Chapter 178
Chapter 178
Betty pressed her red lips tightly together. Just as she was about to refuse, she heard Adrian say coolly, "Have a child for me, boy or girl, and I'll leave all my shares to our child in the future."
Elara was completely shocked. Her eyes widened in disbelief, and she couldn't say a word.
She could only look at Betty, hoping she would come to her senses.
Clearly, Betty was indeed clearheaded. After thinking for a few seconds, she raised her own question. "Will you fight me for custody?"
Elara's throat tightened. She felt they had all truly gone mad.
She couldn't listen anymore. With a cold expression, she turned and walked out of the office. "Two lunatics, crazy people!"
Adrian's gaze remained fixed on her face as he said, "Of course not. Do you think I lack women to have children for me?"
Betty tugged at the corner of her mouth. "You hate the Wright family so much, yet you want me to have a child for you?"
Adrian leaned closer, lifting her chin and looking down at her with deep eyes, mocking sarcastically, "Yes, if that good father of yours knew his daughter married his enemy's son for the sake of his posthumous reputation, and even had a son for his enemy, wouldn't he be rolling in his grave?"
Betty's expression turned ugly under his mockery.
She jerked her face away and refused coldly, "I won't give you custody of the child. Of course, whoever you want to have children with, however many you want, I won't care."
Adrian's eyes grew unfathomably deep. "What do you mean?"
Betty took a deep breath and looked at him again, her eyes very indifferent, so indifferent that it was like looking at a stranger. "I agree to marry you, but I won't interfere with your life during our marriage. I should be considered thoughtful, right? But I only have one requirement - please get regular health checkups. Of course, if you don't have sex with me, just pretend I never said this."
Adrian's expression darkened completely at her words. He stared at her with a menacing gaze. "How generous of you. What? Were all those germaphobic tendencies from before just an act?"
Betty clearly paused. She looked at him with cold indifference. "I am a germaphobe, but the thing is attached to your body. Can I control it?"
However, to prevent him from going crazy again, Betty still warned him. "But if what happened last time happens again, I might become an actual murderer first. Of course, if you're not afraid of death."
After all, at that moment she really did want to kill someone. If she had actually had a knife within reach, she definitely would have stabbed it into his body!
Everyone had their limits.
Adrian's eyes turned sinister, and his expression darkened. "You hate me enough to want to kill me?"
Actually, whether her words were a warning or the truth, he naturally knew in his heart.
After all, the scratches on his back hadn't completely healed yet.
She had even gouged out a piece of flesh with her nails.
And Betty's nails hadn't fully grown back either. The bruising on her nail beds had become more obvious, though this was actually a sign of improvement.
She was betting her life and the entire Wright Group that her parents weren't that kind of people.
But if they really were, she wouldn't regret it. No matter what, they were her parents.
The people who loved her most in the world.
Seeing his gaze fall on her nails, Betty slightly curled her hand into a fist. "Will you sign or not?"
Adrian's eyes were unfathomably deep. He suddenly curved the corner of his mouth. "You trust them that much? Even though you've already seen that evidence?"
Betty mockingly tugged at the corner of her mouth. "Should I trust you people instead of my own parents? Just based on that incomplete video you have?"
The curve of Adrian's lips gradually disappeared, his gaze darkly fixed on her.
Betty was calmer and stronger than he had imagined.
Last time, although he was angered by her words and wanted to find a woman to upset her, he hadn't actually had a threesome.
It was really just to scare her, to take her down a peg.
When she knew she was in a weak position and owed them, yet remained so proud and aloof.
Even in his anger, he knew his limits. She looked like she'd been abused, but actually, he hadn't hurt her body at all. If he really wanted to hurt her, she probably wouldn't even be able to get out of bed.
Adrian picked up the pen with a half-smile and spun it in his hand before stopping. "I want to add one more condition."
Betty frowned tightly, not responding, just looking at him indifferently, clearly unwilling to agree to any more conditions.
"Since you trust your good parents so much, how about we make a bet?" Adrian stared at her with unfathomable eyes, saying word by word, "Let's bet on your parents' character. If you win, I'll hand over the shares with both hands and compensate you. But if not..."
Betty's eyes flickered slightly. She was somewhat tempted.
She didn't understand why he was so certain that her parents had done it.
Just based on that video clip and that account record, and the audio recording?
That account record's source still hadn't been traced.
"If not, what do you want?" She asked.
"Same condition as before - have a child for me, as punishment for the Wright family."
If her parents really were the kind of people he described, they really did something wrong, yet she had to have a child for him.
That would really be disgusting...
"Having me bear your child, doesn't that disgust you?" Betty asked.
Adrian curved his lips with a somewhat cold smile. "You're the one giving birth, not me. After you give birth, I won't even want it. Who do you think is more disgusted, you or me?"
Betty's expression immediately turned ugly. She could barely suppress the anger in her heart.
What did he think having a child was?
A tool for revenge?
Betty stared at him coldly. "You really have no morals."
Adrian wasn't bothered, but instead laughed mockingly. "As long as you think your parents have morals, does it matter if I have morals or not?"
He tapped the coffee table with his pen. "So? Do you agree or not?"
Betty stared intently at his cynical yet contemptuous face.
She had actually suspected before that she might have feelings for him...
Adrian was also looking at her. "What? Why are you looking at me like that? Feeling angry?"
Betty withdrew her gaze, snatched the pen from his hand, and signed her name. "Adrian, I'll take this bet with you! With my life."
As soon as she finished speaking, she finished signing. Layla burst through the door just in time to see this scene.
"Betty!"
After calling out to her, Layla looked at the contract, walked over, and snatched it away.
After reading it, her expression couldn't have been uglier. She clutched the contract tightly and looked at the fearless Adrian. "Mr. Evans, don't go too far!"
