CHAPTER 78:LOSING THE BURDEN
Diane’s P. O. V.
I removed my hands from my face and placidly looked at him when I heard him continued his confession.
“I intended to switch off my phone whenever I was too busy resolving huge company issues,” he stated.
“But, why didn’t you tell me? I could have helped you,” I told him.
Kaya pala ganoon na lang ang nakita ko sa isang Assets and Liabilities Report three weeks ago. Liabilities were higher than known assets and that could make a company go bankrupt. Bakit hindi ko man lang naisip ‘yon?
“I didn’t want to drag you to my problems, Diane. Being the CEO, thousands of lives depend on me. You know that, right?” He looked at me and I was like a butter ready to melt again just by staring at his brown eyes.
I just nodded. I knew it and yet, I wasn’t able to completely understand him.
“But now, I still couldn’t figure out the reason behind the failure of one of our gadget branches in Boston as well as the jewelry branch in New Bedford. I didn’t want to go through a recession and for that, I need to go to the U. S. at the soonest time possible.”
His voice clearly manifested sadness. I just felt so guilty for not giving him the chance to tell me what truly happened. I didn’t lend him my ears to listen. I just accused him without having enough evidence and Liam doesn’t deserve it.
“But before anything else, I wanted to make sure that we’re already married so we could go there together. Alam kong matatagalan ako roon at ayokong iwan ka rito. I told you, I will explain everything but I guessed, I forgot that I have a very impatient girlfriend here.” That was when he smiled and showed his dimple. He winked at me after he playfully pinched my nose.
I just swallowed the lump on my throat after hearing all of these. I was so stupid to get mad at him for no justified reason. I wasn’t able to think things through and just let my emotions overruled my thoughts!
Shit! Nakaka-guilty talaga.
But wait, there’s more… I still have one last question.
I was ready to hug him and utter my apology when I remembered something. One last thing that I should never forget.
“Wait!” I screamed all of a sudden.
He was about to hug me when I stepped backwards and did a stop sign using my right hand. Huminga muna ako nang malalim bago ako muling nagsalita.
After that, I raised my eyebrow. “Sino ‘yong palagi mong kausap sa telepono mo? Usually, you’re giving me the authority to answer your phone. But these past few weeks na magkasama tayo, sinasagot mo agad ‘yong phone mo pagkatapos ay lumalayo ka na sa akin… as if you didn’t want me to hear any of your conversations!”
“And one time, I heard you, Liam… you called her Honey! Hindi ako pwedeng magkamali. I heard it right! Please, don’t you dare lie to me. Who was that Honey?” I was teary-eyed once more and it was too late for me to realize that my heart was filled again with jealousy.
I was mad at him, but why did I find his laugh damn so sexy?
He went near me and I wasn’t able to push him away when he suddenly placed his arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to his body. Then, he cuddled me so tight as if he didn’t want to let me go.
I was calling her Honey because her name was definitely Honey and she was none other than the same Neyrah na nasa loob—who was Ate Shey’s younger sister. Her real name was Honeyrah, who also happened to be my second cousin and one of the best wedding planners in Italy.” He leaned forward and kissed my forehead wholeheartedly.
So that Honey was in fact… Neyrah? Damn!
He did all these surprises and all of his efforts had completely gone into wastes because of me.
Nakaka-guilty talaga as in sobrang nakaka-guilty!
Oh, God! Thank you so much for this reward. I might have really done something good in my past life that You made me cross paths with this guy in recent times.
