Chapter 92

My heart squeezes tight in pain; my hands fling forward, holding his arm as he plunges the knife deeper, a deadly gaze in his eyes.

This couldn't be my Bion. I know we had a fight, but this can't be my Bion.

My eyes flicker droopily as my eyes burn with tears, almost succumbing to the darkness that calls it until a loud bang resounds.

“MEL!!!!” The door is pushed down, and a guy so familiar runs in.

Grabbing the intruder, he flung him to the other side of the room. I tried to see the face of my saviour, but my eyes couldn't stay open any longer, so on their accord, they fluttered shut.

My body surrendering into the darkness.

“She is awake!!!” Someone screams, feet scramble about, echoing around me.

My eyelids feel extremely heavy as I try to keep them open.

The buzzing sound and dull ache in my head won't let me see past the black dots surrounding my head.

What the hell happened?

“How did I get here?” I ask no one in particular.

Someone moves into my line of sight, but the face is blurry. “You are in your room, but you were stabbed.” The familiar voice of Kim echoes into my system.

Stabbed?

My brain flashes back as I remember Bion stabbing me.

Blood.

Pain.

Screams.

Fighting.

Then it all went blank.

Lord knows I will squeeze life out of every being until I find him, and I will enjoy watching life drain out of him for ever thinking of betraying me.

“Mel, be careful,” a groggy voice says, hands holding me as I try sitting up.

My vision clears as I can finally see the people around me.

The twins are to my left, perching on the bedside table. A groan leaves my throat as I scan the room.

“Hey, baby.” A familiar voice rings out as the door slides open.

My head snaps so fast it's a wonder it doesn't fall off.

“You!!!” I grit out, clenching the sheets in my fist as fire burns through my chest.

“Why did you do that?” I growl, wanting him to give me a tangible excuse or something to make this pain float away.

“It wasn't me,” he says, stepping closer.

I narrow my eyes at him, wanting to believe him but too stuck up on Hugo’s words to actually do that.

“If it wasn't you, how the hell did the face I saw look so much like yours?” I snap, my fingers digging deeper into my palm.

I feel the flesh split open for the nails to dig deeper. Thick, liquid runs down my palm into the sheets, but I am too lost to care.

“We need to talk; there is something important I need to tell you,” he states, looking at me with sincerity.

Could I really trust him?

UNKNOWN

My feet make an ominous sound as I move further down the hallway.

Everywhere is almost dark; seeing me would be really hard, yet I cover myself with a dark cloak.

My face hiding beneath the material. I can't have anyone seeing me; it's too risky. For now, they can't know about me.

Taking a swift turn, I head down the stairs that lead to the underground meeting point.

“Welcome, come on in.” His voice resonates as soon as I walk into the room.

He hasn't even seen me, yet he already knows I am in the room.

Melanie may be stronger, but he is so much stronger and smarter too.

That's why I choose to work for him and not her. He thinks of the future; she thinks of the present.

In the long run the kingdom will collapse if she rules, but not on my watch.

“She is asleep; we need to act now that she is weak.” I suggest, impatient to just get rid of her.

“Calm down; I already have it planned. Someone has gone to retrieve her. The ritual will be performed tonight.” he says, a goblet cup filled with the blood of the child he killed yesterday.

He takes a sip before gesturing to the one in front of him, “Have some; you will need a whole lot of energy for what is to come.”

I move forward, grabbing the goblet to take a drink. I chug down more, loving the feeling of blood in my lungs.

I can feel it working, the speed it gives me, heightened senses, and strength.

“This child was a jaguar?” I ask, taking a seat before crossing my legs.

“They are the best.” He shrugs, watching the fires he created in his fingers.

“But Melanie's own is the ultimate.” I murmur, rubbing my shoulders on the back of my chair.

She has always seen her power as making her a monster; she doesn't see the greatness, the authority that comes with it.

We kidnap little shapeshifters that have no much significance in the society and kill them, then drink their blood.

Whatever power they possess before dying automatically comes to you.

That's why Melanie is our jackpot. She is stronger than the entire supernatural; killing her and drinking her blood will be all we need to conquer the world.

“Come over here, little one,” his gruff voice instructs. I move up, heading towards him at the same time the door slides open.

Another person in a cloak drops Melanie's limp body on the altar we prepared for this moment.

“Master, here is her body,” the voice says, sounding oddly familiar.

“Did you encounter any of them on the way? I bet they won't just let you take her like that, I said, wanting to hear the voice again.

“I did, Aiden. The human, he was the one on watch, so I killed him.” He grumbles, his voice coming out deeper than the first one.

“Oh well, his death means nothing. Let's start the ritual before she awakens.” my master commands, his hands stretch out, carrying a golden dagger from the table in front.

Why do I have a weird feeling about this?

“Zakal.” I called out, and the other guy in a cloak turned to me.

Instantly I know it's a trap; his name isn't Zakal.

“Master, watch out!!!!” I scream out, dashing forward.

But, it's too late.

Melanie shoots up, lodging a dagger deep in my master's throat.

“Surprise, you son of a bitch!!” She growls at him.
