Chapter 30: The sound of screams

The more the elders searched for Sarah's whereabouts, the more frustrated they became at not finding her. With tense faces, they went straight to Lucian, expressions pleading for a sharp answer.

"Lucian, where are you hiding her?" asked Arnold, voice trembling with anxiety.

"Hiding what? I'm not hiding anyone," Lucian replied in a firm tone, but his eyes were troubled.

"Are you sure, Lucian? So, what Anne told me was a lie? Including the time you sent her away from your residence? You followed her?" Arnold asked, his sharp gaze piercing into the truth.

"I didn't do that at all," Lucian replied, but a small tremor sounded in his voice.

Anne arrived at the right moment, breaking the tension with her elegant presence. In a soft voice, she asked, "So, I can stay here, right. Lucian?"

Reluctantly, Lucian nodded, "Of course you can stay here, my Luna. You are my partner."

Anne smiled with relief, but there was something invisible behind her smile. She told the maid to bring the suitcase into Lucian's room, while her eyes watched every movement.

"Bring my suitcase to the Alpha king's room!" she ordered firmly, but there was a touch of concern in her eyes.

"Very well, ma'am," the servant replied respectfully, though his eyes implied hesitation.

After the elders left, an uneasy feeling continued to plague Lucian. He was afraid that Sarah would run away again, and that made him uneasy. He could only monitor Sarah through the CCTV he had installed in a villa far away from here, but even that wasn't enough to relieve his anxiety.

"Why did Mr. Lucian put me here?" asked Sarah, her face filled with confusion.

The bodyguard was silent, but his body language hinted that there was something bigger behind all this. Sarah was getting more and more curious.

In a quiet room, Anne looked at Lucian with loving eyes as she said, "I don't know when exactly you'll get her out of this house. But, I don't care. I will always be by your side to keep you company."

Warmly, Anne embraced Lucian, but she soon let go of the touch, leaving a mysterious smile on her face.

However, in her heart, she felt a burning fire of anger.

"She's completely ignoring me? I've already called the elders, should I really finish that girl off," she thought to herself.

Staring intently at Lucian, Anne answered his question, "I'm sure Lucian. We are a destined couple. It was written long ago, before we were even born."

Lucian raised his eyebrows, looking at Anne questioningly. "If you were my destiny, why did you ever oppose it? Didn't we agree not to have any relationship anymore? Why did you come back to me?"

Anne took a deep breath, looking at Lucian's face with despair. "My life has been so difficult, Lucian. I've even survived an accident that almost took my life. I'm sure it's all because we once challenged fate," she said in a soulful voice.

With a firm voice, Anne looked at Lucian seriously. "Lucian, we must have children. You must continue your lineage," she said with conviction.

However, Lucian refused firmly, a hard look on his face. "No, no. I don't want to have children with you," he replied firmly.

Anne looked at him with a disappointed expression, but then her gaze changed to one of determination. "Why? Would you rather have a child with that girl? You know that you cannot be together, Lucian. She is not part of your destiny," she said in a soulful voice.

"I want to be alone. I need time to myself!" Lucian said in a sharp tone, his eyes reflecting a strong desire to get away.

He left Anne alone. However, Anne was not willing to let him go so easily. With soft steps, she approached Lucian from behind and hugged him tightly.

"Anne, let me go!" Lucian pleaded in a voice full of desperation, trying to break free from the embrace that held him tightly.

"I won't. I won't let go of my destiny anymore. I can't lose you again, Lucian," Anne said in a trembling voice, her gaze filled with despair and a strong desire to stay together.

Someone knocked gently on Sarah's bedroom door. Sarah opened it immediately, her face full of confusion when she saw Diana, the family maid, carrying a tray of food.

With a friendly smile, Diana handed the tray to her. "Madam, this is food for you," she said in a soft voice.

Sarah accepted the tray with a sharp look. "Diana, what is going on here? Why did Master Lucian put me here?" she asked, trying to mask her confusion.

Diana lowered her gaze. "I'm sorry, we can't tell you, ma'am," she replied briefly, but an uneasy tone could be heard in her voice.

With a worried expression, Sarah nodded. "Very well," she muttered, before closing the door again.

Inside her room, Sarah sat on the edge of the bed, thinking hard. "What exactly is he keeping from me?" she hissed softly.

"It's been more than three days since we've been here. I want to go home, Leo," Hazel said, her eyes radiating deep exhaustion.

Leo looked at her empathetically. "I'll take you there Hazel," he said, his voice full of determination.

They walked towards Hazel's house with heavy steps. When they got there, Hazel sat on the sofa with a face filled with anxiety, while Leo stood nearby with a determined demeanor.

"Do you know her boyfriend's account?" Leo asked, his eyes shining with hope.

"I really do, Leo. We can get some clues from there," Hazel said with a faint smile, her face filled with determination.

Hazel picked up her cell phone and sent a message to Emma - Daniel's girlfriend. She asked Emma if Daniel could come to a place. And, it was there that they would ask some questions about Sarah.

"So, what happened?" asked Emma, her face full of unbearable curiosity.

"I'll explain after we meet," said Hazel with a voice that remained calm but her eyes radiated deep worry.

They got ready and left in Leo's car. Leo sat in the driver's seat with full concentration, his hands firmly holding the steering wheel. However, from the opposite direction, a white truck suddenly appeared with brake problems. Hazel, who was sitting in the passenger seat, immediately felt panic fill her. She screamed loudly, her body reflexively grabbing the surrounding handles to try and hold herself up.
