Chapter 80: Epilogue

AMY.

The sounds of birds tweeting afar off and the radiant glow of the sun gracing our bedroom through the transparent wall woke me up.

“Morning,” Logan beamed beside me on the bed, his right arm holding on to my waist beneath the white blanket.

“Morning,'' I whispered before placing a soft kiss on his lips. It might just be a small kiss but my wolf and I were brewing with joy deep within and he was no different either. It wasn't the kiss alone but the morning too. This morning was different from the other ones.

“I didn't think you would look this good with a beard,” I remarked while I played with his full-grown whiskers. “You make me want to have another baby for you.”

He chuckled. “That was the goal. These days you test me so much that we might have another pair of twins if we aren't careful.”

We drifted closer to each other.

“Twins? Isn't that a far stretch? Have you forgotten the hell the little ones gave us?”

“Now that I think about it, we should scratch that.”

I laughed, still playing with his beard.

“I love you, Amy,” he whispered.

“Do I?” I teased him.

“True, do you? I mean it's not like there’s a man out there with better charms than me.”

“Fair point, I guess I'll stick with you. Love you, big boy.”

“Of course, you have to.” He flashed a cocky smile, then took my hand, staring at the ring on my finger. “It’s been twenty good years you’ve spent with this jerk, how did you manage to cope?”

“I know right?!” I laughed. “But in the end, he’s the man that my heart longs for. Besides, those days of being jerky are long gone.”

“Happy anniversary, Amy Wilson.”

“Happy anniversary to us, Logan Wilson. Cheers to more years together.”

“This is the part where we’re supposed to clink our glasses together.”

Our lips locked once again but this time, it was deeper. His cock slowly rubbed between my thighs while his hands trailed softly behind my guard, I briskly mounted him, catching him off guard. I pinned his hands to the bed.

“Wanna make another baby?” I winked, and his cock twitched beneath me.

“I’m all yours, baby.”

And just like that, we had chosen to drown our morning to the tunes of our lust and pleasure. From our king-size bed to the showers, the kitchen and back to the showers again. For every anniversary we celebrated, we visited one place or the other but this time, all we wanted was to have ourselves at home.

“Is it weird we haven't gotten calls from the kids?” Logan muttered as he fed Hyacinth while I busied myself reading a book on the white couch.

“It is,” I remarked while I flipped a page over.

“They couldn't have forgotten about us, right?” he worriedly asked.

“Nadia still remembers the first time you bought her first novel and Aidan still keeps cherishing the first set of pencils I’d bought for him. It will take a whole lot for them to forget our anniversary. Those two are scheming something somewhere.”

He smiled. “I hope it's a good one.”

“And I hope they prank you once again like the last time, damn it felt so good.”

He rolled his eyes. “I won't fall for their tricks again.”

“You always do,” I laughed.

“Every year!” Hyacinth chirped.

“I hate you two!” he huffed and closed Hyacinth’s cage but that didn't stop me from laughing anyway. He headed to the fireplace a few meters beside me and remained there, admiring our family portrait. The four of us but with the twins all grown up, Logan and I had barely aged, thanks to the perks of our nature.

From the way his ears moved, I could tell he had a grin.

“Weren't they eighteen when we took this?” he mumbled and I hummed.

“Ah,” he exhaled lightly. “I miss those days when they were so little in our arms.”

My smile deepened as my focus diverted to the portrait too.

“Now, Aidan is so busy with work at Silver Crescent Pack, Nadia is the lead medical researcher at Silver Rose…”

I closed my book and went to join him. “Aren't you happy?”

“I am,” he sighed. “But at the same time, I don't want them to get so engrossed with work and forget how to enjoy the beauty of life. They’ll be turning twenty soon and they’re yet to find their mates. It kind of bothers me.”

I intertwined my right hand with his left while I leaned on his shoulder.

“You worry too much, Logie. Good things take time. Besides, I have a feeling they’ll be meeting their mates soon.”

“Oliver will be the first to clamor for a party when that happens,” he replied.

I chuckled, “Just like he did for Simon and Aubrey.”

“Gosh, Aubrey’s own was more than a party!”

“And he’ll throw a bigger one knowing the kids involved are the children of the Alpha King and Luna Queen.”

We both laughed and then silence danced between us but it wasn't an awkward one. Both of us were lost in our worlds, reminiscing old memories we shared with our babies. That was until a knock graced our door.

Logan and I smiled at each other before rushing to the door together.

“Surprise!!!” the entire family yelled at our doorstep. Aidan, Nadia, Mother, Sarah, Oliver, Simon and his mate, Aubrey and her mate, David and his family, Clinton and his family. Seeing them all grinning at our doorstep easily brought me to tears. In a way, it reminded me of our past struggles, how much it had tormented us and how we overcame them to be where we are today. My tears couldn't stop flowing from the complimentary greetings, hugs and love.

“Look at you, you’ve grown bigger! I bet you’ve forgotten what my food tastes like," I whined to my daughter and she giggled.

“Come on, Mom, you have no idea how much I've missed you! I’m staying for a week!” she said while she wiped my tears off.

“Well, your dad and I could use a little trouble in the house.”

She giggled and then hugged me again. “Happy anniversary, Mom, you’re the best!”

Tears soaked my eyes again.

“And don't tell me you’re crying again,” she said and I kissed her silver hair before laughing.

“Ugh, you’re hell-bent on growing taller than your father, eh?” Logan teased our son who was just a few feet away from us.

“Since when did you own a beard?” he quipped back.

Since your mother started liking it,” he winked and both of them laughed before hugging him briefly.

“Missed you so much pops,” he whispered.

“Missed you too, kiddo,” Logan whispered back, fighting back the tears that tried to encroach.

He then came to meet me with that smile of his that had a sheer resemblance to his father’s. “Ah, you keep glowing! The old man is doing a really good job!”

“We’re way still in our prime, young man!” I quipped back and the twins giggled.

“Just so you know, I don’t miss you,” he teased and I dragged him by the ear.

“Ow ow, this is why I don’t miss you!”

“This is why you’re still single!”

He laughed and then hugged me. “Happy for you two, Mom. Please keep glowing and be our ray of sunshine.”

I hummed, patting his back gently.

“We should throw a party!” Oliver suddenly yelled.

“Ah, this is why I don’t miss you.” Logan rolled his eyes.

“I mean what’s an anniversary without a party!” he defended and everyone laughed.

When the night came, Logan and I left the others inside and toured the lakeside. We needed our solitude after all. With our arms holding each other's waist and my head finding comfort on his shoulder we enjoyed the moon gracing the sky beautifully.

“Oh, would you look at that?” He pointed to the white ducks paddling across the lake. The ripples they created made me reflect on the memories we shared.

“Remember the first time we met?” I mumbled.

“Everything about me was so off to you besides saving you.”

“Yeah.” I smiled. “You easily came off as a proud jerk.”

“Yup,” he chuckled. “I mean who doesn't know the Alpha King?”

“I didn't.”

“And that’s where our history all began,” he mumbled while my smile deepened. “Now that I think about it, I regret the way I acted to you back then. I should have done better to ease you.”

“Yup, you should have. I wouldn't have distrusted you as much.”

“But you know what I don't regret doing that day?”

“What?” I looked up to him.

He peered deeply into my eyes. “Saving you.”

I gave him a soft kiss. “Twenty years and still counting,” I whispered. “I’m proud of us.”

“I am too. Proud of the life we have now and the one that is yet to come.”

I breathed softly, letting myself enjoy the charms of his golden eyes. “Will you continue to be my knight in shining armor for the rest of our lives?”

He held my cheek dearly. “Always. Always, my love.”
