Chapter 45
Third POV
Elijah opened both of his eyelids with rapid movements. Elijah was breathing heavily now. Elijah's own facial expression also looked quite pale and surprised at the same time there.
"What have I done?"
Elijah muttered to himself, and realized that he was still on the bed. But what was different was that Elijah was alone, there was no Lucia beside him. In addition, Elijah's body was now naked, and only covered by the blanket.
"Shit! Lucia?"
Elijah called Lucia's name, while moving hurriedly to get up from the bed, and covering his lower body using the blanket. Elijah shuffled his feet through the room. Elijah tried to locate Lucia, who was nowhere to be seen in the room.
"Lucia? Lucia, where are you?"
Elijah called Lucia's name again, as he tried to find Lucia in the bathroom. But it was empty. Lucia wasn't in the bathroom either.
"Shit!"
Elijah hurriedly took off the blanket he was using to cover his lower body, and immediately put back on his clothes that had been scattered on the floor of the room there.
Elijah moved very quickly to put on his pants, and after the pants were on, he ran very quickly out of the room, without wearing any top clothes. Elijah no longer cared about the surprised and also amazed looks that were shown unconsciously by the omega and also the warrior who was in the inside of his Bloodlust Moon Pack now.
What was in Elijah's mind now was to be able to immediately find Lucia's whereabouts there. Elijah's face, which was full of panic, immediately ran to every corner to the room in the pack without exception. Elijah's breathing was also getting faster and faster.
"Damn, Lucia. Where are you? Did... did you leave me? Why did I lose control and do that, if in the end you still went and left me, Lucia..."
Elijah fell silent in the backyard of his pack with his eyes looking very empty now. And not long after that, Elijah's body slumped and fell down right on the green grass in the yard there. Elijah's body trembled and could not stand his own thoughts right now.
"Elijah, what's going on? Why are you looking so panicked like this?"
Emrys suddenly came from the direction of the inside of the pack, and walked over to Elijah with a little panic there. Likewise, Josiah who followed Emrys' steps began to sit right next to Elijah who was still silent now.
"Elijah, say something. What's wrong?"
Emrys asked again while looking for a moment at Josiah who also began to sit on the other side of Elijah there. They looked very confused now.
"Lucia left... she was in the room, and now she's not there. I've been looking for Lucia all over the pack, but, she's still not there. She left... she really go and left me."
Elijah muttered with his head bowed deeply now.
"Lucia didn't leave you at all, Elijah."
Josiah immediately answered Elijah's words, and made him raise his head quickly and look right at Josiah there. Elijah looked quite incredulous at what Josiah had just said. That immediately made Josiah sigh slowly.
"Lucia is not gone for good from this pack, Elijah. She just left for a while to take care of something important she said. She also said, if you wake up later, she has written a letter for you."
Josiah paused his words as Elijah immediately stood there.
"Letter? What letter? And where is it?"
Elijah asked impatiently. Elijah felt all the energy in his body returning rapidly now. That made Emrys and Josiah return to stand beside Elijah.
"Lucia said that she put the letter on the small table next to the bed. Lucia only said that. After that, Lucia left immediately and it seems like it was almost an hour ago. Try to find the letter first on the table that Lucia referred to."
Josiah answered again there, slowly. And after that, without waiting and giving another answer, Elijah immediately ran back into his pack, and went straight to his room again now. Elijah approached the small table that was near the messy bed there. And sure enough, Elijah saw a folded letter right under the table lamp. Slowly, Elijah picked up the letter, and sat down on his bed.
His hands trembled, as the negative thoughts began to return to Elijah's mind now. And Elijah himself could not prevent it from happening. When Elijah's eyes looked intensely at the letter. Until not long after that, Elijah sighed slowly, and calmed himself down. Then ventured to open and read the contents of the letter.
'Dear Elijah. I hope that you will wake up soon from your deep sleep. I also hope that you will find this letter once you wake up. Don't worry, I won't be gone for too long. Didn't I promise you that I wouldn't leave you alone? I'm trying to be able to keep the things I said to you before we did that thing earlier. I just want to try to calm myself down, from something I never thought I could do. And that's with you, Elijah. I don't know if you can understand what I'm talking about right now. It all feels very sudden to me, Elijah. Too sudden, and too fast. I know that I owe quite a lot to all the help that you have given me. I know how important your presence was in my life. Because without you, I might as well be gone. I probably wouldn't have been able to avenge myself on them. It's just that, when we both did that earlier, I don't know if you were conscious. You were delirious in your dream, and when you woke up... you knew what you said and did. I don't want to forget that. Of course you do. It's just that it makes me feel like it's the price I have to pay for all the good you've done for me, Elijah. I am your property, Elijah.”
"You are not my property, Lucia... you are my mate... the love of my life. Why have you never told me that you... have been mistaken about what I meant when you first decided to get revenge? Why did you think of yourself as my property? And why was it presumptuous of me to say that to you, when I could have just told you that you were actually my mate, Lucia."
Elijah mumbled with a very sad feeling there. Elijah stopped reading the letter for a moment and rubbed the letter slowly. Elijah's feelings were overwhelming. Elijah himself couldn't explain all these things very well. Elijah reached out with his right palm and rubbed his face roughly. He looked depressed now.
He still couldn't believe it after reading part of the letter Lucia had written to him just now. After that, Elijah again lowered his head slightly and continued reading the letter now. Although, he didn't know what other reactions he would feel after that.
'But that doesn't matter to me anymore. I know that you have full rights over me now. I thought that using my new identity as your sister would make me feel relaxed about everything. But last night, you made me realize that, in the end, I am still your property. I'm just someone who's been lucky to get so much help from you, Emrys, and Josiah over the past year or so. And perhaps, the word thank you will never be enough to describe how grateful I am to be able to meet the three of you in my new life. If you ask me if I'm happy now, then I would say that I'm happy. Very happy. Because now I'm not alone anymore. I have a new family. Three people who are great and also meritorious. I think I will continue to devote myself to you for the rest of my life in order to repay all of your kindness, Elijah. If you ask for that, then no problem. But... for now, can I ask for some leniency? I need time and distance. If it's okay, I'd like to sleep in a different room. A room that is near Emrys and Josiah's room. I need some distance from you for a while, to get used to myself, after what we've both done, Elijah. And I will definitely go back to the pack. Once I've calmed down, I'll definitely go home. I'm not going anywhere. So, don't worry about me for a while now. Okay? Love, Lucia.'
And that was the end of the letter Lucia wrote to Elijah just now. For a moment, Elijah was silent again after finishing reading the contents of the letter there. The look in Elijah's eyes that began to describe how very uncertain feelings were now. And Elijah could not avoid the feeling of emptiness in himself right now. Until not long after that, Elijah folded the letter, and placed it right in front of his chest, as if Elijah was hugging the letter written by Lucia tightly there.
"So hurry back, Lucia... I can't hold myself alone, without your presence by my side now. I beg you, hurry home. And... don't leave me here alone for too long, Lucia."
Elijah slowly lay down on the bed, and began to close his eyelids very tightly there. The panic and worry he had felt earlier had completely overwhelmed him, and his energy had been depleted. Elijah decided to rest again, and to calm himself down, and reassure himself that Lucia would be home soon.
