Chapter 337

Chapter 337

"Are you okay?"

I was afraid Leopold was hurt. I carefully reached out to touch him.

Leopold grabbed my hand. "I'm fine. It's other people's blood."

His words made my heart clench.

Clearly, his situation outside had been just as difficult.

"Leopold, how did you get in here? What about David and Lauren?" Sophia struggled to prop herself up, staring at Leopold in disbelief.

"Did you think I was already dead?" Leopold looked at her coldly, his eyes devoid of warmth.

Sophia quickly shook her head. "No... no."

Leopold's lips curved into a chilling smile. "I don't take the Seymour family seriously. And I take David even less seriously."

Sophia's face went pale.

Leopold made a gesture, and a dozen black-clad bodyguards rushed in.

They were dragging two disheveled people with matted hair.

It took me a while to recognize them as Lauren and Brielle.

I was wondering where David was when I saw him being dragged in.

David was covered in blood, without even the strength to lift his eyelids.

I drew in a sharp breath.

Hearing this, Leopold gripped my hand tighter.

He lowered his voice. "If I hadn't done this to them, I'd be the one being dragged in."

He was explaining his ruthlessness.

I steadied my breathing and squeezed his hand back. "I know."

When it came to life and death, there was no room for old sentiments.

Sophia was completely stunned.

"How could this happen... this... how is this possible..."

She shook her head desperately, unable to accept this outcome.

Teddy silently entered and placed chairs behind Leopold and me.

I was speechless.

That composure was unbeatable.

Leopold wanted to take Orion from my arms.

But Orion refused to let go of me, shaking his little head in refusal.

"It's okay. I can hold him."

I gently soothed Orion and sat down in the chair.

Leopold sat beside me, expressionless as he looked at the four people across from us.

David lifted his blood-stained face and said resentfully, "Leopold, don't think you'll have the last laugh. Even if we're no match for you, someone will help us get rid of you."

My eyes sharpened. "Who?"

David gave a cold laugh but didn't speak.

I was about to ask again when Leopold said the name coldly.

"You mean Ethan?"

I looked around. Ethan wasn't here.

David's smile froze at the corners of his mouth. Then he said viciously, "Since you know, good. We've already reached an agreement with the Guise family. As long as you're kept in Gravenford Kingdom, the Percy Group will be mine."

Leopold sneered. "Yours? More like the Seymour family's."

"You're lying!" David was furious, shouting loudly.

Leopold ignored him and looked at Lauren, who hadn't spoken. "Mrs. Seymour, you tell us. Ethan had you marry David. He must have promised other benefits."

"What!" David looked at Lauren in shock.

I was shocked too. I knew David's marriage to the Seymour family was a partnership, but I didn't know the details.

Much less that Ethan was orchestrating everything.

"Leopold, stop trying to drive a wedge between us. My mother didn't..."

Before Brielle could finish, Lauren cut her off.

"Mr. Percy, if I tell you, will you spare the Seymour family?"

"Mom!" Brielle's eyes widened.

"Shut up." Lauren scolded her coldly.

Only then did Brielle close her mouth.

"Lauren, that's not what you told me before!" David was both angry and anxious.

Lauren glanced at him with contempt. "If Mr. Guise hadn't instructed me, a waste like you wouldn't even be qualified to carry my shoes."

David froze, as if being called worthless for the first time.

I couldn't help asking Leopold quietly, "When did you find all this out?"

Why hadn't I noticed anything?

Leopold looked down at me, the coldness in his eyes instantly melting into warmth.

He reached out and ruffled my hair, saying softly, "Cindy, I'll explain some things when we get back."

I nodded gently.

Leopold looked back at Lauren, his gaze ice-cold and piercing.

"The Seymour family right now has no right to negotiate with me."

Lauren's expression changed slightly. "Don't push too far."

Leopold pulled a black USB drive from his pocket and showed it to Lauren. "The Seymour family was originally just a third-rate minor family. In just one year, you became a top-tier family and gained royal favor—a business miracle. I just don't know if the funds from your money laundering and smuggling can withstand investigation."

Lauren stared at him intently. "Mr. Percy, don't burn your bridges. Are you sure you want to go this far?"

"You're the ones who went too far. If you hadn't taken my son, I'd already be back in Silverlight City."

Lauren had no response.

His gaze swept over David.

The next second, David exploded. "Leopold, I'm your uncle! The Percy family and the Seymour family are also in-laws. Aren't you afraid people will talk behind the Percy family's back if you make such a scene!"

When it came to his interests, David suddenly cared about family ties.

"The one they'll talk about is you, not the Percy family." Leopold coldly put away the USB drive. "Since you don't value this opportunity, I'm taking it back."

"Just wait to be summoned by the investigation bureau."

Leopold stood up, protecting Orion and me as we headed out.

Teddy and the other black-clad bodyguards followed closely.

"Wait!"

Lauren seemed to change her mind and quickly called out to us.

But Leopold didn't stop.

"Mr. Percy!"

"Leopold!"

Lauren's voice grew more urgent.

I glanced at Leopold's tense expression. Seeing he didn't respond, I stayed silent too.

Outside the door, the Seymour family's bodyguards who'd been so arrogant earlier were now all crouched on the ground with their hands on their heads.

"Leopold, you'll regret leaving now!"

Brielle's shrill voice came from behind the door.

"Because your son...!"

I stopped abruptly, looking at Leopold in alarm. "Brielle just mentioned Orion."

"Ignore her. Nothing she says is true. The investigation bureau will be here in five minutes. Let's go."

Leopold didn't believe her and pulled me to keep walking.

But I felt uneasy.

An indescribable feeling gripped my heart.

The car was right in front of us, but I still stopped.

"Leopold, I'm not comfortable with this. I want to go ask Brielle to verify."

Leopold frowned. "Cindy, if you're worried, I'll have Brady check Orion when we get back. It's not safe here. We should leave as soon as possible."

I hesitated.

Orion in my arms suddenly began squirming. I almost couldn't hold him.

"Mommy... I don't feel good..."

His voice was weak.

I quickly adjusted him in my arms, only to see his face suddenly turn pale.

Orion's eyebrows knitted together.

"Orion, what's wrong? Don't scare Mommy!" I panicked immediately.

Leopold quickly took him from me, then opened the back door and laid Orion flat in the car.

Just as he was about to unbutton Orion's coat, Orion suddenly sat up.

"Ugh—"

He opened his mouth wide, and a large mouthful of black blood gushed out.

Leopold couldn't dodge in time. Some blood splattered on his face.

"Orion!" I screamed.

My mind exploded with a deafening roar.
