Chapter 48
"I can see discussions are made here." Nikki giggled as she kept twirling the dagger. "I just thought it would be considerate to make my input."
"Nuri, get out of the girl!" Verona cried out at she charged towards Nikki.
"Ah, Ah, Ah." Nikki raised the dagger to her own throat. Verona stopped in her tracks as Jeremy's eyes wide.
"You come any closer and this sweet little girl will join her ancestors in the afterlife," Nikki cackled.
"That dagger is not silver." Ronald glared at her. "It may harm the girl but it will not kill her."
"That's what you think,Alpha." Nikki shook her head. "But you underestimate my power. You shouldn't do that."
Nikki turned her gaze to Jeremy.
"The young Alpha can testify to that." She grinned and Jeremy glowered at her.
"I can infuse this dagger with my magic and make it silver." Nikki faced Ronald. "And you don't want to doubt me on that. My powers are that vast."
Ronald clenched his fists and ground his jaw, staring helplessly at the little girl.
"What do you want,Nuri?" Verona sighed.
"That's more like it." Nikki faced her. "I want you to call off your attack."
"You must be out of your mind if you think that's going to happen." The Beta glared at her.
"You want to put this little girl's life on the line here?" Nikki faced the Beta. "I know how much you value members of your pack."
"Nuri, I'm not going to say this again." Verona was angry now."Get out of that girl now."
"Or what?" Nikki challenged. "You'll cast me out with one of your weak and pathetic spells? It's not going to work. I used a stronger spell this time. And one of the ingredients came from a special someone who one of Jeremy's pack adores?"
"Dahlia!" Jeremy gasped.
"You drew energy from Dahlia?!" Verona cried out to the girl. "Are you aware.."
"That she's with child?" Nikki completed. "Of course I know that. I can't believe I'm still underestimated here."
She shook her head in mock sorrow.
"Of course, I drew energy from the child too." She smiled innocently.
"Nuri!" Verona clenched her fist. "How could you stoop so low?"
"Should anything surprise you at this point?" Nikki shrugged.
"Get out of her body this moment," Verona said.
"I won't. And there's nothing you can do about it," Nikki replied.
"Oh, is there?" Verona said.
She turned to face Jeremy with a knowing look.
"No," Jeremy said to her shock.
"But, Alpha. It's the only way," she began.
"No, Verona." Jeremy stood his ground. "I'm not going to let you harm yourself again. We almost lost you the last time you tried that. I'm not putting your life at risk again."
Verona paused as his words touched her. Her eyes lowered slowly.
"So what do we do?" she asked.
"I think I may have a clue." Jeremy walked towards Nikki.
"Nikki." He crouched before her. "I know you are still in there. You have to fight it."
"Don't waste your energy," she cackled. "You are not getting me out of here."
"Shut up,witch!" He seethed, taking the little girl aback. "I'm talking to the sweet little girl."
Nikki twitched a bit. The purple glow in her eye flickered and Jeremy had a glimmer of hope.
"That's it, Nikki," he said. "Fight it."
"Silence!" She screamed, putting the knife to her throat. "I'll kill her!"
"No,you won't." Jeremy shook his head. "Because she would not let you. I know she won't."
Nikki's hand shook as the grip on the knife was slowly losing.
"That's it." Jeremy peered into her eyes. "You can do it,Nikki. You are a sweet little girl with a pure heart and a powerful imagination. You are a true member of Blackstone pack. You have all the qualities of a blackstone werewolf. Strength.."
"S..Shut up!" Nikki dropped the weapon, clutching her head.
"Virtue."
"Go away!"
"Courage."
"S..Stop!"
"Determination."
Nikki cried out as the glow was nearly losing it's brightness in her eye.
"J..Jeremy?" The familiar sweet voice of the little girl was surfacing.
"That's right,Nikki," Jeremy said. "Fight it. Fight her. You can do it!"
Nikki screamed as a purple light emanated from her and filled the room. Everyone shielded their eyes. When the light was gone, Jeremy removed his hands from his face.
"Jeremy?" Nikki was staring at him confused.
"Hey, little one." He smiled in relief.
She tried to walk towards him but found her legs shaky. A wave of unconsciousness washed through her as she collapsed into his arms. Everyone rushed over.
"Is she..." Ronald paused.
"She's fine." Jeremy nodded, smiling at the sleeping girl in her arms. "Just tired."

Nuri opened her eyes. She stood up from the ground where she previously sat Indian style and walked towards the window, passing Dahlia's sleeping form as she did.
"So he has gotten stronger," she mused.
Shaking her head, she moved to Dominic's bedroom and knocked.
"Come in," he called from within.
She walked in and found him seated by the bed, a pensive look on his face.
"How was it?" he asked.
"Not successful," she replied.
He stood up from the bed immediately.
"What!" He cried. "But.."
"It doesn't matter." She sat on his bed. "Regardless of how it turned out."
"Tommorow night is your night of victory." She smiled at him.
