Chapter 33

King Byran's POV

After making love to Rebecca, I fell asleep for a while. She was still tight, as if she were a virgin. She was sleeping soundly. I had to get up. People were starting to fill the dining hall. I got out of bed and quietly got dressed. I had a surprise for Rebecca. I had a black rose dress made for her. It was what all vampire princesses wear. This week is a busy one. We are going to have our ceremony that keeps getting interrupted by everything under the sun. She was strong enough now. She is healthy enough as well. I had a special dress made for her—numerous things needed to be addressed. I tried to open the old, creaky door as quietly as possible. I succeeded; I was able to slip out the door without waking her up. She needed as much rest as possible.

I walked into the dining hall. Brent was sitting down and eating breakfast.

" Hey, what's up?"

" Do you have reports for me?"

" The borders are secured."

He explained to me that the young warriors were doing very well. They were progressing in their training. He had set up a gym for Rebecca to train in. It was private. I wanted to have alone time with her while we trained. Training was essential for defending oneself and the kingdom. He also explained to me that the new barracks were being built. There has been no issue with that building. He then reported that humans have been under attack frequently lately by werewolves. That was not surprising, given that they had run into Kull's warriors. This situation was not conducive to having my ceremonies. I had several to attend to.

Additionally, we had a wedding to attend. Several issues needed to be addressed. It was the time of the year for festivals to begin. There was the fall festival, followed by the Halloween festival. There was so much to do, and it felt like there was so little time to address it all. Tonight I wanted to spend time with Vanessa and try out the new gym. I had not yet had time to inspect it. The plan is to examine it before I take her. Then Jen came in carrying the box with the dress that I had ordered. I opened the box. It was perfect. I had Jen go put it in my room, so Rebecca could have it when she woke up. I had to listen to a bunch of village issues among the vampires.

I sometimes hated being king, but that was my job. There were disputes about some land. One person claimed it belonged to him, and they continued to argue back and forth. I got tired of it. I had them split it between them. They seemed to be happy with the decision. Then, a few were accused of stealing. I sentenced them to thirty days in jail, and they must pay the fine. Rebecca should be awake now. I excused myself to see Rebecca. Brent informed everyone that the court was adjourned for the day. It was time to enjoy ourselves. I walked back to our bedroom. When I walked in, Rebecca was adjusting her dress. She looked stunning. She thanked me. I walked up to her and kissed her. I then escorted her to the dining hall. We had just sat down to eat when there was a commotion in the hallway. I got up to see what the matter was.

I walked out into the hallway. There were werewolves here in their castle. I ordered Nick to go protect Rebecca. These are Kull's men. They were expert fighters. They caught us with our pants down. We were unprepared for an attack. The leader of Kull's warriors, Roman, walked towards me.

" You killed some of my men."

" They attacked humans."

" Yes, they were ordered to."

I had had enough talk. I let my teeth down and then elongated my nails. It was time to fight. I lounged at him. I hit him in the face with my fist. He swung back and hit me in the mouth. I then kicked him in the stomach. He dropped to his knees. He then shifted to a werewolf. That was not a surprise. I expected him to shift the minute he noticed it was me. However, he did not. His wolf was one of the strongest that there is, next to the king of werewolves. His wolf's name is Ramsey. He takes his paw and swipes at me. He hits me hard enough to knock me over. I get back up and lounge at him. I stabbed him in the chest with my nails. I then bite him as hard as I can. He howls in pain. His blood starts squirting everywhere. I must have hit a vein when I bit him. He shifted back to his human form and ran out of the castle.

There were still other wolves to fight. A lot of them were fighting in their human form. Nick runs out of the dining hall. Where the hell is Rebecca? He runs up to me and informs me that she refused to hide. I didn't even start arguing with him. I ran back into the dining hall. Rebecca was hitting someone over the head with a cauldron. How she was able to swing that thing was a miracle. Those things are heavy, even when empty. The man who was fighting Rebecca was bleeding from the head. He had blood running down his face. She was actually doing really well. She could swing things. However, she was not using her feet or fists to fight. It was amusing to watch. The man was in astonishment that this little girl was fighting so hard. He pushed her hard enough to knock her over.

That pissed me off. I lounged at the man who pushed her. She fell back and hit her head on the table in the dining hall. She was knocked out. She wasn't moving. Brooke picked her up and ran out of the room with her. I knew she would get to the physician. William would take care of her. She would bandage her up and get her the help that she needed. She would have a wicked headache when she woke up again. I would need to have William make up some powder stuff for her after seeing the dining hall door close. I turned my attention to the werewolf in front of me.

"You hurt my mate."

" You will pay for what you have done."

I could hear everyone around me fighting. Then the noise started to fade. It was just me and me in the room. I then lunged at him and clawed him down the middle of his stomach. His guts spilling out and landing on the floor. I then heard werewolves start to howl. They were being killed. Someone must have gotten to the silver weapons to fight them. The man was dying; he could not heal fast enough from that wound. Within seconds, he was on the floor, dead. I kept hitting him over and over again. I rushed out of the dining hall.
