Chapter 21

Present Olivia sobbed. "That was how Bianca and I left our parents’ house and started our life afresh. It wasn't easy. I dropped out of school, but Bianca continued hers. I became depressed and I wanted to kill myself, but Bianca was always there to save me. She started taking care of me but still, it wasn't enough.

I pushed and pushed until I gave birth to Kylie. Bianca gave her that name." She smiled weakly. "I love Kylie, but I always feel lonely, so I started drinking more and more, and soon my life depended on alcohol."

"Where is Bianca now?" Jaime asked.

"Neighboring city," Olivia replied. "That was where Kylie and I had been staying until recently. I intentionally moved out of her house. She needs her privacy. She needs to have a man in her life. She thinks she doesn't need one but I'm sure she needs one"

"What are you doing for a living?"

"Nothing. Bianca is working. Your death destroyed my life, Dermot. If I had only knew that you were still living, I would have tried to become somebody. Your mom told me that you were dead," Olivia whimpered. "She told us that and we believed her."

"She wasn't lying when she told you that," Jaime said.

"What do you mean?"

"To her, I'm dead."

"Isn't she your mother?" Olivia asked.

"She is…or let me say she was," Jaime replied.

"Explain"

"That morning, we planned to go to school together. As I was heading out of the house, someone rang the doorbell. I thought it was you so, I opened the door. But instead of seeing you in front of the door, I saw someone else. He looked exactly like me but older than me. The same blue eyes and blonde hair. At first, I thought I was dreaming until the man talked. He hugged me and then I said 'Are you here to see my parents? They are at home. Let me call them for you' 'I'm here to talk to you' he replied.

He said he is my real father. My biological. At first, I didn't understand what he meant but when I did, I wasn't shocked. It was too obvious. But still I wanted my mom to know about the stranger that was at our door entrance so, I called Mom. Do you know what mom's reply was?"

Olivia shook her head and said "No"

"'Just go with him. To us, you're dead' I will never forget those words. Some morning when I wake up, I still hear it in my brain. Those words hurt me so badly that I followed the man into his limousine. I'm sure you didn't notice any limousine that day"

"I didn't"

"I saw you. You were standing in front of your parents’ house. You were definitely waiting for me. I was worried about you, but my dad told me something on that day, he said I have to forget about everybody"

"Were you able to?"

"I deleted everybody out of my brain except you. You took me months. I found it hard to move on"

"But…you were able to?"

"Yes" Jaime shrugged "But I still always think of you maybe twice in a year.

Mom was dating my biological dad before she met Jon Owen. She left dad and married Jon with me inside of her because at the time, Jon was better than dad"

"Kylie is your daughter" Olivia said "I know and I would have come back for you if I'd knew that I meant that much to you"

***

Laura had been seated inside her car for hours. She was waiting for Jaime to come out of the single mother's house. She checked her phone clock; the time was already quarter past two in the morning. Out of anger, she dialed Jaime's number.

Jaime missed the first call so, she tried again "Hello" Jaime said

"Love, where are you?" Laura said "Home" Jaime replied sleepily and yawned into the phone Tears rolled down from Laura's eyes uncontrollably "Can I come over?" Laura asked "No. I'm really tired. We will talk tomorrow"

"Okay. I love you Jaime"

"Bye. See you tomorrow" Jaime replied and hung up the phone "Liar! Liar!! Liar!!!" Laura started screaming inside her car while hitting the steering wheel. "I knew it!!!"

When Laura was calm enough, she started her car and drove back to her house "Who was that?" Olivia carefully asked Jaime

"A friend. He needs a place to crash in" he lied "Okay. So, what are you going to do about us?"

"What I should have done years ago" Jaime replied and moved closer to where Olivia was. He put his mouth on Olivia's and started kissing her.

"Oh my God. I missed this" he moaned and carried her into her room ***

"Don't tell Kylie yet. Let's take it slow" Olivia said to Jaime the next morning "Why?"

"I told her that you're dead"

"Okay but don't let it take long. I can't wait to hear her call me Daddy"

Olivia sighed and looked into Jaime's deep blue eyes "That day when I saw you, I couldn't believe my eyes"

"I knew it was you the moment I saw you"

Olivia smiled and caressed Jaime's face "You've changed. You don't look like the Dermot that I used to know. You are now rich, powerful and cuter"

Jaime smiled confidently "All thanks to dad"

When it was time for Jaime and Kylie to leave for work and school respectively, Jaime kissed Olivia in front of Kylie "Woohoo" Kylie said happily and clapped her hands

"I will be back in the afternoon" Jaime whispered to Olivia "I will be expecting you" Olivia replied The moment they left, Olivia picked up her phone and dialed Bianca's number "Livia" Bianca said "Bianca, how are you doing?"

"Fine. You?"

"Very great"

"You sound happy" Bianca said "I'm happy"

"I'm happy that you're happy but, what are you happy about little sis?"

"Dermot" Olivia replied "Dermot?"

"He isn't dead. He is alive under a different name"

"Dermot is alive and you've met him?"

"Yes"

"Livia, are you sure you're okay?"

"Don't worry big sis, I am"

"I don't trust that guy. I won't allow him to hurt you again. I know what you went through eight years ago when you thought he was dead. Send me your address"

"Bianca" Olivia called "Now!"
