes later he walked through the door and had a happy face that bothered me even more.

“Everything ready, Antonio?” I asked.

“Everything perfectly placed,” he said, smiling.

“Great, we're leaving in 10 minutes, I'm just going to say goodbye to Cecília,” I said smiling.

“Are you provoking me brother?” he asked.

“You know I don’t, but I have the right to say goodbye to the woman I love. And Lorenzo, you know what to do if something happens to us,” I said.

Everything was agreed upon, of course, nothing would happen, but if something went wrong, she would be in charge until we turned around.

I went to Cecília's room, she was poring over the papers I asked her to examine, simply perfect.

Being able to kiss her was the best part of my day, even though it was a goodbye kiss, at least for now.

At the appointed minutes I was ready and properly armed for the night.

We arrived at the indicated location and started to move around for the arrival of the cargo, everything was ready, and we had a drink and laughed a little.

At the scheduled time the cargo arrived, but we didn't expect what was going to happen, the truck came full of shooters which caught us off guard, and an intense shootout started, it took us a while to figure out where to shoot, I couldn't find Antônio, we took the cargo back and we killed most of them. I went looking for Antônio and couldn't find him, unfortunately, I was caught with a gun to my head.

“Look if it's not Dom who's unprotected,” he said.

Before he could take any initiative, Antônio arrived behind the guy doing the same thing as him.

“Sorry, today won’t be your day,” he said.

I heard a shot and when I turned on the spot I saw Antonio fall, I raised my gun and shot towards the head of the person who was threatening me, and I hit, I ran towards Antonio who was lying down.

“I’m going to get you out of here brother,” I said in desperation.

More shots rang out and suddenly I felt a burning sensation that I couldn't identify where it was, but I knew I had been shot.

“Come on brother, we need to get out of here,” I said trying to lift him, but I could see 3 puncture wounds on his body.

“I won't make it,” he said, spitting out some blood. “You will finally be able to be with her, take care of her brother, I love you,” he coughed again.

“I'm not going to leave you,” I said and at that moment I felt another impact, another shot, but this one hit me differently, I felt dizzy and my vision was lost.

I saw when Raffael came to me and picked me up. I didn't want to leave, not without my brother.

“Take Antônio first,” was all I managed to say.

“Sorry Dom, but he's already dead, we need to get out of here. I need to get you out of here,” he said and I only heard that before he blacked out completely.
