Chapter 58

Chapter 58

Hearing this, Freya's anxious heart instantly settled halfway, and joy appeared on her face. It seemed Amelia really hadn't lied to her. Thinking of this, she found a phone and quickly dialed.

Early the next morning, Willow, as usual, dressed herself elegantly and properly, preparing to go out to the beauty salon for a spa. She had just walked to the entrance when Amelia quickly stood up from the sofa, wearing an obedient and gentle smile on her face, and hurried over.

"Aunt Willow, are you going out?" Amelia asked with a smile, her tone intimate, and she even reached out to help straighten Willow's coat.

Willow nodded and said, "Yes, going to the beauty salon for a spa to relax."

A trace of grievance appeared on Amelia's face. She gently tugged at Willow's arm, her voice soft: "Aunt Willow, can I go with you? I'm about to return to the Brown Manor and don't know when I'll be able to see you again."

"You know, I've had no mother since I was little. I've always thought of you as my own mother. Before, when you accepted me as your adopted daughter, I hadn't had a chance to properly show my respect to you yet. I just want to spend more time with you while I'm still here, and pick out a gift for you - it's just a small token of my feelings."

As she spoke, her eyes reddened slightly, full of sincerity and grievance, looking particularly pitiful. Willow was kindhearted to begin with, and seeing Amelia like this, her heart instantly softened.

She thought of Amelia's background - truly pitiful. Moreover, during this time, Amelia had stayed by her side and been very respectful to her.

Now that Amelia said she was returning to the Brown Manor and wanted to pick out a gift for her, how could she bear to refuse?

"Why are you being so formal with me?" Willow patted Amelia's hand, her tone gentle. "If you want to go, let's go together. You can keep me company and chat. No need to pick out a gift - just having your thoughtfulness makes me very happy."

Amelia's face instantly showed a delighted smile, and she quickly nodded: "Thank you, Aunt Willow! You're so good to me!" But inwardly she was secretly pleased - as expected, Willow was softhearted and agreed with just a little coaxing.

They got in the car together, and the driver drove smoothly toward the beauty salon.

Throughout the journey, Amelia kept talking to Willow, sometimes praising how well Willow maintained herself, sometimes chatting about everyday matters, making Willow smile so much she couldn't stop, and her fondness for Amelia grew even more.

While talking, Amelia quietly took out her phone and sent Freya a message, informing her of the specific location and time.

Freya quickly replied, saying she was ready and telling her not to worry.

Amelia put away her phone, her face returning to its gentle smile, continuing to chat with Willow as if nothing had happened.

When they arrived at the beauty salon and had just gotten out of the car, from around the corner, not far away, a black car came speeding toward them.

Amelia looked up and saw this scene. Her face instantly showed a panicked expression, and she suddenly pushed Willow aside.

Before Willow could react, she was pushed by Amelia and stumbled backward several steps.

And Amelia was hit by the out-of-control car and sent flying. She fell heavily to the ground, blood immediately gushing from her mouth, her body lying there motionless.

"Amelia!" Willow was terrified and panicked. She quickly got up from the ground and, ignoring the pain in her body, stumbled over to Amelia.

Looking at Amelia lying on the ground covered in blood, tears immediately streamed down her face, her voice trembling: "Amelia, how are you? Don't scare me!"

She frantically took out her phone, her hands shaking uncontrollably, and finally managed to dial emergency services.

After hitting someone, the out-of-control car didn't stop but instead sped up and drove out of everyone's sight. Many passersby quickly gathered around, taking out their phones to photograph and discuss, and some people came forward voluntarily, wanting to help Willow rescue Amelia.

Willow held Amelia's head tightly, her tears constantly falling on Amelia's face, muttering: "Amelia, hang in there, the ambulance will be here soon, you must hang in there! This is all my fault. If I hadn't let you come with me, you wouldn't have gotten hurt..."

Her heart was filled with fear and guilt. Just now, in that instant when Amelia pushed her away, she saw clearly that Amelia was hit by the car to protect her.

She had never imagined that Amelia would risk her life to save her.

When William received the call, he was in an important meeting. Chase rushed in, his face pale, and whispered in William's ear: "Mr. Brown, something terrible has happened. Mrs. Brown had an accident. She was in a car accident at the beauty salon entrance. Ms. Martinez was hit by a car trying to protect Mrs. Brown, and now Ms. Martinez has been sent to the hospital for emergency treatment."

"What?" William suddenly stood up. "How could there be a car accident? How is my mother? How is Amelia?"

Everyone in the conference room was startled by his sudden reaction, and all fell silent, looking at him. William paid no attention to everyone's gazes and angrily said to Chase, "What are you standing there for? Get the car ready, we're going to the hospital!"

"Yes, Mr. Brown!" Chase didn't dare delay and immediately turned to prepare the car.

William grabbed his coat and strode out of the conference room, his heart in complete chaos. He couldn't understand how Willow could have been in a car accident out of nowhere, and moreover, Amelia had been hit by a car trying to protect Willow.

He thought of how respectful Amelia usually was to Willow, how she had always quietly stayed by Willow's side, and his heart was filled with mixed emotions.

The car sped along, and William sat inside, constantly urging the driver to go faster, his eyes full of anxiety.

Soon, the car arrived at the hospital. William pushed open the car door and rushed quickly into the hospital.

When he reached the emergency room, from a distance he saw Willow sitting on a bench outside the operating room, her face pale, eyes red and swollen, clutching tissues in her hand, constantly wiping away tears.

"Mom, how are you? Are you hurt?" William quickly walked over, crouched beside Willow, and asked urgently, reaching out to touch Willow's arm to check if she was injured.

When Willow saw William, as if she had found her anchor, her tears fell even harder. She grabbed William's hand and said chokingly: "William, you're finally here... Amelia... Amelia tried to protect me and was hit by a car. She's still in the operating room being treated. I don't know how she is..."

"Mom, don't worry. Amelia will be fine. The doctors will definitely cure her." William gently patted Willow's back to comfort her, though his own heart was very uneasy. He looked up at the red light outside the operating room door, silently praying in his heart that Amelia would be safe.

"This is all my fault, all my fault..." Willow cried while blaming herself. "If I hadn't let Amelia come with me to the beauty salon, she wouldn't have gotten hurt. I'm the one who harmed her..."

"Mom, this isn't your fault. No one expected this to happen." William comforted her. "Don't be too upset, take care of yourself. Amelia still needs you to look after her."

Willow nodded but still couldn't control her tears.

After what seemed like forever, the red light outside the operating room finally went off. The doctor came out, removed his mask, showing a trace of fatigue on his face.

William and Willow quickly stood up, hurried over, and asked urgently, "Doctor, how is she? Is the patient okay?"

The doctor smiled and said, "Don't worry, the patient is out of danger now. However, she suffered serious injuries - multiple fractures and a mild concussion. She needs to rest well for a while, but there's no immediate danger to her life."

Hearing this, both William and Willow breathed a sigh of relief, their anxious hearts finally settling down. Willow was so moved she almost cried and quickly said: "Thank you, doctor, thank you!"

"You're welcome, this is what we should do." The doctor said, "The patient now needs to be transferred to a regular ward to recuperate. You can go see her, but please note that the patient just had surgery and is still very weak. Don't let her get too excited, and don't talk for too long."

"Okay, we understand. Thank you, doctor." William quickly responded.

Amelia was wheeled back to a regular ward by the nurses. Her face was as pale as paper, covered with a blanket, eyes tightly closed, looking very weak.

Willow sat by the bedside, tightly holding Amelia's hand, her eyes full of heartache, tears falling again uncontrollably.

William stood to the side, looking at the weak Amelia lying in bed, also feeling very uncomfortable.
