Chapter 43: Alexander's pov
I could feel my hands literally shaking, as I walked towards the building my Uncle decided to meet me at an old cafe after so many back and forth. He sounded annoyed on the phone call, he was confident no one can harm him, then why was he hiding.
Uncle Joe was never married, at least not that I’ve heard of. Come to think of it he truly is evil. He's old, lonely and bitter, probably because of his terrible lifestyle.
Ethan was already in the flower shop close to the café. We had another round of argument about my meeting with my uncle before we left the house.
“I told you I’ll be fine , we’ve talked about this like a million times already.” I told him “You don’t know what’s in your uncles head.” He said.
He had me put on a smart glass even after Noah gave me a smart pen which had a recorder and camera. He also had a tracking device installed into my wristwatch and one that looks like a button at the top part of my suit shirt making it look like just as regular extra button. And that was how I ended up with more surveillance equipment on my body than a low budget spy movie.
“Take of your jacket. One of the ugly looking security guys ordered when I was about to enter the building. And I did.
“Make sure he has nothing on him take his watch too.’ The least ugly one said.
They searched me like I have some kind of relic I’m trying to hide.
Inside, the place didn’t look like a café anymore. The espresso machine was unplugged, the tables stacked in a corner, and a girl around eighteen 0r nineteen, stood behind the counter, definitely not making coffee. She glanced at me nervously, then quickly looked away.
My uncle sat in the middle of the room, nonchalantly, legs crossed, posture relaxed, looking like he owned the air he breathed.
“Hello uncle.” My voice was dry.
“My favourite and only nephew. Make your self comfortable.” He was irritatingly cheerful. “What would you like to drink? “
“Nothing, I’m ok.” I answered.
“Too bad I wanted you to taste my favourite coffee mix.”
“Oh please, stop acting like you care.”
“Of course I do care, why else would I be going through all this trouble just to meet with you?”
I stared at him for a moment and decided to start asking him the prepared questions so I can leave as soon as possible.
“What exactly is your goal in all of this?”
He scoffed,” I just want what’s rightfully mine. Your father just wouldn’t accept the fact the I worked the hardest for blackwood empire and I deserve to take over.”
“So you think I’m not fit to take care of it or what?” I questioned him.
“No, all I’m saying is that you let Me be the owner , the largest shareholder and I’ll let you maintain your position and keep your toys around.”
“My what?”
“You know what I mean don’t make me say it. I know you’ve been sticking your bodyguard’s dick up your ass, which brings us to our next topic of discussion.” I froze at the mention of Ethan but the I relaxed immediately.
The way he was cheerful and all told me he had something up his sleeves.
“What does Ethan has to do with any of this?” I finally asked the one question that’s been bugging me. Cause I really needed to know why Ethan an Ben Caver or whatever the hell is his name is tangled in this mess.
“Oh... I see you boy toy left you in the dark, isn’t that cute.” His smile broadened. “ let help you with that. Remember when Blackwood Empire had issues and the stock prices went down?”
“Yeah, what does that have to do with these.” I answered dryly
“Guess the little boy that helped your father.”
“No. No, it can’t be Ethan.”
“I’m sure you’re not that stupid to figure the rest out, but just so you know Ethan has eight percent of Blackwood Empire. Back to Ben, Ethan ruined his name ,saying Ben betrayed him blah blah blah which is probably true and almost got him caught by his former colleague in the army for human trafficking and all but I don’t care.”
I just sat there, I couldn’t say anything,my brain was trying to process the whole information .
“ Are you done recording or you have more questions.” I didn’t know what to say to him “ Okay, Since you’re done recording, take off the glasses and drop it gently on the table.”
Shit !
“Do you take me for a fool boy?” He probably figured out it’s not ordinary glasses. “ You hate glasses and all of a sudden your putting on one which isn’t even a sunglasses, come on Alex my boy, you can do better than that.”
“You don’t expect me to come see you unprepared after your failed attempts to kill me, did you ?” I regained my composure so that my emotions won’t get the best of me.
“And all your preparations ended up in glasses, that’s terrible.” He gestured to the glass “ Trash it.” One of his men snatched the glasses away from the table.
I was left with only the button on my shirt and the pen in my shirts pocket which looked less suspicious, an meant Ethan and the rest of the guys could still see and hear every damn thing being said.
“So,” Uncle Joe said casually, “how do you want to do it? The easy way” he pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at me “or the hard way? Either way, I’m here with the paperwork, and I won’t leave without it signed.”
He shoved the papers across the table at me.
My heartbeat thundered, but my face remained calm.
Behind me, the door clicked.
The girl behind the counter , I forgot she was there, I saw a swallowed hard.
My uncle leaned back, almost bored.
“You’re going to sign it, Alex,” he said. “Because if you don’t...” he kissed the gun in his hand.
A sharp sound cracked through the air.
A gunshot.
“I’ll stop playing nice.”
My heart almost stopped. I’m sure Ethan saw I was ok that’s why he didn’t appear immediately.
“I won’t sign anything.”
My uncle’s eyes lifted, smug and slow.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
He cocked the gun again. This time pointed it at me. I knew Ethan wouldn’t sit back and let Me get...
Bang!
