Chapter 625: First Team Clear
After the Azureflame Raven King was suppressed by the Seven Stars' Sanction, the azure flames posed almost no threat to everyone. Plus, with Eric's timely warnings about when and where the fire-breathing would come, the team hadn't taken a single hit yet.
However, the Azureflame Raven King only truly showed its power in the third phase.
The group had fought the Azureflame Raven King dozens of times, always getting stuck at its third phase.
As the Azureflame Raven King entered the third phase, everyone couldn't help but feel tense.
If this were the Adversity-level Azureflame Raven King, they wouldn't be worried - after all, their combat power had increased by more than one level, making it easy to clear. But this was Infernal-level, which naturally meant enhanced abilities.
The Azureflame Raven King let out a roar, and eighteen azure flame ravens descended from the sky.
Compared to the Adversity-level third phase, the Infernal-level third phase not only triggered at 70% health, but these azure flame ravens started out as Chieftain Grade...
In Adversity-level, they started as special elites that any main team member could handle solo, but Chieftain Grade was completely different - fewer than ten people in the whole raid could deal with one.
Moreover, the Infernal-level Chieftain Grade azure flame ravens had even higher health - a full 900,000 HP, 200,000 more than their Adversity-level counterparts. This pushed the DPS requirement to an insane level.
Keep in mind that the azure flame ravens' growth ability only needed two minutes to turn them into Overlord Grade, making them even harder to deal with. But eighteen ravens meant a total of 16.2 million HP...
"This boss is so unfair," Tonny said with a serious expression.
If this were Adversity-level, his saved-up Luminous Celestialflare would help somewhat, but with 900,000 HP, even Luminous Celestialflare wouldn't make much difference.
"Everyone activate Dark Power!" Eric commanded.
The whole team activated Dark Power, boosting their stats by 30%.
Cola, the main tank, saw his health jump to just over 20,000, while Shield Warrior Evan Hotcher reached 19,000. Both their damage output and reaction speed improved significantly.
With the Seven Stars' Sanction suppression and the stat-boosted Violet Mistflow healing, just three people could hold off the Azureflame Raven King for a short time.
"Turtledove, go establish aggro on the azure flame ravens. All magic classes, wait for my signal to use AoE skills!" Eric said calmly.
Guardian Knight Turtledove, with over 17,000 HP, immediately rushed into the raven flock and used Iron Will, drawing all eighteen ravens' attention.
Then Turtledove used Blessing of Protection.
Tier-1 Blessing of Protection reduced damage by 70%, much stronger than the 50% at tier-0, and lasted slightly longer at 20 seconds.
But Chieftain Grade azure flame ravens were no joke. With eighteen of them, each peck dealt nearly 500 damage to Turtledove. Fortunately, only six could surround and attack at once, meaning each wave dealt about 3,000 damage - not much of a threat to Turtledove's 17,000+ HP.
As healing spells rained down, each restoring one to two thousand HP, Turtledove's health stayed stable.
But Blessing of Protection only lasted twenty seconds. Once it wore off, blocking six ravens' attacks would be impossible.
"Perfect!"
Eric smiled, found the right position, and used Celestial Wheel Sword. Golden swords rained from the sky, immediately locking down all eighteen ravens.
Damage numbers of over 4,000 popped up everywhere, with crits hitting over 8,000. Of course, Turtledove in the middle also took damage - this was why AoE skills were tricky to use in dungeons. But thanks to Blessing of Protection and Iron Will, Turtledove only took about 700 damage, barely a scratch.
But Eric wasn't satisfied yet.
"Tonny, use Radiant Ward on Turtledove!" Eric said.
Radiant Ward made the target immune to all magic damage, reduced physical damage by 80%, and restored 5% HP per second for 20 seconds - an absolutely incredible defensive skill.
Tonny waved his staff, and a faint golden glow bloomed around Turtledove.
Then Eric held nothing back, activating Power of the Wyrm for 100% increased strength, then using the Ring of Fire's Flame Storm skill.
Just as the towering flames were about to engulf Turtledove, Eric switched the Ring of Fire for the Ring of Water and used Life Bloom on Turtledove. With the 100% healing boost, Turtledove could recover 60% HP over 40 seconds. With Turtledove's health pool, it was practically immortality.
While Flame Storm dealt over 40,000 damage per second to the ravens (over 80,000 on crits), it did nothing to Turtledove thanks to magic immunity. Plus with Life Bloom restoring over 10,000 HP per second, combined with healer spells and the Priest's shields, the ravens' attacks were like tickles - Turtledove could stand still and not die.
Everyone was stunned.
The female knight Turtledove battled the ravens amid raging flames, the destructive fire seeming like a gentle breeze. Not only unharmed, she fought harder and harder, like a goddess of fire, commanding awe.
"Everyone use AoE attacks!" Eric commanded repeatedly.
Soon the team's magic users unleashed AoE skills. Though not as powerful as major destruction spells, they still dealt several thousand damage to the ravens.
Tonny's Luminous Celestialflare dealt massive damage - the first star hit for over 4,000, with each subsequent hit increasing by 10% over 15 seconds.
Eric also found opportunities to use Dragon's Breath, Thunderbolt, Wrath of the Flame God, Earthshatter Strike, Inferno Thunderstorm, and other AoE skills.
After fifteen seconds, all eighteen ravens were half-dead, with less than one-twentieth of their health remaining. Some ravens that got hit by too many crits died outright.
Only eleven of the eighteen ravens remained.
Eric flashed forward, taking out these ravens with a few strikes each. Combined with the team's damage output, they were all eliminated in under ten seconds.
With the ravens gone, dealing with the Azureflame Raven King became much easier, especially with Eric's Power of the Wyrm doubling his damage.
In less than three minutes, the Azureflame Raven King's health dropped to just over a million.
"Finally here," Eric smiled faintly.
The Azureflame Raven King had four phases total. Everyone thought the third phase was the deadliest, not knowing the fourth phase was the boss's trump card.
The fourth phase triggered when the Azureflame Raven King's health dropped below one million - when the whole team was most exhausted and relaxed. At that moment, the Azureflame Raven King would transform into flames and become a fire raven, dealing 1,000 damage per second to everyone within 50 yards. But that was Adversity-level - Infernal-level dealt 1,600 per second. If they couldn't burn through the remaining million HP before the whole raid died, it was a wipe.
In his past life, countless teams died repeatedly in the fourth phase, simply lacking a true finishing skill to get through it.
As the Azureflame Raven King's health approached one million, Eric activated Blade Liberation - 90% increased strength and agility. He used Silent Stride to appear behind the boss, his body glowing faintly, the Abyssal Blade blazing with brilliant flames.
Divine Blessing!
Pyroblast Burst!
Strike after strike slammed into the Azureflame Raven King's back.
-122154!
-61846!
-122454!
...
Fifteen consecutive strikes, and the million-plus HP vanished. The Azureflame Raven King let out a mournful cry and crashed heavily to the ground.
