Chapter 60
Alessia.
I woke up to find my side of the bed empty. The room was still calloused with the scent of Angelo. I sniffed in the bed covers replaying last night. We cuddled to sleep. "Rise and shine baby girl," I said to myself stretching my body. A yawn escaped me as I got out of bed. I returned to my room, took a shower, and changed before heading downstairs. Annie was the only person I saw seated on the couch with a laptop placed on her lap.
"Good morning, lover girl." She said as soon as I crashed down next to her. "And what is that supposed to mean?" I asked my eyes darting left to right looking at her with a serious face.
"Everyone knows you and Angelo have reconciled." She nudged my arm with a teasing brow. "Everyone? By everyone do you mean your boyfriend Kelvin? Because last time I checked Elijah doesn't have much gossip side to him and Marco is not in this house. So it has to be Kelvin." She cleared her voice instead.
"By the way, where are the men? I didn't find Angelo in bed." My eyes went to the quiet dining area.
"I don't know. But Kelvin mentioned that they will be going to his house."
"His house? Whose house?" Panic was already rising inside me even before hearing it from her. "Your father?"
"What?" I jolted up. "Call Kelvin, I need to go."
"I don't get it. Go to where?"
"I want to meet my father."
Annie was quick to drop her laptop by the side, getting up to a standing position too. "I don't think this is the right time for you to meet him."
"And I can't think of any time apart from this. I have a lot to ask him. I am impatient." I said raking my hands through my hair in frustration.
"I understand you. But Angelo won't like it if you appear there. He's trying to protect you, Alessia. Let's wait for him to return first. Let's not take the decision harshly."
"But—"
She cut me off by placing both her hands on my shoulders. "Please, let's hold on first. I know you have a lot to ask but deep down I know you're not prepared to face him yet." My shoulder slumped. At some point, Annie was right. I was impatient to meet him but the truth of the matter was, I wasn't ready yet.
"Please." She pleaded again. I exhaled a deep breath before sitting back down, holding my head in my palms. "Hope everything is well?"
"Yes, Lillian." Annie was the one who answered. I didn't have the strength to speak. We ate breakfast alone but all I could think about was my father. What could he be discussing with Angelo?
"Free your mind from any negativity. Everything will go well. Let's wait for their return." I could only nod to Annie.
The rest of the morning flew by with my expectations of Angelo's return but none of them showed up. Evening time came, Annie and I still ate lunch alone. I was worried to the bone. I didn't know how much time I'd glanced at the door for their arrival.
It was after we were done eating dinner and I was in the kitchen helping Lilian with the dishes to cool off my mind when I heard his voice. "Where is Alessia?" I heard Angelo say. One step away from the counter when Annie replied to him.
"She's gone."
"What do you mean she's gone? How?" Lillian and I exchanged looks. She covered her mouth to hold in her laughter while my brows creased in confusion. What was Annie planning?
"You must be kidding me? Why would she leave without a word? If her clothes are still there then I have nothing to worry about."
I jolted for the door before Angelo could make a walk upstairs. "Hi," the three men turned to look at me standing in front of the kitchen door. I could swear I saw Angelo roll his eyes. Without a word, he walked away.
What in the world?
"What is wrong with him?" Annie asked Kelvin which he shrugged. "I will figure it out," I said to them sauntering up.
"What was the meaning of what you did down there? I was worried sick about your whereabouts which you didn't bother to tell me. And then you gave me the look?" I vented my frustration out. Angelo was standing at the vanity mirror taking off the cufflinks from his shirt. Acting as if he didn't see me.
I stormed towards him. "I'm talking to you. Why did you leave without a word?" I demanded.
"Say another word and I will kiss you senselessly."
"Like I would allow—" My words halted in my throat when he crashed his lips on me. I wasted no time in reacting. I wrapped my arms around his neck, parting my lips. Angelo sucked on my lower lip. I felt the heat radiating off my body. I was about to take things further as my hand began searching for his button. But Angelo pulled away, resting his forehead against mine.
"I've missed kissing you. I feel so much alive now." He whispered. I licked my lips, my chest rising and falling from the little kiss we shared. "But you didn't tell me you would be meeting my father."
"You were sleeping soundly and I didn't want to make you worried. I didn't actually meet him."
"Why? But Annie said you guys went to meet him." He pulled away completely, cupping my face in his palms. "Do you trust me?" He asked looking at me intently.
I nodded my head. "Then, let's do this together. I can handle Dominic on my own but I can only bring Enzo down with your help." I lifted a confused brow.
"How?"
"You and your parents. I need you guys on my side."
"I'm ready to do everything, Angelo. I want all of this to end. I want you to get the peace and happiness you deserve." He offered out a smile. "Let's go to New York. Together."
