Chapter 198: Are You Out of Your Mind

Walter's face turned icy, but when he glanced at Gabriella again, his voice softened a lot. "Forget it, you go ahead."

With that, he went back to his work.

Gabriella was curious about what he didn't say, but not enough to pry.

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, but don't let Alfred push you around."

With that thought, Gabriella calmed herself and returned to her desk.

Meanwhile, Jennifer stormed back in from outside, her face twisted with anger.

The butler noticed right away and signaled to the other servants.

When the young lady of the Lawson family was in a bad mood, it was best to steer clear to avoid trouble.

"This is ridiculous! What kind of spell does that woman have to make everyone defend her?"

Jennifer's frustration grew as she spoke, her hands unknowingly clenched into fists, her nails digging into her skin without her even noticing.

"Miss Lawson, are you alright?" The butler cautiously approached. "You look like you've been wronged outside. Should I inform Mr. Lawson?"

After all, she was the heiress of the Lawson family. If something happened, the Lawson family wouldn't just ignore it.

But Jennifer shot him a glare, her tone full of complaints. "How could you tell him? Afraid my embarrassing situation won't spread far enough?"

Jennifer grumbled, then suddenly remembered something and quickly took out her phone to call Ophelia.

Ophelia was more scheming than Jennifer, and consulting her was the right move.

The call went through, but the other side didn't pick up immediately. Jennifer waited anxiously, tapping her fingers on the table.

Finally, Ophelia's lazy voice came through. "Miss Lawson, what can I do for you at this hour?"

Jennifer was frantic. "I met that woman. It's actually Gabriella. I can't believe she faked her death."

She had worked hard to get this information from Samuel.

When she heard Gabriella had taken such a drastic step while pregnant, Jennifer had been happy, thinking she finally had no one to oppose her.

But now, two years later, Gabriella was not only alive but was making a high-profile appearance, trying to reclaim everything Jennifer had gained.

How could Jennifer tolerate this?

Thinking about Alfred standing up for Gabriella made Jennifer's feelings even more complicated.

"Help me figure out how to make Gabriella disappear from my world completely." Jennifer was getting more agitated.

However, Ophelia's voice remained lazy. "Miss Lawson, are you brainless? You called me for this? I don't recall us being particularly close."

Ophelia had shared information with Jennifer just to avoid any issues with her own marriage.

Now that Justin was officially engaged to her, and the wedding was just days away, why would Ophelia want to create trouble for herself?

"Miss Lawson, I suggest you figure it out yourself. This doesn't benefit me, and I'm not helping you for free. If you need paid assistance..." Ophelia's red lips curved into a faint smile. "After the wedding, I'll definitely help you sort it out."

With that, she hung up.

Jennifer felt a surge of anger, her fists clenched tightly. "Damn it, she's just using me!"

Ophelia told her Gabriella was alive but didn't tell her how to make her disappear completely.

Ophelia was using the Lawson family to distract Gabriella.

But despite her anger, Jennifer had no other options. The Fuller family and the Barnett family had many cooperation opportunities over the past two years.

The Fuller family's status was now much higher than the Lawson family's. Even her father had to be polite to them, let alone her.

Instead of sulking over Ophelia, it was better to think about how to deal with Gabriella.

As Jennifer was plotting, the sound of a car came from outside. Soon, several people from the Barnett family got out.

Leading them was none other than Samuel's secretary, Freya.

"Sorry to bother you, Miss Lawson." Freya spoke calmly, her hair neatly tied in a low ponytail, making her look older than she was, but her face was delicate, and her mature yet warm aura was unmistakable.

"I'm here on behalf of Mr. Barnett to deliver something. This is the cooperation report for the first half of the year between our families. You can review it, and if there are any issues, I can resolve them today." her voice was calm, always exuding a mature and composed demeanor.

But Jennifer's mind was elsewhere today, her expression darkening. "Well, I was just thinking about finding you."

Samuel had sold the information to Jennifer, and now that there was a problem, Jennifer had to confront Samuel.

She snorted. "What is it with your Barnett family's information? You can't even get the details of someone's death right?"

Freya frowned slightly. "Miss Lawson, I don't understand what you mean."

Jennifer's eyes were full of contempt. "Didn't you say Gabriella had jumped into the river and died?"

Freya knew about this but hadn't told Alfred.

Although Alfred claimed he would never fall for anyone again, Freya, having grown up with him, could see his true feelings.

Especially the expression on Alfred's face when he talked about Gabriella.

It was truly heartbreaking.

Alfred had genuinely fallen for her.

Some things, if kept hidden, wouldn't matter much.

Plus, Alfred had become increasingly busy with work, and Freya hadn't had the chance to tell him.

So she hadn't mentioned it to Alfred in the past two years.

Freya looked at the agitated Jennifer. "Is there a problem?"

Jennifer laughed as if she had heard a ridiculous joke. "Gabriella isn't dead. She's alive and well. Do you think there's a problem?"
