Chapter 53

"Draco..."

I ran towards the balcony when I saw Layco jump. I immediately looked around but he wasn't there. the sky was getting dark and it was hard to see the dark part of the driveway.

I also waited about ten minutes for Layco to return. When I saw him come out of the woods and walk into the castle I ran down. while I was on the stairs of the second floor, Layco's baritone voice rang out from the living room.

"WHO THE FUCK LET THAT BASTARD GET INSIDE MY PROPERTY?!"

I stopped walking. I just saw Layco this angry again.

"We know Drako pretty well more than anyone, Alpha. He was your friend. You know he can break into even the most guarded places." said Grant.

"Damn that traitor! He might saw me with Savanah. He could use that against me." Layco said seriously. even though I can't see him, I know his expression is very dark now.

Miss Chleo came out of a room on the first floor and was about to go to the living room. "What's going on here?" he asked with a frown.

I gasped when Layco suddenly approached him and held his neck very tightly. His eyes glared at his brother.

"Did you let Draco get here, dear sister?" Layco's tone was tinged with anger.

Miss Chleo tried to remove her brother's hand. "What the fuck are you saying--"

"ANSWER THE QUESTION!" Layco's growl echoed in the whole place.

His expression darkened completely

Miss Chloe. The color of his eyes changed. He forcefully pushed Layco away.

"How dare you accuse me?! I stood by your side, even if it means I'd live the rest of my life alone and this is what I get in return?!" His tears continued to flow as he glared at Layco.

He wiped the tears from his cheeks and turned away. He turned in my direction then smiled softly.

"You're lucky you'll grow old with the person you love why I can't even fight for mine because I love you more, brother. Don't make me switch sides." said Miss Chleo before walking up to her room.

No one could say a word. Even Layco kept his eyes on the floor with clenched fists.

That day is one that I can't get out of my mind. I tried to ask Layco about the man but he chose not to let me know. I didn't even know what he looked like because I only saw his back on the balcony and the light and darkness were already competing at that time.

It was Saturday morning when Gia arrived at the castle. I just left the room and was about to go to the kitchen when I saw him in front of Layco's room and was about to enter when he saw me.

"Oh! Hi! Is Layco still asleep?" He asked with a smile.

I was not moved by his question. Layco is still sleeping...in my room.

I swallowed hard and tried to smile. "I-I don't know,

eh. If you want to wait for him downstairs, I'll just knock and tell him you're here."

He shook his head then took my hand. "It's better if he's asleep. I want to surprise him. I'll just sit next to him." he said smiling then again facing the door to touch the door knob.

My eyes widened at what I heard. I nervously grabbed his arm. He frowned at me.

"Ma'am Sir Layco instructed not to disturb him when he is sleeping." My lips are almost trembling because of the intense nervousness.

He laughed softly. "Don't worry, I'll be the one to disturb. I'm sure he wouldn't get mad. He can't get mad at me."

The intense nervousness in my chest finally crawled when he finally touched the door knob.

My eyes widened when the door opened and the still sleepy Layco peeked in. I frowned and looked at the door of the room where he was sleeping just now.

"What are you doing here, Gia?" Layco frowned when he asked.

Gia smiled very sweetly before stepping closer to Layco.

It was like pouring cold water on me when he leaned forward and planted a kiss on Layco's lips. Even he was surprised by what Gia did. he suddenly looked at me.

I swallowed when I felt the dagger stabbing in my chest because of what I witnessed. I thought I was used to it...not yet.

I felt the corner of my eyes sting. fall down

I look at the marble floor. I turned back before my tears completely fell.

"Savanah, wait..." Layco said but I continued walking. My fists clenched as my tears continued to fall.

"Oh, Miss? Could you please make us lunch? Please put it in the food basket. Layco and I will go for a picnic today."

I stopped walking. My fists clenched tighter. I let out a deep breath and nodded before stepping away again. I almost ran out of that hallway.

When I got to the kitchen, I completely let out my emotions. I covered my mouth while taking support from the edge of the sink.

I thought I could watch Gia do things that only I should do but it's different when it's face to face. it's like I was slapped a thousand times st made me look like what I got myself into.

Some footsteps echoed towards the kitchen. I turned around and faced the sink before Grant even got inside.

He went straight to the fridge and seemed to get some water. when he placed the jug and glass on the table silence enveloped him again.

He let out a deep breath. "I'm a lycan, Savanah. Hiding your face has no use. I can still here you."

I bit my lower lip because of what I heard and tried to control myself. he stepped closer to me. I wiped the tears from my cheeks when he handed me a glass of water. For a moment, I looked back and forth between his serious face and the glass

holding

I swallowed before accepting the drink. "T-thank you." I mumbled.

he just watched me drink. When I put the glass down in the sink, he walked back to the table and then leaned on it.

"Would you like to go out and unwind? You'll only be stressed if you stay in the same place with them. You've never been to the downtown, right?" he said.

I turned my gaze to him. I tried to smile then nodded. It's probably better to go out first. It just hurts me to watch them together.

In his car, Grant and I headed downtown. Brenther may be a modern city but the market area is still made simple. the products displayed in front of each stalls are entertaining.

I smiled when I saw the big prawns. I was choosing what to do while Grant just watched by my side.

Suddenly his phone rang. He was silent for a moment and suddenly frowned. When he hung up he sadly turned to me.

"Sorry, there's something at the west border that needs my attention. Do you know how to drive?" he said.

I nodded weakly. later he grabbed his car key then handed it to me. "Here. Use my car. If you want you can go around here. I'll see you later."

I tried to smile. "Thank you." I mumbled. He smiled before finally saying goodbye.

when Grant finally mingled with the crowd and was out of sight I resumed the

selection of shrimp.

I was about to finish when a man stood beside me. He wore a red polo shirt and picked up a prawn. "These big milk shrimp are delicious especially if they are spicy." he murmured.

I suddenly looked at him. A guy with sparkling brown chinky eyes, sharp cheeks, narrow nose and browish hair greeted me with a smile.

I tried to smile. "You're right." I replied shyly.

later I looked at him in surprise when he picked up from the ones I had chosen and seemed to examine it.

"You must be a chef or something." he said with a grin then looked at me. "You're good at choosing your ingredients."

he put the shrimp back in the plastic again then turned to me. "I have a restaurant somewhere here. It's good to see someone who has the same eyes as mine when it comes to stuff like this."

My eyes widened slightly. "You're a chef?"

He nodded while smiling. "If you want I can tell you where you can buy good quality ingredients so next time you know where to go."

I smiled. "Alright. Actually, it's my first time shopping here." I turned to the seller and paid for what I bought.

I don't know but I feel comfortable with this person. I don't think he's dangerous. Maybe it's because we have the same passion. He taught me where to buy beautiful and fresh vegetables and other items. We also discussed some dishes while shopping.

when I finished shopping he helped me get to Grant's car. He loaded the basket in the back then waited for me to get into the driver's seat.

He stepped back as the door closed. Before I finally revived the engine I remembered something. I turned to him while smiling.

"We've been together for a while but we still don't know each other." I laughed, so did he.

"I'm Savanah, by the way. What's your name?" I mumbled.

A meaningful grin crossed his lips as he stared at me.

"You can call me DL..." He stepped closer to the car. I was stunned when he pulled a few strands of my hair and pinned it to the side of my ear.

"I'll see you again, Miss Hemsworth..."

The smile on my lips suddenly disappeared when I heard what he said.

how did he know my last name?
