Chapter 15
*Things I like to do!*
~
My friends and I headed to the cafeteria, I watched very closely if she was going to be at the cafeteria, around this time most students would flood the cafeteria. We occupied our usual spot, it was like a marking on a territory. She was sitting with Lacey and two other girls eating and chattering and laughing about something I knew nothing about. Seeing her smile provoked me in the worse ways, I couldn't tell but somehow I was still getting irritated and I still believe that she was faking everything. Their table was just adjacent to where we sat, I took a sip from the coffee in front of me, my mind was far from their discussion about the party at 7 pm; I turned my eyes in her direction and took it off slowly.
"Dave, are you even listening?" Mason asked
"Yeah what are you talking about," I turned to them abruptly
"The party dude, y'all are coming to my house at 6." He said then I nodded curtly.
"How's Sherry, isn't she coming too...you know we got a lot to straighten out," he smirked giving me a rough punch on the shoulder then I shuddered to take a sip again. Mason's girl was dragging her playfully to come around our table, she was refraining strongly. She would look in my direction and speak with Lacey, she did that thrice while I was watching and I was getting unnecessarily infuriated. I was widely known for a bad temperament and I always fail to control it. They started on our way then I stood up to leave, Rob dragged me down to sit instead; he insisted that we leave for the basketball court together.
The more they drew closer the more I got tempted to leave, there was no way I could share the same table as her. Lacey and Mason hugged and kissed swiftly as they sat abreast, and the available space for whatever was for her. I nodded lightly in mockery while she stood still, she was telling Lacey that she'd just return to the class.
"Why would you return to the class when there's a spot for your holy ass," I blurted out smirking, my friends smiled faintly but forcefully. Lacey insisted that she sits for a while since they had been bored over there. She dropped on it, she was terrified, and her skin was heating. Sitting next time I was like sitting on coals, I could see through her eyes.
"Or maybe it's considered unholy around guys like us." I blurted out again, Mason, Bob, and Rob pricked me with a 'shut it for once' stare.
"C'mon Dave," Mason said
"What man, I thought she was skeptical about unholy people. As it stands, I don't think I want to be righteous at the moment. Bloody virgin!" I added seriousness to my tone. She swallowed up after my statement.
"Dave could you just let her be for once we all know that you hate her but you don't own this school either," Lacey blurted out defensively
"Mason you might wanna tell your Sisi that I wasn't referring to her except if she wants me to!" I said in a pissed tone
"No Dave, don't talk to my girl that way alright?!" Mason warned getting tensed, I say too much but I didn't mean it.
"Whatever!" I snapped angrily
"Chill!" The twin boys said to me in unison. She was interlocking her fingers shyly, she was shaking intermittently, and they continued conversing about the party. I moved the coffee cup in front of her as she carefully studied it like she's never seen one before. I used my index fingertip and pushed the cup of coffee onto her.
"Oops! Seems like the holiest is getting herself soaking and fuckin wet down there! That's unholy bloody virgin Mary!" I blurted out with a smirk, she yelped at once.
“Da..." Was the only word that escaped her mouth and I wasn't sure someone heard that I guess it was just me. The look on my friends’ faces was more like disappointment and a tinge of the urge to laugh about what I said. I walked out of the cafeteria, all eyes were on me; most were recording and it didn't bother me not even for once. Rob and Bob followed from behind.
***Claudia's POV:***
"I'll just talk to him," Mason said to me then I nodded disapprovingly
"Don't bother." I calmly stated stood hiding the edge of my dress that got ruined by coffee, I ran out of the cafeteria because I couldn't stand the shame and embarrassment that was raining down on me. I made my way into the female restroom and then reached for the wash hand basin, I placed my hands on the smooth surface looking at my reflection in the mirror, I closed my eyes tightly and opened them slowly as I watched the tears I was concealing roll down my cheeks nonstop. Too many regrets and wishes would not spare me or my stupidity, I wondered why Davis treated me in this manner, he poured the cup of coffee on me on purpose. I partly blamed Lacey for insisting that I seat next to him, I mean how's it possible that a cat and mouse lay on the same pillow, that was Davis and me?
I've never felt underestimated and reduced to such a level before and here I was, sulking in the restroom. He could at least tell me to leave and I'd gladly do that. I switched the tap and dampened the handkerchief into the water and squeezed off the water and cleaned my dress in the best way I could. I used my hands and wiped the tears that lingered around my temple.
"This is not fair Davis, you can't treat me like garbage?I won't let you!" I muttered within. My phone had been vibrating the whole time now and I think I know who it would be. I wrapped my bag pack and walked out of the restroom.
