Chapter 34

While Alexander waited for Symphony to wake up, he had men rebuilding his house that was destroyed. He wanted to have it done when Symphony woke up, he didn’t want her to be stuck in the safe house.

He checked in with the doctors every day and even though she was strong and had no major injuries she was still in a catatonic state. The doctors couldn’t figure out why. Alexander had guards posted outside of her room and surrounding the hospital, he didn’t want any surprises. He went to visit her every day and brought her flowers so she would have something nice to look at when she woke up. When he wasn’t at the hospital, Damion or Gavin were there keeping an eye on her.

Everyone was hoping she would wake up soon, as Alexander was slowly losing his mind with her in the hospital. He even went as far as letting the doctors take her home so she would have familiar surroundings when she woke up. That was denied though as the doctors didn’t even know why she hadn’t woken up yet.

Alexander tried to keep himself busy with his duties as king but there was only so much, he could do. He checked in on the status of the new house and was pleased to see how well that was coming along. It wasn’t as big as the old one, but it looked homier and less intimidating.

He had found some pictures that Symphony had marked and had a little bit of each one incorporated into the new house. He hoped she would love it once she woke up.

He had Damion call around to see if maybe he could find someone to help with Symphony’s coma-like state. So far that was turning up empty. He even went through all the books he had on werewolves and was still coming up empty. No one seemed to know what was causing this. The only thing he could think of was the day of the battle she used too much power, and it had drained her. He ran that thought by the doctors and they somewhat agreed with that scenario but were not certain.

It had been a month and a half and still no progress with Symphony. Alexander was getting more frustrated with every passing day. He had let Dax out more times in the last month than he had since he was a child. Dax wanted to rip all the doctors' heads off when they said that there was no change in Symphony. Whatever happened to her she was trapped in her own body and would have to work through it on her own, the doctors told him. He wanted to strangle them.

Symphony could feel and hear everything around her. She wanted to scream that she was there, but she couldn’t move, nor could she talk. She was trapped. She even tried reaching out to Starlett, but silence met her in return. She didn’t know what was happening. She knew that Alexander had everyone looking for answers, but they were all coming up empty. She wanted to wake up from this nightmare and run straight into Alexander's arms. She went as far as reaching out to the moon goddess herself to see if she had any answers, but she couldn’t reach her. Symphony knew if she stayed in this state much longer Alexander was going to end up killing someone, she needed to get back to him.

By the end of the month, Alexander told the doctors to either find some new information or he was taking Symphony home to either come out of this or die. He had enough of her being in the hospital if there was nothing the doctors could do.

“Symphony, please come back to me. The kingdom needs their queen and so do I. I am going crazy without you.” Alexander told her during one of his visits.

She could hear the sadness in his voice. She tried to move or say something to comfort him, but she still couldn’t. Her heart shattered and she wanted to cry. She cursed the moon goddess every day that she was stuck like this. She cursed Starlett for leaving her. At this point, she even cursed the doctors for not being able to figure out what was going on with her.
