Chapter 77: Shocking turn off events...
Finally, I was in my way home. Luciano was currently driving. He had spent exactly twenty minutes talking to the Paulos before he found me and asked me if I wanted to go home.
I said yes of course. I knew that the ball was not over so I asked him to just call a cab for me but he refused.
He insisted on driving me back and said he wanted to leave too.
I did not know what might have said to the Paulos or what agreement they might have come to but I was sure I was not going know about it.
That was until Luciano eventually got married, of course.
"How tired are you?" He suddenly asked out if the blue.
He was looking at the road intently.
I took in a deep breath then leaned back in my seat. "Very tired but most of all, I'm hungry." I whined. "I can't wait to go home and have some beautiful baked goods and ice cream." I knew that since I'd not been home, Lilian would have made some delicious treats and Greg would have made some ice cream. I was sure to have the time if my life for the next one week exploring my fridge. I could easily but it but nothing tasted like home. Right now, I was too lazy to lift a finger.
He raised his brows but did not say anything for a while. "Ate you hungry or you just want to go have sweets?"
I cocked my head to the side. "I... You know, I want a little bit if both. Something sweet to console myself for my hardwork. I can eat real food tomorrow morning." I said.
He nodded. "what kind of sweet baked goods do you like?" He asked me.
I cocked my head to the side. "I don't even know! I like it as far as it's good. But to be honest, I'm more into cakes, ice cream, doughnuts, pizzas, pies... The list goes on."
"You do not look like a girl who eats that much junk." He stated.
I widened my eyes for various reasons. Did he just compliment my body but not compliment my eating style? Did he just say that my beautiful baked goods are junk? I took in a deep breath that flashed him a glare. "how dare you?"
He gave me a blank look before turning his focus back to the road. "how dare I what?"
I shook my head. He had to be impossible. "How dare you call my beautiful baked goods junk?"
He raised his brows. "Is that not what it is?"
I gasped. "Just thank your stupid brain that I am so tired. I would have tacked you till you took that back!"
"If you tackle me now, you'll get yourself killed. I'm driving, don't you remember?" He asked, the amusement clear in his voice.
I do not care. Drive all you want. As far as you did beside me, no problem.
He scoffed. "what a beautiful speech."
I rolled my eyes. "I know right. I'm the best if the best."
We sat in silence after that. I watched the beautiful night sky through the window if his sports car. I had to unwind the glass a little bit so I could take in everything from where I sat. Each time I went out, I liked to look around and enjoy the scenery.
It always made me feel good and happy. Because I drive myself most times, I could not focus on the sky in the night. I had to focus in the rude. But now that I was being driven by someone else. It felt safer and easier.
The car slowed down before coming to a halt. I raised my brows because I was not familiar with this place.
It looked like a... A bakery?
I closed my eyes and opened it again just to be sure. I stared at the name and the environment, trying to see if I was currently dreaming. No! I was not dreaming at all! I was actually here, in front of a bakery. I thought we had arrived at my house but here I was.
I looked at Luciano, the excitement evident in my eyes. "thank you! Thank you so much!"
He shook his head. "stop overreacting."
I ignored him and got out of the car immediately.
He soon did the same. We were standing side by side now. "I really wanted to eat something sweet. Really, thank you."
He was silent for a while before he spoke, "you are welcome. You wanted to eat the cookies earlier but I stopped you because I did not want you to eat them. This is my way of paying you back for that."
I did not expect him to think that far for me and do this. I was really happy. "thank you so very much. I'm glad that you thought about me."
He did not say anything. He just nodded.
I raised my brows when a thought came to my mind. "do you think that they'll be open. It's already quite late. It's past mid night."
He looked indifferent as he said, "don't worry. They'll be open. I calmed them earlier and told them not to close yet."
I widened my eyes. "how did you do that?"
He shrugged. "I just dialed their number?"
I burst out laughing. "I know, I meant how did you get them to stay for that long. Past midnight?"
He shrugged again. "what's the big deal?"
I shook my head. Of course. Luciano Roberto would not know the big deal in keeping a whole bakery waiting for hours. He was used to clearing out restaurants and making reservations for his personal use. Nothing about this weekend unusual for him.
I still felt giddy about it so I thanked him over and over again.
I eat as much as I could in the bakery and had as much fun as I could.
When I was done and ready to go home, I did not expect what happened next.
