Chapter 26: His Mistake
Killian’s P.O.V.
“Levi also felt the same thing, Killian. She told me that there was no scent on her all the time but when she confronted Xavier, she released a very unique scent that she couldn’t figure out how to describe which made her submit to Pearl.” Lucifer told me in a serious tone.
“The first thing, Lucifer, what Xavier was doing there?” I asked him in a serious tone, trying to suppress my anger. He took a deep breath while looking at me with a serious gaze.
“They weren’t completely in the north wing. They were in the backyard garden in the middle of the northwest.” He told me and I furrowed my brows.
“What was my strict instructions, Lucifer?” I asked him in a cold tone this time.
“It was Pearl who insisted to take a stroll that side. She is the future queen. Levi doesn’t hold the authority to stop her.” He answered me honestly, but I banged my hand at the top of the table while standing up in a fit of rage.
“Yes, she is the future queen, and she can go anywhere in the palace. But the key point here is that she is the future queen, Lucifer. She is still not the queen. She doesn’t hold the authority in her that this title bring with it. Without her wolf, do you think that she is a match of Xavier if he thinks to hurt her?”
My whole body trembled when I roared at him. He trembled hard by the intensity of my voice while blinking hard in bewilderment.
“Levi is responsible for her safety, but she is also responsible for notify immediately if someone stronger than her approaches them. When did she inform you? After they left the garden, right?” I continued in the same angry tone, roaring at the top of my lungs.
He blinked confirming what I asked him. “Pearl can’t mind-link us, but Levi can. Then why didn’t she mind-link you as soon as Xavier approached them? Why did she wait until now?” I banged my hand at the top of the table one more time, and the table collapsed with a loud crash.
Lucifer now understood the severity of the situation and also how careless Levi was around Xavier as the realization hit him and his eyes widened in shock.
“I didn’t think about this scenario, my king. Pardon me for being reckless. I will take care of this matter.” Lucifer replied to him in a submissive tone, showing his neck to me.
We were best friends but I was his king at the same time and he couldn’t go against my authority whenever I asserted it on him just like I was doing right now.
He lowered his head, showing his neck in submission without any hesitation.
“This is the first and the last time that I am tolerating this carelessness in my queen’s safety, Lucifer. Send Levi back to patrol duty and assign someone who use his or her brain when the time requires the use of it.” I instructed him in a cold and angry tone.
"And find out what Xavier is up to these days. This wasn't the first time that he tried to approach Pearl, but I want this time be the last time." I instructed him what to do with Xavier in the same angry and cold tone, thrusting my hands into my pant pockets, digging my nails deep inside my palms to keep my anger in control.
I stormed towards the exit as soon as I finished my sentence. I left her in my chamber only three hours ago and they put her life in danger. Pearl was a good fighter. I know, but without her wolf, she was a mere human right now, and a human is not a match in front of a lycan in any way.
Lucifer followed behind me, but this time, he didn't say a word.
I was shocked and infuriated more at the fact that Lucifer missed the important fact about her safety. Instead, he pressed the matter about the absence of her scent.
He left me somewhere in the middle of our way to my wing. I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down, but didn't look in his direction.
He was my biggest confidant but I couldn’t tell him everything. Pearl’s wolf wasn’t an ordinary wolf that I understood after she told me that her wolf could conceal her scent at any time, and could change it according to the situation.
That could be one of the reasons why they never found out about her ranking. I reached the north wing and stopped at the entrance. “My king.” Both the guards standing there immediately bowed in respect while greeting me.
“Where is the queen?” I asked them in a cold tone. I noticed their bodies trembling slightly. “Sh… she is in the gym, my king.” He replied to me and I almost flew on the fleet of stairs. Gym was on the third floor of this wing.
Why didn’t she ask me before going there?”
“Because it was you who allowed her roam freely in this wing. She can go anywhere on her will. She doesn’t need to ask you or to notify you.” Velan sneered and I groaned.
I stopped at the door the gym when I heard voices of continuous yelling and grunting. What was she doing inside?
I immediately opened the door and my brows furrowed in surprise. I stopped at the door while gawking at the petite figure flying between the equipment, kicking and punching the punching bags, and her every kick and punch was filled with a brutal force.
She had worn black sports bra with black yoga pants and I could see sweat covering her face completely.
This was the first time that I saw her in this attire. All her curves were now on display, making me unable to look away.
With every twist, with every bent, and with every movement of her legs, her curves twisted, giving her an alluring look, sending jolts of electricity all over my body.
There was no way that I would let her go in front of anyone else than me in this attire.
And with that ruthless look on her face, she looked……………
“Beautiful.” Velan purred and I just bobbed my head in agreement in a daze. It was clear that she was angry and was venting her anger on those dummies and punching bags.
She was muttering something incoherent, and I was surprised that I couldn’t even get a single word of what she was muttering. I slowly walked inside the gym, and she stopped.
“Levi did a mistake. You will get a new bodyguard by tomorrow morning. Until that, you will stay with me.” I informed her in a calm and gentle tone.
“You don’t need to replace Levi. She did nothing wrong.” She replied, defending Levi in a calm tone, going towards the bench where the water bottles were.
“She had to inform me immediately as soon as Xavier approached you, but she didn’t when she knows how dangerous Xavier can be.” I explained why Levi needed to leave.
“She defended me first, Killian. I agree what you said but she didn’t leave defenseless in front of Xavier.” She argued but there was no way that I would let someone stay with her who forgot the first thing that he or she needed to do in case of emergency.
“There is no argument on this, my love. She was strictly instructed by me to mind-link me the first thing if you encounter any danger or Xavier approaches you. I want someone trustworthy with you, and she lost my trust.” I replied to her in a firm tone, not leaving any room for argument.
She sipped some water and looked at me with a calm and cold gaze. This girl always had something to surprise me whenever I met her.
This was the same look that she had when I saw her for the first time standing in that hall.
“Well…. They are your people. You know them better than me. So, I won’t fight on this. Do as you wish, but she will not go outside the palace. I still want her around me.” She put her condition in a calm tone.
“Deal.” I agreed without any hesitation. I was now sitting beside her. She put the bottle down on the other side.
“Did he say something that he shouldn’t?” I asked her in a low and cautious tone. She shook her head lightly, but her gaze was still in the same direction, in front of her.
“No, the confrontation was brief, but I hate that man from the bottom of my heart from some unknown reason. The hatred for him is bigger than the hatred that I have in my heart for Jonah and Emily.” She answered me truthfully, her tone still cold.
I raised my brows in surprise this time. I moved my hand to her other side and pulled her towards me. She complied and put her head on my shoulder. I gently rubbed her to calm her down. She was still angry and something was still bothering her too much.
“Something else happened when you confronted him.” I told her in a low tone after some time. “What?” she asked me in a calm and tired tone this time. I was already evening and soon it would be lunch time. After this intense exercise, I was sure that she would be super hungry.
“Levi told Lucifer something about a unique scent coming from you when you confronted him.” I told her in the same calm tone while rubbing her arm gently.
