Forty one
ERICA'S POV
"Kyle", I continued to yell even as I was pulled towards a white limousine.
Why was Kyle ignoring me? He had injuries as well, so why wasn't he coming along with me to the hospital?.
"Be careful with her", Thomas warned, eyeing the men that were pulling me. He knew very well that nothing bad was to happen to me.
None of the men were allowed to be rough with me. Or else Kyle would have their heads if anything happened to me.
"Please get in ma." One of the men said with a sigh.
I stared at him for a while and then stood on my toes to glance behind him. With a defeated drop of my shoulders, I reluctantly got into the limousine, thanking Thomas as he closed the door after me.
Thomas whispered his thanks to whoever had helped him convince me to comply and get into the passenger's seat.
"Drive." Thomas instructed
"Is your boss not coming along?", I asked.
Thomas shut his eyes and bit back a curse.
"Maam, please just sit tight. We are taking you to the hospital."
"Your boss is injured as well. What about him? He needs to be treated as well", I argued, not ready to listen.
Kyle had more injuries since he had saved. His head, he had hit his head during the fall. If he doesn't want to check anything else, then he could at least make sure that was checked.
"At least call him, for my sake." I requested, a bit calmly this time.
Thomas eyed the drive and the other man that was seated with them before he left out a sigh. He signaled to one of the men to call Kyle. Kyle was the only one who could take control of the situation. Kyle showing up was the only way Thomas could have peace and he was willing to do it. He collected the phone and dialed the number himself grunting when it didn't go.
"His line is busy maam." His frustration obvious in his voice.
He tried the number a few more times but it was still busy. Who was the Kyle calling?
"Keep trying, please. He should meet us at the hospital so he can get treated as well"
"I'm sure he is just as concerned for his health maam." Thomas wanted to say but the hospital came into view and he let out a sigh of relief.
"We are here, ma'am."
He got down quickly and opened my door, helping me out. I reluctantly got down from the car and allowed them to lead me into the hospital. I was surely going to kill Kyle for ignoring his health like this.
"She needs a thorough examination" Thomas told the doctor and watched as I was being led into a room.
"I'm perfectly fine. It is Kyle that needs to be checked" I yelled just as the door closed behind us.
Thomas slumped in the seat glad to be rid of me for at least a while. He made some calls while he waited trying the Kyle's number again but it was still busy. Giving up, he placed his phone in his lap and waited.

"The doctor said you are as fit as a horse." Thomas smiled as he stood in front of me.
I just rolled my eyes and crossed my hands over my breasts. The movemnent caused her breasts to move up a little and Thomas was distracted by them a little.
"I knew that. I clearly said I was okay. But no, none of you listened to me. Your boss is the one who needs to be checked out", i glared at him.
"Did you call him? why isn't he here yet?",
Thomas frowned and dipped his hands in his pockets looking at his shoes. They were a bit dirty but that was expected after the rescue mission.
"His line has been busy. I tried a few times while you were with the doctor and it was busy",
I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Are you lying to me?",
He shook his head and sighed.
"l promise you ma'am, I called him"
It was now my turn to let out a sigh.
"Let's go, there's nothing else to do here"
"Let's go boys" He said as he led me out, walking close to me as we made our way back to the limousine.
"Where to boss?" one of the men asked staring at Thomas.
Thomas eyed me in question and I shrugged.
'Since when did they start asking me for instructions?' I wondered as I got into the limo.
"Sir" I heard as the door closed behind me and frowned, peeping to see what was happening.
I opened the door and saw that one of the men was on the phone talking to someone, while the others including Thomas were standing beside him as if waiting for instructions. It was definitely Kyle that was calling.
"Yes boss, We are done at the hospital and are on our way to the penthouse."
"Is that him? Kyle why didn't you come to the hospital? Your wounds need to be checked. Please come here!!!!!." I yelled and Thomas sighed, walking towards me.
He pushed me inside gently and closed the door, instructing the driver to lock the doors. I heard Lorenzo laughed on the other side of the phone after hearing my voice.
"Bring her"
"Yes boss"
*********
'Finally' I thought as they led me to a room in the villa.
I had questions about why they had brought me here, but I knew the men were fed up with my worries, so i kept it to my self. Pushing the door open, I sighed and walked in. All the events of the day came crashing down on me and I felt exhausted. Staring at the bed in the room, I moved towards and stopped midway when my eyes fell on Kyle sited on a chair. Suddenly I didn't feel tired anymore and ran across the room, stopping in front of him.
My ran it's way over him, before I knelt in front of him, using my hands to check if he was okay for myself. Satisfied, I hit his back softly glaring at him.
"Why did you refuse to come to the hospital? Remember you fell. What if something happens to you again?", I scolded him, and he just frowned.
"What are you doing here?. Thomas!", Kyle yelled.
Lorenzo smiled as he watched me fuss over his Son. At least his plan had yielded some kind of result. Kyle glared at his father. He knew he was somehow responsible and wondered what the old crow was planning.
"As much as I am enjoying this little show Erica, I must ask you something" Lorenzo said and Kyle narrowed his eyes.
What was his father up to again?
"Why did the both of you end up at the bottom of the cliff?"
I froze and stared at Kyle. Could I tell Lorenzo that I had been running away? How would I explain it to him?.
Kyle ran a hand down his face in exasperation.
"Dad, there's no need for all these questions. Is there?"
"Of course, there is son."
I opened my mouth and closed it a few times at loss for words.
"Well I was."
"The truth is that I stormed out of the hotel and drove us to an empty park. Then I got down and left. Erica ran after me and well she got lost while trying to find me and we ended up at the bottom of the cliff", Kyle finished talking and avoided my gaze.
"ls that what happened my child?", Lorenzo asked staring at me, whose attention was fixed on his son.
From the expression on his face, he could only hold I have fallen for his son. He wasn't sure he believed the story Kyle had just told him. It sounded like a made up one and not at all what had happened, but he didn't push it.
I nodded, still staring at Kyle. How had he managed to do that so effortlessly?.
I shivered when he caught my gaze and looked away.
"He needs a doctor." I announced, staring at Lorenzo.
Lorenzo nodded, looking amused by my concern.
"I already took care of that. I had a few doctors come here to check him out."
I sighed in relief, an action that didn't go unnoticed by Lorenzo who smiled at it. Perhaps he might be thinking that these 30 days would produce a positive result.
"Thank you, I was worried." I said not bothering to hide my joy in the fact that he was okay.
"How is school my dear?", Lorenzo asked me and i sighed, sitting beside Kyle on the couch.
"It's fine. I am pushing it",
I was suddenly aware of Kyle's gaze on me, but I didn't look up from my hands, which were suddenly seeming interesting. Lorenzo nodded and stared at the two of us for a long time.
"How are things at home? Hope there is no problem?" It was an open question and I
rubbed my hands together, not sure how to respond. But then, Kyle answered saving me the trouble.
"Fine."
"You can leave now. Stay away from cliffs from now on." Lorenzo joked laughing at his own words.
Kyle grunted, but didn't reply. He rose to his feet and looked at me who was still staring at my hands. I was definitely avoiding his gaze?
"Are you ready to go?",
I nodded, still not meeting his eyes as I rose to my feet. I smiled at Lorenzo, a weak and tired one.
"Thank you for everything." I appreciated him
He was tempted to ask what I was thanking him for especially, but he changed his mind and nodded in response, waving as the both of us walked out of the room, the door closing behind us.
"30 days." He muttered under his breath. As there was a smile on his face.
"Just 30 days."
