Chapter 77: The Luna’s Light
Donald staggers beside me, breath heaving, blood running down his temple. The Shadow Alpha prowls opposite us, eyes blazing with that sick, corrupted green.
“Clara…” Donald’s voice strains through the bond. “Don’t push yourself. Not again.”
“I’m not letting him destroy our pack,” I say, my voice shaking but firm.
The Shadow Alpha spits a snarl.
“You think your little spark can save them? The blood moon feeds me, not you.”
He lunges.
Donald jumps in front of me, taking the hit full force. I scream as they crash to the ground, rolling, tearing at each other with furious strength.
Wolves all around us are falling my wolves crying out in pain, struggling to breathe, shadows poisoning their veins. The battlefield is a blur of agony and desperate growls.
My heart twists violently.
I can feel them hurting. All of them. Every whimper. Every cry. Their pain hits me like it’s my own. My knees buckle for a moment under the weight of it.
“Luna please help…”
I don’t know who whispered it.
But it breaks something open inside me.
I step forward.
The Shadow Alpha catches Donald by the throat.
“WATCH HIM DIE!” he roars, raising a claw to strike.
“No!”
The shout rips out of me, raw and primal.
Power erupts from my chest uncontrolled, unfiltered spreading from my heart outward like a shockwave.
At first, it’s only a flicker.
Then a flare.
Then a blinding eruption.
Golden fire bursts from my palms, swirling upward, crackling like lightning, alive and furious. My entire body feels like it’s burning but it’s not pain.
It’s release.
Donald gasps through the bond:
“Clara… what are you doing?”
“I don’t know,” I whisper. “But I feel them.”
I can feel every heartbeat in the pack.
Every wound.
Every fear.
Their pain pulls at me, begging for relief.
My flame swells higher, brighter twisting with threads of white light I’ve never seen before. The power hums, rising to a frequency that vibrates in my bones.
The Shadow Alpha stares in horror.
“What, what is this?!”
I lift my hands, my voice steady even as tears burn my eyes.
“This is what a Luna is.”
I slam my palms together.
The world explodes.
A wave of golden-white light blasts outward from me, sweeping across the entire battlefield like a storm of radiance. It rushes over wolves friend and foe washing away the shadows clinging to their bodies.
I hear gasps.
Cries of disbelief.
Bones snap back into place.
Blood reverses.
Poison evaporates like smoke.
Wolves rise from the ground, shocked, alive.
Donald drops to the earth, coughing, one hand on his chest as the light pours over him. His wounds seal instantly. His strength surges back.
“Clara,” he breathes, staring at himself. “You healed… everyone.”
My legs tremble. I can barely stand, but I hold on, letting the power pour freely.
The Shadow Alpha screams as the light climbs his body.
“No! No STOP THIS!”
He tries to run. The wave slams into him—his shadows peeling off him like burning tar. He staggers, claws sinking into the dirt.
He looks smaller now.
Weaker.
Afraid.
“You cannot heal corruption!” he spits, voice cracking. “The moon cannot save you now!”
“I’m not using the moon,” I say quietly.
The ground glows beneath my feet, golden cracks pulsing outward like veins.
“I’m using love.”
The moment I speak the word, the light intensifies filling every inch of the battlefield, every wound, every heartache, every fear.
Wolves cry out in awe as the darkness dissolves in an instant.
The Shadow Alpha howls as his shadows melt away, leaving him trembling with fury.
When the light finally fades, I collapse to my knees.
My chest heaves. My skin feels too hot. My mind feels like it’s drifting, like the world is spinning around me.
But I’m conscious.
Barely.
Donald runs to me, shifting back mid-stride, falling beside me and catching me before I hit the ground.
“Clara.” His hands cradle my face. “Look at me. Stay with me.”
“I’m here,” I whisper, breathless.
He pulls me against his chest, his voice shaking with emotion. “You saved them. All of them. Clara… you saved the entire pack.”
I look around.
Wolves rise, alive, healed, staring at me with wide, reverent eyes. The battlefield that was moments ago soaked in blood now glows faintly with warm gold.
But one spot remains dark.
The Shadow Alpha stands alone, panting, stripped of his armor of corruption. His shadows are gone. His eyes flicker with something almost human
Fear.
“This isn’t over,” he snarls, though his voice trembles. “I will destroy you for this.”
Donald stands, positioning himself between us, his aura exploding with Alpha dominance.
“You won’t touch her,” he growls.
I push myself up, legs weak but steady.
“No,” I say. “He won’t touch anyone again.”
The Shadow Alpha takes a step back, uncertainty shaking through him.
For the first time since this war began…
the tide has shifted.
The Luna’s Light has awakened.
And the final reckoning is coming.
