Chapter 60: He left for work?

Brianna’s POV
Tears dropped down Ryan’s cheeks and I became even more confused. What exactly is going on? It’s his wedding day so why is he crying when he’s supposed to be happy that he’s starting a new life?
“Ryan, what’s wrong?” I asked and descended the stairs hurriedly
Instead of answering me, he cried even harder and I was confused about what to do. Since he was refusing to talk, I decided to check the news about his wedding.
“Mia didn’t show up?” I asked after watching the news
“Can you at least say something Ryan?” I asked
“What do you want me to say? This was what you wanted so you should be really happy right?” he asked still in tears
“What are you saying? Why would I wish for something bad to happen to you?” I scoffed
“If you had agreed to wait for me, I wouldn’t have carried on with the wedding and this wouldn’t have happened. Do you still think it’s not your fault?” he asked
“It’s all my fault and I regret it too. You can punish me however you want later on but please stop crying. Crying won’t solve anything. Instead, it will only affect your health and complicate things” I said
“You don’t need to care about my health now. You should have done that a long time ago” he said and withdrew his hands
He climbed the stairs and went to his room while I sat at the bottom of the stairs. He has every right to be mad at me but I don’t know why I feel so sad. A part of me is really happy that the wedding didn’t take place though but what if Mia had really shown up?
I’m so confused right now because I don’t know if Mia refused to show up at the wedding because she feels Ryan and I love each other or if that was her plan from the start. How is she going to take care of the baby all on her own though?
After sitting for a while and trying to gather my thoughts, I stood up and left for Ryan’s room. I knocked on the door several times but never got a response.
“Ryan I know you can hear me. Can you please open the door? I won’t say anything, I only want to be sure that you are okay and that you’re able to sleep well” I said
“You should leave now because I won’t open the door. There’s no need for you to pretend to care now that Mia left” he said
I kept knocking and tried convincing him with my words so he could open the door but he didn’t budge so I decided to leave. We will go to the office together tomorrow so I just have to exercise a little more patience.
Unfortunately, I woke up late the next morning. I wasn’t too late but at least, it wasn’t the usual time I used to wake up. I hurriedly took my bath and descended the stairs in a hurry.
By the time I got downstairs, it was totally quiet and I could hear the drop of a pin. Is Ryan still now awake yet or he doesn’t plan to go to work today just so he won’t see me?
I opened the door and left the house. When I got to the garage, I realized that a car was missing and fortunately, the driver was around.
“Why is a car missing?” I asked him
“Good morning ma’am! Boss left for work already and he asked me to take you to work when you are ready” the driver said
“He left for work?” I mumbled to myself
“Please get into the car ma’am” the driver who had already opened the car door said
“It’s fine, I will just get a taxi” I said and walked absent-mindedly out of the mansion
I can’t believe Xavier even left very early just so he wouldn’t see me. Does he hate me that much? It’s understandable though! I really crossed the line this time, I hurt him beyond words.
I was so deep in thought that I didn’t realize I was in the middle of the road already. Someone pulled me away just before a car could run me over and surprisingly, it turned out to be Oscar.
“Oscar?” I called out in surprise
“What are you doing here?” I asked further
“I was passing by and saw you in danger, I couldn’t just leave” he said
“Thank you!” I muttered
“I know you are upset with me for breaking up with you all of a sudden but….” He was saying but I cut him off
“It’s fine. Ryan threatened you to leave me alone so I’m not upset at all. Have you seen any lady that catches your interest?” I asked
“Yes, she’s in my car. Do you want to see her?” he asked
“No, just send my regards to her. I sincerely wish you guys the best in life” I said
“Thank you Brianna. You are one of the best ladies I’ve come across and I wish you happiness” he said
“I’m grateful for that, I will take my leave now”
I quickly left before he could say something else and took a taxi to work. After dropping my bag in my office, I prepared Ryan’s coffee and took it to his office.
“Good morning” I greeted as I dropped the coffee
“Morning” he answered without looking up at me
“Are you okay?” I asked after sighing and he looked up at me
“I don’t understand. Is that a question for your boss?” he asked
“No. That question is for Ryan Santiago that confessed his love for me” I said
“I already told you that our relationship at work should be strictly professional but you won’t listen. I also don’t have feelings for you anymore so just forget it. Move your things within two weeks and find yourself an apartment. I’ll take care of the first year’s rent and after you move out, you can decide to stop working here if you want to” he said while I scoffed
“Do you think I will move out just because you are asking me to? I won’t so don’t even dream about it. You can lie to yourself about not having feelings for me anymore, it’s your choice. I won’t leave so forget about it too” I said angrily and left his office
Luckily, his office is soundproofed so I know the other workers didn’t hear our conversation.
After work closed for the day, I left my office and waited for Ryan at the parking lot. Whether he likes it or not, we will go home together today.
He soon arrived there within a few minutes and when he saw me, he looked away and got into the car. I also opened the door and sat down.
“What do you think you are doing?” he asked
“What does it look like? I’m going home with you obviously” I scoffed
“Get down from the car, I’ll call a taxi for you” he said coldly
“I don’t want a taxi, I want to go home with you” I said
“I will leave the car for you then” he said and wanted to get down but I held him back
“You must really hate me that you can’t stand the sight of me right? I know I made a mistake and I regret it already so why can’t you forgive me? What I did cannot be compared to what you did in any way, yet I still love you with all my heart.
I know I was wrong and I’m really sorry. I won’t let anyone come in between us from now on so can you please forgive me? It hurts me so badly when we are together but you won’t even talk to me. I won’t behave foolishly again, I promise” I concluded and waited for his response
