Chapter 22: She's Interested in You!
The wedding banquet proceeded as usual. After Emma finished toasting and interacting with guests, she was free.
She changed her clothes and seized the opportunity to slip away to the restroom, actually sneaking off to the backyard of the Anderson family's estate, intending to relax for a while.
Having spent a long time in the mountains, she didn't like crowded places.
The Anderson family's backyard was vast, and she walked for a while until she got lost, as expected.
Suddenly, a roar resounded, and Emma approached to see a large white tiger lying in a cage, continuously roaring. It was much larger than her, but its eyes were filled with a sense of desolation.
As Emma approached, it immediately stood up, towering about six foot five tall, and looked at her warily, continuing to roar, but with a more intimidating tone.
Emma frowned slightly, not because she was scared, but simply because she found the tiger pitiful.
Having lived in the mountains for a long time, she had seen many wild animals, and tigers naturally belonged in the mountains, not in cages like this.
"I'll find a way to set you free," Emma said.
"This white tiger isn't so easy to release." Suddenly, a lazy voice sounded nearby.
James walked over with his hands in his pockets, despite his casual demeanor, the sight of him in his custom-made wedding suit and his handsome face gave off an elegant vibe.
Emma's lips twitched, unable to resist asking, "Why?"
"It's kept here by Ross. No one else is allowed to feed it, only him."
Emma was curious, "Does that include you?"
James looked at her with confusion. "Why would I feed it?"
This left Emma speechless.
She thought, ‘Of course, why would this playboy bother to tire himself out?’
Unfortunately, the thoughts of James were ultimately unsavory.
"Never mind," Emma's gaze returned to the white tiger, "I'll make Ross agree."
The white tiger lay leisurely in its cage, seemingly understanding, and let out a roar towards them.
James said, "If you kiss me, I'll let it out."
"No need," Emma refused without hesitation.
She was not the kind of person who would trade her dignity for such a thing, even though things would be very easy to deal with this way.
At night, they didn't stay in the Anderson family's mansion but went to James's villa, each staying in their own room.
This also relieved Emma, but when she saw the room filled with pink hues, even the floor was pink, her lips twitched.
James said, "Don't like it?"
Emma said, "It's okay. Do you like pink?"
James looked a bit innocent. "The internet says many girls like pink, especially cute ones."
Emma took out a small mirror and saw her face, beautifully made up but completely incompatible with cuteness, which left her speechless.
"If you don't like it, then tomorrow I'll accompany you to see what style of decoration you like?" James's voice lowered, with a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
Emma said, "No need, this is fine."
This house belonged to James, and she would only be living here for a year. The decoration didn't matter.
As Emma entered the room, James's gaze outside the door became heavy, and he angrily made a phone call. "Colin, what's wrong with you? Didn't you say that girls like pink? My wife doesn't like it!"
Colin Jordan on the other end sounded aggrieved. "Sir, I also searched online, and the results were the same as what you found!"
James felt speechless.
"Sir, you should tell your wife that you haven't slept for days, and you've been busy arranging the wedding and her room. She'll definitely be touched, and it could be considered as making amends," the assistant, Colin, suggested.
"I don’t have to be that exaggerate about such trivial matters, and it's not like everything has to be done perfectly," James replied, feeling more angry with himself.
"Sir, keep it up! You'll definitely move your wife!" the assistant encouraged.
Emma slept very well that night.
Although the entire room was pink, it exuded warmth and romance, blending a cute and elegant style. The bed was softer than the one in the five-star presidential suite, a vast improvement from the hard beds she used to sleep on. She felt like she owed James a year's worth of rent.
Since giving money would seem too formal, the next day after registering her own company, Emma decided to visit the jade market but unexpectedly ran into an acquaintance.
"Emma, what are you doing here?" Zoe's expression was grim. "Are you here for Ross? You're so scheming. How did you know he would be here today at the jade market?"
Emma had investigated the Anderson family but only focused on James in detail. She only knew the general information about others, but not their preferences.
She never intended to become a part of the Anderson family, so she didn't need to know too much.
She shrugged. "I'm just here to find some good materials. It has nothing to do with Ross."
Zoe scrutinized her, showing a cold smile. "Well, with your ugly appearance, Ross would never look at you anyway."
Emma chuckled. "Right, you have a good figure, so you have to show it off wherever you go."
Every word she said was a reflection of yesterday's events.
Zoe became even more annoyed and was about to say something when the crowd suddenly became restless.
Someone said, "Mr. Ross is here! He'll definitely present a great show for us today!"
Another person said, "I have been practicing for ten years, and still unable to match Mr. Ross."
Zoe's eyes were filled with admiration and hope, as well as a sense of inevitability.
She tightly grasped a piece of jade she held, knowing it would definitely yield a valuable imperial green after it was opened.
She thought, ‘When Ross comes, he will surely look at me differently.’
Emma carefully picked out a stone she was satisfied with and was about to leave when she noticed the stone Zoe was holding onto. After looking at it for a few seconds, she couldn't help but comment. "Your stone doesn't seem very good. You should consider changing it, or you'll definitely end up losing."
Zoe rolled her eyes. "What do you know? This stone definitely has high-quality jade! Yours, on the other hand, is worthless, just like an ordinary rock."
Emma shook her head, too lazy to argue with her, and left with her own stone.
"Emma." A magnetic voice filled with pressure sounded from behind her.
Emma furrowed her brows, pretending not to have heard, but Ross followed closely.
"Why are you here?" Ross's expression was dark as he glanced around.
"Where's James? You two just got married, shouldn't you be together?" he asked coldly.
Emma was speechless.
"We're just married, not merged into one person. How could we always be together?" she retorted.
"He's your husband. You should take care of him. That's all I'm asking," Ross said coldly.
Emma sneered. "You're his family, why don't you take care of him yourself?"
Ross was stunned for a moment as if just realizing something. "Right, I can do that. Tonight, I'll go stay at James's place. I want to see if you can take care of him properly."
Emma burst into laughter. This arrangement was fine with her. She was curious about the relationship between these two.
Although James was not interested in James, however, as the head of the family, Ross was very concerned about James. Emma felt that this was not just because they were related. She wondered if her guess was true.
Ross's attitude improved slightly after Emma's proposal, and he glanced at the stone she was holding, asking, "You're here for gambling on stones, do you understand these?"
Before Emma could answer, Zoe rushed over and interjected. "Mr. Ross, she doesn't understand anything. She just came here after hearing you were here, trying to run into you on purpose. And you mustn't stay at Mr. James's villa. This woman definitely has set a trap. She's interested in you!"
