Chapter 119: CHAPTER 119
The accusation laid out by Amon, left everyone gasping in disbelief.
They couldn't believe the great sorceress would ever try to harm their Luna. But seeing how silent Doveris was, many began to suspect she actually attacked Avara.
"Be quiet! Why would Doveris want to harm that human?!" Pesus snapped, refusing to accept this.
Just as the other elders were taking his side, they were immediately shunned by the Alphas, who took Amon's side, accusing Doveris of the crime.
"Since you think we're making up stories, why don't you ask Adira. She saw Doveris with our Luna. She witnessed the great sorceress fleeing, afraid she'll be caught," Hugo revealed in anger, stunning the elders and Pesus.
"Adira?" Pesus uttered with his mouth dropped, as he directed his eyes to Doveris, hoping this was a lie.
But just like Pesus, Doveris was shocked too.
"Adira? She... She..." She stared directly at the Alphas and Avara, seeing the seriousness all over their faces.
They weren't lying!
"That foolish child! She sold me out?! What else did she tell them?!" Doveris roared, cursing Adira's name in her mind.
"Maybe she saw wrong. There must be a mistake," Pesus said in doubt, refusing to believe this.
As if they knew the elders and Pesus would say this, Dean signaled Elvador to bring Adira over.
The head guard bowed, went into the palace, then came out with Adira, who acted so innocent.
She had her head lowered like a saint, as she walked before everyone, bowing to the Alphas and at Avara.
When Doveris saw her, the sorceress's heart bled with rage, as she secretly began to plan Adira's downfall.
"Seems you've forgotten the hand that fed you, girl. If you think you can bring me down, I'll make sure you go down with me," She vented within, as her lips began to move little by little, mouthing inaudible words.
Adira on the other hand, greeted the Alphas and Avara respectfully, as she turned to face Amon, who called her attention, answering his questions.
"You said you saw the sorceress with the Luna, right?"
"Yes, I did," She nodded, keeping a composed and calm expression.
Amon nodded with pleasure, glancing over at the baffled elders, before saying to Adira, "Can you please tell everyone what really happened yesterday?"
"Yes, Elder Amon," She nodded, turning to face everyone, including Doveris, who was looking at her with an emotionless look.
Adira boldly took in a deep breath and told everyone what she saw.
"Indeed, I saw the sorceress with the Luna right as the enemies were fleeing away," She said, getting everyone to murmur over this, as they stared at Doveris with disappointment.
Little did they know that the sorceress was secretly casting a spell on Adira, to make her regret ever betraying her.
But suddenly... "But she never harmed the Luna. Doveris is the reason why our enemies fled away!" Adira announced out of the blue, leaving everyone stunned!
"What?!" All three Alphas chorused in shocked, rising to their feet!
Avara was stunned and also got to her feet, swaying her head at Adira's words!
The one who was astonished the most was Doveris.
The sorceress, who was about to recite the last line of her spell, froze when Adira gave her the credit, turning the tables around!
When she looked straight into Adira's eyes, she caught the evil flash in her gaze, and knew right away that Adira was still on her side!
"You devilish brat. I almost destroyed you in front of everyone. I must say, I am proud. You learned well from me," The sorceress gave out a secret smile, feeling part of her fear reducing.
But she's far from feeling relieved because Aurora is back, and she's the only one who can bring her down to nothing.
"What nonsense are you saying?!" Jay roared, storming up to Adira and grabbing her by the arm.
Adira faked an ache in her arm and said out loud like a victim, "It's not nonsense, Alpha Jay. Doveris didn't hurt Luna Avara. She's the one who stopped the demon bats from taking over our pack. I was present, so I know what I saw!"
Her words infuriated all three Alphas, almost pushing them to skin her alive openly. But what she said next, turned the tables around on them.
"Alphas, I know how much you love your Luna, that's why you think she was attacked by the sorceress. Since she's the victim here, why doesn't she tell us what exactly happened!" Adira suggested, making the Alphas freeze.
Avara's body shook when Adira said this, because she knows well that she has no memory of what happened to her.
"What am I going to do? I don't remember a thing from yesterday," Avara panicked inside while trying to stay calm.
But unknown to Avara, Doveris, who was shaking at Adira's idea to question the Luna, immediately caught the trembling look on her face and realized something.
"What's this? Is... Is she afraid?" Doveris gazed in disbelief, wondering why Avara got worried at Adira's suggestion.
That's when a suspicious thought crossed her mind. But in order to confirm this... "Yes," Doveris spoke in a calm tone, playing the victim card with sadness in her eyes.
"Let the Luna tell everyone what really happened. That way we can all get a clear picture of what occurred," She said, supporting Adira's idea while acting innocent.
Her action made everyone feel they had misjudged her. But they can't tell if she's on the right until they hear from Avara.
Seeing everyone expecting a response from their Luna, "Why should she speak? Aren't you the one who witnessed everything that happened?" Hugo questioned Adira, as she got pushed aside by an angry Jay, keeping her away from Avara.
"When we arrived, we found her unconscious in your hold," Dean pointed out, making Adira clench her fist secretly out of jealousy, over their deep protection for Avara.
"Whatever Doveris did to her, she hasn't recovered fully from it. So don't disturb her," Jay added, as all three shielded Avara, refusing to let her say a word to reveal her memory loss.
But Adira wasn't going to let this slip right out from her palm.
Seeing the Alphas' actions, Adira turned it into a weapon and said out loud, "Alphas, could it be that the Luna never saw the sorceress attack her but lied to you?"
Adira faked out a gasp, causing the Alphas' eyes to widen at her devilish action!
Everyone also gave out a gasp, as they murmured over this, landing their questioning gazes on Avara!
This made poor Avara really uncomfortable and unhappy.
She could see through Adira's plan and it made her feel terrible for having no memory of what happened.
If she can't prove that Adira's story is false, everyone will think she lied!
"Come on, Goddess. Help me, please!" Avara begged within, drawing closer to Hugo for support.
While she was panicking and seeking the goddess's help, Doveris was studying her behavior, realizing that her suspicion was right!
"Aurora doesn't remember. She has no memory of our fight!" The sorceress's eyes lit up with joy, seeing this as her chance to make a quick comeback before it's too late.
"Forgive me, Aurora, but you won't be getting rid of me that easily," She smiled devilishly.
