Chapter 53: The Demons Three
One Week Later
Abnegazar's P.O.V.
My brothers and I are preparing to descend on the Silver Lunar pack at midnight tonight. We had watched what they did to Kakia and knew we needed more time to prepare. The pack has more people with powers than we anticipated. We will still win, but it may take more effort than we thought. As long as we can get Sienna and Cassidy, then everyone else can die. We don't need an army like Kakia. The three of us have killed bigger groups than Silver Lunar. That's why Satan put us to sleep. This time, he won't be fast enough.
I look out as the sun begins to set. It's almost time. In only a few more hours, we will take over Earth and Hell. It will be the end of the world as everyone knows it, and the gods will bow to us.

Sienna's P.O.V.
We have been training so hard while we wait for the next attack. It's been a week since our fight with Kakia, and we're all a lot stronger now. Everyone is comfortable using their powers, and we have learned how to combine them to make us even more powerful. Lizette says we're ready, but I feel like she's hiding something. I'm too afraid to ask her what it is because I'm worried I won't like the answer. We've just finished eating dinner, and we're getting ready to turn in for the night when Lizette stops us.
"They'll be here tonight," she says.
"What? How do you know?" I ask her. Mav puts his arm around me.
"I can feel the darkness coming. If I had to guess, I believe they'll be here around midnight. It's a new moon tonight, so it will be darker than usual. Get all the pups and those who won't be fighting into the basement. They plan to kill us all. We need to use everything we've been practicing. If you see someone hurt or worse, don't let it distract you. We have to defeat them, or we'll all be dead." Lizette looks at me and then looks away.
"Everyone, go get ready. Spend time with your mates. Lizette, can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask, pulling her to the side. Mav and Zion follow us.
"Sure," she answers but doesn't look at me.
"What aren't you telling us?" She looks up at me and smiles slightly.
"I should have known you could tell I was hiding something. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to scare everyone," she replies, looking around.
"It's just us. Tell me what you know," I tell her. She sighs and looks at Zion.
"Not all of us will survive tonight. I can't tell you who, when, or how, but some of us won't make it. If everyone is waiting to see who's going to be killed, then they'll be too distracted to fight the demons. Everyone needs to focus. You and Maverick will be fine. I can guarantee that." Lizette says softly, even though everyone except the four of us has left.
"Besides their demon abilities, should we expect any other surprises?" She shakes her head.
"No. They all pretty much look the same, ugly and all dressed in black. Abnegazar is taller and thinner than the other two. Rath is short and round. Ghast is average in size. Together, they are powerful, but we have a chance if we can separate them. Taking even one of them away will weaken the other two," Lizette explains.
"Okay, let's get ready." We leave the dining hall and go our separate ways. I take Mav into our room and sit on the couch. I straddle his lap so I can wrap myself around him. He's much stronger and has more confidence than when we first met. However, I know his best time is when it's just the two of us together. He needs the quiet to settle his thoughts.
Mav wraps his arms around me and buries his nose in my neck to breathe in my scent. I take comfort in his scent as well. I understand why Lizette didn't tell everyone that someone was going to die. Part of me wishes I didn't know either because now that is all I can think about. Maybe if we can kill one of the demons, it will make the other two weak enough so we can kill them before anyone from our side gets killed.
"We have to kill one of the demons," Mav says against my neck.
"I was just thinking the same thing. It may be the only way to save all of us. I know she said someone was going to die, but maybe she was also telling us how we could prevent it." I put my forehead against his.
"Sienna, you're the strongest person I know, but please don't take unnecessary risks when we're fighting. I don't know if you understand I can't live without you." I slide my hands into Mav's hair and kiss him. Tears run down my cheeks when I feel his pain at the thought of losing me. It's the same pain I feel when I think of losing him.
"I promise I won't do anything stupid. I love you, I say. He kisses me and pulls me closer.
"I love you too." Neither of us says anything else. This is the battle we've been preparing for. Please let us find a way for all of us to survive.
______________
Midnight
All of the pups, elders, and others who aren't fighting are hidden in the basement of the pack house. The rest of us are waiting outside, ready to face the demons. Mav and I are standing in front of the others, holding hands.
Lightning fills the sky, and the temperature drops a few degrees. The three demons appear about fifty yards from us. They are dressed in black, with their faces partially covered by their long black cloaks. One of them laughs, causing a chill to run down my spine. When he speaks, the temperature drops even more.
"Prepare to die."
