Chapter 11: CHAPTER ELEVEN

Alpha Nathan's POV

My heart thundered in my chest as I saw what the guard was holding with different thoughts running through my head.

"Is she dead? Did she get injured?" I asked myself in fear as I tried to stop bad thoughts from engulfing me any further and decided to wait for their reports.

" What is that in your hand and where is Catherine?" I asked with my heart pounding in my chest as I embraced myself for whatever news they might bring.

"Your Highness, we found this in the bush this morning as we went in search of her."

"That doesn't answer my question. Where is Catherine?" I asked again.

"We can't seem to find her as we have already searched the whole place. Maybe, she must have been killed by some mythical creatures at night.

"That is not possible. Who was on duty when she escaped?" I asked as I scanned them with my cold glare.

Three guards stepped forward and kneeled before me as they revealed they were on duty.

" Now tell me. How can a single omega escape your sight?!" I asked as they all gazed down and stayed silently.

" Who among you guys helped her to escape?!!" I demanded angrily, making them shiver in cold sweat.

"We.. We... didn't know how she escaped, you Highness." One of the guards said with his voice trembling slightly.

I was boiling with rage as I landed a hot slap across his face, making the others gasp in shock.

"Did you want to tell me that she developed some kind of magic and disappeared?! Is that what you want to tell me?! Answer me!!"

"No...No. Your Highness." He stuttered as he shook his head.

"Take them to the dungeon and torture them until they are ready to confess," I ordered, coldly.

"No, your Highness. Have mercy on us, we are innocent." The guards pleaded as they were being dragged out of the room.

"How can she escape without any help and where will she go?" I asked myself as I continued pacing forth and back.

I was in the dining room eating when my thoughts went back to Catherine, "Is she dead? Where could she have run to?"

"Is anything the matter, Your Highness?" Princess Petra asked, jolting me out of my thoughts.

"Ummm... I am fine." I answered as I deep my spoon into my cold meal to eat.

"I heard Catherine has escaped from the dungeon," Petra asked as she cut a piece of meat and placed it in her mouth.

"Mmm..yes," I responded, softly.

"Have the guards been able to find her? I mean, she couldn't have gone that far." I thought to myself.

"They weren't able to find her, they saw her clothes which made them assume that she's dead."

"I will be good if she's dead at least she will pay for her crime. That girl is so wicked and heartless. Did you know that she drowned her mother to death?" she revealed with disgust.

"I heard the story. It was just an accident and besides, why would you wish her dead." I asked with disappointment as Petra choked on her food, making her cough.

" Sorry, drink some water."

Petra placed her cutleries down as she gazed at me suspiciously.

" Did you just scold me? Like, Are you taking her side right down?" She asked, gazing at me angrily.

"Can you just allow me to eat my food in peace?" I glared at her, making her swallow what she was about to say.

We continued eating in silence as I made up my mind to see the guards at the dungeon after eating my meal.

A smell of blood and smoke engulfed me as I stepped into the dungeon.

" Well come, your Highness." The guards rose and bowed their heads to greet me with respect as I nodded in return.

"Take me to those fools," I asked Mark, one of the guards.

" Yes, Your Highness. This way."

They led me to the area where the guards were being kept and tortured.

I saw them lying on the floor with blood all over their body.

"Welcome, your Highness." They greeted me on seeing me as they struggled to stand up.

" Are you guys ready to speak up now?" I asked, coldly.

"Your Highness, We don't know anything about it please, believe us. We can never go against your order."

I don't know, there is something in me that made me believe they were saying the truth.

" Alright. Release them." I ordered as they gazed at each other in shock while Mark removed the chains that were being used to chain their legs together.

" Mark, I want you to take some guards with you into the forest to look for Catherine. I have a strong belief that she's not dead and don't come back until you find her." I ordered.

"Yes, your Highness." he bowed his head and left.

I know she is not dead, even my wolf refused to believe it. I left the dungeon back to the palace in the hope that the guards would find her.

This is the second week the guard has been searching for Catherine and they haven't reported back to me.

"Could it be because they haven't found her?" I worried as I was heading to the throne room to see the elders that had requested to see me even though I didn't know their reasons for summoning this meeting.

I stepped into the throne room as everyone rose to greet me.

"Why this sudden meeting?" I asked, coldly.

"We heard, you sent some of the guards in search of that lowlife girl for the past two weeks now and we are getting worried." one of the elders said.

"You mean, you all brought yourself here just to question me? You all must have eaten a lion's heart to summon me just to ask me this!" I thundered with anger evident in my voice.

"Umm.. Your Highness. We were just.."

" This meeting is adjourned," I said as I was fuming with rage and the elders had no other choice but to bow their heads and leave.

A few minutes later, a guard stepped in to inform me that Mark and some of the guards who had gone to search for Catherine were here to see me.

I asked him to bring them in as a grip of hope arose within me.

They paced quietly as they bowed their head to greet me.

"We are sorry your Highness, we.. We.. have searched everywhere but we couldn't find her," Mark said almost in whispers as his voice trembled.

" Fuck! Fuck! Are you sure you searched the whole place?"

"Yes, Your Highness. We even went to our neighboring pack.

I was in a state of melancholy when the door to the throne room opened and my eyes fell on someone, leaving me stunned.

Selena?! How is this possible?
