Chapter 45

King Bryans POV

After being told that I was only waiting to see if she would recover, I went to hunt down everyone responsible for this. Especially that man in the dungeon. He might know what was going on, and I needed him to confess or help me. The fighting was going on in the castle. I walked up to a group of men who were in hand-to-hand combat. I grabbed one by the throat and ripped his head off. I was in no mood to be nice. I was not going to be nice to anyone. I made sure not to hurt any of my men. One of the vampires that was attacking us ran up to me and grabbed me by the throat. I fought him off. I took my nails and clawed down his face. I left a huge cut across his face. Another enemy vampire attacked me this time, and he was able to scratch me.

I threw him to the ground and, in one fluid motion, ripped off his head. When all the enemy vampires were dead, I went back to Rebecca. I went back to our room. She was still out. William was watching over her.

" How is she?"

" She is healing."

" You were right to turn her into a full vampire."

She was healing. That was what I needed her to do. The next few days, when she was in and out of consciousness, we alternated between giving her blood and water. At one point, we tried to give her food, but she was too weak to eat. Finally, after three days, she woke up. I was so happy. She was going to be OK. I decided to have the ceremony that evening. I wanted to complete the wedding ceremony and the marking ceremony. We had drained several people over the last few days. There was no need for her to have that much blood. Now she needed to eat food and have blood.

We completed the ceremony. Then it was time to go to bed. I told her that I loved her, and she said it back to me. I was glad that we got the ceremony over with. The next day, there was a lot going on. I had let Leon out of the dungeon because he knew nothing. He was heavily guarded and not allowed to be by himself. He could have probably outrun some of the guards that were with him. When Rebecca woke up, she needed to learn how to move as a vampire. We were faster than humans. She started to run. I was watching from a distance. She was about to fall when I caught her. She was going to need to learn how to move. There were a lot of things she needed to learn. I had brought Leon out of the dungeon and was hoping to reunite them. However, when Rebecca saw him, she yelled at him and ran the other way. I followed her.

" Rebecca, what's wrong?"

" I don't want to see him."

" Why?"

" He was the reason I got stabbed."

I tried to explain to her that I thought it was an accident. But she was not going to hear any of it. She thought that he purposely stabbed her. I had work to do. It was going to be hard to make her want to be around him. Maybe I was pushing too hard for this. Leon is her brother. She needed to get to know him. I knew that he did not mean to stab her. She was confused and scared right now. She would have to face that fact sooner or later. I don't think she wanted to get to know him, considering that she was so young when she disappeared. I wanted her to get to know her family.

" Baby, he did not mean for you to get hurt."

" I know."

"Don't know how to feel about him."

" Sit here and think about it."

I let her sit in the dining hall. She needed time. She was just brutally stabbed by other vampires. They wanted her for her powers. It was not fair what she was going through. She is the missing princess. However, she doesn't know how to feel about what has happened to her. I don't blame her. She was abused and mistreated. She seems to have never caught a break from what has happened. I went to find Leon. I needed to ask him a few questions. He was sitting in the great hall.

" Leon. I need to ask you some questions."

" Yes, my king."

"Tell me what happened that night your family was attacked."

He started to explain to me that his mother and father had been getting everyone out of the palace. Leon said they got the boys out first because they were supposed to be the most important. They went back for Rebecca, and that was when she was attacked, and their mother was killed. The question I had for their father was why did her father not change her? He could have if he really wanted to. However, that was his choice as well. Did she not want to be a vampire? I knew that some human mates wanted to stay humans. But she was with the king of vampires. Rebecca wanted to be changed because she was struggling to be half-and-half. She will retain some of her abilities. Like she would have an easier time in the sunlight than I would. During the day, I will have to tap into my ability to be in the sunlight.

I have to have my body create a special chemical that allows me to walk in the sunlight. All vampires have that ability. Her father went to find his boys but was killed. Leon took his brother and fled into the woods. He had come to get Rebecca, thinking that I had kidnapped her. However, that was not the case. He told me that after he found out that she was my mate, he was going to leave, then she turned into the knife and accidentally got stabbed. He admitted that the knife was silver because he thought that he would need it.
