Chapter 53: Controlling The Dark Magic
**The Demon’s Love**
*Chapter 53: Controlling The Dark Magic *
Amari’s
Just like Zaren said, there were strange neighs of the horses progressing towards us and even with the distance, I could plausibly determine that the Dark Magic was wriggling and staining the fresh air we were just smelling off. With the help of Dark Magic, the Dark Mages stopped in front of us while Rymond halted the knights’ desire to help using a barrier. No one can break or lift off the spell except him, who is the Dragon.
Rymond sat on Zaren’s shoulder like a cute child, then I heard laughter coming from the leader of the Dark Mages. It sounded creepily low and terrifyingly awakening my desire to kill someone. The kind of laugh that was crafty, heinous, and evil. It was somehow a mocking laugh, proclaiming a victory before they had ever seen the end of this fight. Who could be the one paying these Dark Mages to fight us? That someone should be powerful enough.
I don’t mind whoever gave the person right to meddle in our business but the fact that they wanted us dead meant they knew that Zaren was given the edict to eradicate ‘Darkness’. Doing so would naturally erase ‘Demon in the Northern Area’, since it was the copy of ‘Darkness’, a lower type of the original.
“AHAH! The respected Duke of this Empire and his Duchess. The scene was indeed the sight, don’t you agree with me, Bal?”
I quirked up my brow, “Bal? Why do I find that familiar, somehow?” I quietly questioned underneath my breath.
“That’s right! Bal is someone you think of as a friend, isn’t he? Wouldn’t you agree that your friendship with him was shallow when he led us where you were?”
Bal is someone I pitied when I was still in Uncle’s mansion. We played and bantered like good friends, but other than that, I never really had any close relations with anyone. Bal was a good man, a gentleman who took care of me once I accidentally stabbed myself while practicing. To think that he was the one who lurked the Dark Mages to kill me off only have one meaning – he never once saw me as a friend, if not, I don’t think there was any other likely possible.
No one can’t be moved by the immense wealth it comes after betraying someone. Thus, I am certain Bal needed money to accept this kind of offer..
I heard Zaren snickered, “Now that I am facing you all hear, it seemed that the ‘invincible’ rumors about you were just like a broken wing; without the other one, you wouldn’t be able to fly. This absurdity was worth the laugh.”
The one who just laughed at me broke down in his ugly expression, marching towards us and lifting his sword high in the air.
“Kill everyone!!”
It was basically command that will put them to death. Where’s Bal?
I smirked, seeing where he was hiding then summoned my Light Power that crept around his ankles then raised him in the air. He loudly yelped, asking for help but I only laughed at him as he then wriggled from the tight clasp. He unsheathed his sword, summoning his Ice Power. Does he not know I have the Fire power right now?
He glared at me, warning, “… Your Uncle wants you dead. Why do you still want to cling to a man like the Duke?”
“You’re facing death, but you still know how to spew nonsense.”
I then swung my sword with my Fire surrounds it, hitting him in his shin but he had already dodged it with his fast reflexes. He jumped above the carriage they carried with them which supposedly the prison they’d put us in the moment they take us as captives?
I didn’t know Uncle was this shallow in calculating. I touched my head in headache, then I heard Rymond warned coldly.
“Crouch down, Yula!!”
I instantly obeyed his words then I saw he summoned his power and directed it to Bal’s arm. I turned to Bal, aiming my sword at him. He betrayed me but it isn’t a lie when I said that I had fun with him.
“I only have one question.”
Wincing and suffering from the blood loss and pain, he grunted, leaning on the big stone behind his back. He coughed up blood and weakly looked at me, “W-What?”
“If you were a bird, wouldn’t you want both of your wings to fly across the sky?”
He bewilderedly looked at me, reasoning while coughing in gaps. “W-well…. As a mere human, be-being a bird is a dream. I-if you’re asking me t-that before dying, I shall say b-being bird isn’t bad. A-at least I am not someone’s puppet anymore…”
I smirked, crouching down to his level. “You’re practicing Dark Magic.”
He wistfully looked at me, “Kill me, only then this magic will vanish.”
“If you answer my question—”
“Look behind y—”
Before he finished his words, I turned around and stabbed the Dark Magician right to his heart then burnt him to pieces using my Fire power.
I smiled at him, “No one can hurt me now, Bal. So, if you want, take my hand, and fly across the sky. If not, I shall grant your wish and bury you here.”
He released a relieved sigh, taking my hand. “I d-did this… to see whatever you’re doing.”
I looked at Rymond, who was floating in the air, controlling, and suppressing the release of the Dark Magic with spells, Zaren was fighting with them using his sword while I talked with Bal. I don’t want to waste much time only to leave them the ones defeating them, so I sealed Bal in my protective barrier. He wouldn’t be able to do anything but wait and watch as I have already paralyzed his body alongside the barrier. He was basically a puppet now. Though I am guilty, I can’t possibly make him stand up when he can stab me in the back again.
The knights with us were fascinated, their faces were near the barrier and watching us with respect.
I let the fire merge within my body then I closed my eyes while positioning where I should exact the Light and Fire power of mine. After calculations, I smirked then swung in the air, instantly hearing a grunt and yelp. I burnt the man as my Light Power travelled wide enough to strangle those who were controlling the Dark magic.
When I opened my eyes, I felt my eyes burn with my fiery power while I approached the man who snickered at me just earlier. Instead of getting scared, he wiped the blood he gained after I swung my sword at him then he tugged his lips upwards.
“Isn’t it time to spoil the fun?”
I winked at him then threw another fireball right into his face but his strong Dark Magic surrounded and counterattacked me. I swooped myself to the other side, controlling the fire and diminishing the Dark Magic. Indeed, I am not wrong.
I frowned, looking at the Dark Magic around the Fireball I created and sighed. I lifted my hand and moved my hand, the Dark Magic swirled just like I noticed. I gave the man a mocking look then I clenched my fist which then crushed him on the ground and only a scream was heard as everything turned eerily silent.
I can.. control Dark Magic.
