Chapter 72
"And you, son, I'm highly disappointed in you. I can't believe this. I mean, to think that we rushed here for a different reason, only to be met by this act of nonsense is bizarre to me." Mr Zaveri turned to look at Sorin as he spoke to him, obviously irritated by his son's actions.
"How could you embarrass us like this?" He added.
"Father, I have done nothing wrong."
"Another word from you and you'll doubt if I am your father!" He threatened, and Sorin kept quiet.
Suddenly, Daisy burst into fake tears, pretending like she is hurt to gain favour.
"I don't know what I've done to you guys that you hate me so much, when it is obvious that your son loves me and not that cheap thrash you got for him as a wife." She said with disgust.
Her words just added more fuel to the fire that was already on ground.
Angry, Mr Zaveri turned to look at her and she immediately looked away.
"What are you still doing here? Please leave this place before I lose my temper!" He yelled at her.
"No matter what you say, we'll get married and there is nothing you will do about it. If you don't want it to be done in your presence, we'll have it done in your absence! Mark my words!" Daisy said carelessly, leaving everyone in the room shocked by her words.
"Daisy!" Sorin screamed at her. "Have you lost your damn mind?"
"No, I have to make them know that no one, dead or alive, can stop us from being together.
"Over my dead body!" Mrs Zaveri spat.
"Well, whoever doesn't want it to happen while they are alive, can as well die for all I care." Daisy said again, without thinking.
"Daisy! You have done enough! Now leave my house! " Sorin ordered, angrily.
"What? Are you sending me out of your house?" She asked, surprised.
"Yes, I am." Sorin answered. "Why are you here in the first place?" He asked, not expecting an answer.
He then immediately turned to Kelvin,
"Get her out of here this minute!" He ordered Kelvin who immediately sprung into action and led an hesitant Daisy out of the room.
"Babe, you're really throwing me out of your house? All because of that cheap thing too?" She asked Sorin as she was being led out, but he turned his back to her.
"You better watch your tongue and leave." Sorin's mum chipped in.
As much as Sorin always tolerated Daisy's excesses, one of which was lack of empathy and the right choice of words, amidst so many others, but an insult or rather, a threat to his parent's lives was something he would never condone because despite his stubbornness, they loved him dearly and he loved them equally as much.
"Can you see what you have brought upon us? Imagine the embarrassment!" Mrs Zaveri said.
"Mum, Dad, I sincerely apologize on Daisy's behalf. She doesn't mean any of the things she just said." Sorin defended her.
"Typical of you. You'll always defend her. You're so blind to all her faults, that's why you keep making excuses for her. Should we begin to mention the numerous things she has done in the past? Things that you know of and even the ones that were hidden from you? If we begin, we sure will not leave here today and even the day after." His mother said angrily.
"But mum!" He protested.
"No buts, son. We will never accept her and that is final." His father finalized.
"Exactly, we already chose the right one for you and deep down, you know she is the right one. Very quiet, resilient, thoughtful, respectful and kind. Yet you want to throw her away and pick someone who will probably end your life? Never! I'm never going to let that happen. I'm not ready to lose another child." His mother said and she started crying.
Hearing this, Sorin walked up to her and hugged her, trying to console her.
"You're not going to lose me, it won't happen, mum."
"I'm sorry about all that happened, I'm sorry you got to see all that mess. Please, forgive me." Sorin apologized to his parents.
"It's fine." His father said, as he strolled to his wife and wiped her tears.
"It's fine, honey." He said as he planted a kiss on her lips, making her blush.
"Really guys?" Sorin said, staring at them. "Get a room!" He said and they all started laughing.
"So, what should I offer you?" He asked.
"Nothing, we are fine." His father responded.
"Uh, why? Are you guys still angry?" He asked. "But I apologized already."
"We aren't angry but seeing that you are fine has filled us." His mother said, smiling.
"Okay, but I'm quite confused. What does that even mean? And besides, why are you both here? I didn't expect to see you." He said, raising an eyebrow.
"Why? You don't want us here?" His father asked. "Come on, darling, let's go home since he doesn't want us here." His father said, and held his wife's hand.
"Really dad?" Sorin scoffed.
"Yes, since you do not want us here, we'd better be on our way to our house." His father said again.
"Come on, dad. You know that is not what I meant. I'm just surprised to see you both, not that I'm not happy to see you. Thought I was going to see you guys tomorrow at the family dinner with G.P." Sorin explained.
"Speaking about the family dinner tomorrow, we cancelled it when we heard you weren't fine, but since you're obviously fine now, I'll reschedule now." Mr Zaveri said as he began to type on his phone.
"Really? Reschedule? Do you have to?" Sorin asked.
"Well, yes. You know G.P Zaveri would never tolerate any irresponsible act. We can't just cancel a meeting without rescheduling another." His mum explained.
After a while of Sorin waiting for his parents to explain why they were at his house and got nothing, he stared at them with a look that expected more information and his mum understood.
"Well, we got news that you were not fine and so we rushed here." His mother said, and his father nodded in agreement.
"And who gave you that news?" He asked them.
They were about to answer when the door opened and Kelvin walked in.
"Sir, she has left." He said as he stepped in, but Sorin just stared intently at him.
"You told them, didn't you?" He suddenly asked and thankfully, Kelvin knew what he was talking about but decided to act like he didn't.
"Told them what?" He asked.
"Don't play with me, Kelvin. You definitely know what I'm talking about." He said again.
"Well, I didn't have a choice. They kept calling, you weren't picking up and they were getting really worried. I had to at least tell them." Kelvin explained.
"Arrgghhhh" Sorin grunted.
"You had better calm yourself down." His father said to him.
"Anyway, how did it happen? What did you do to help him so fast, Kelvin?" Mrs Zaveri asked, curiously.
"To be honest, ma'am, I didn't do anything. In Fact, I was surprised. The moment Mrs Andrea walked into the room and called his name, that was it! He snapped out of it immediately. I really do not know how it was possible."
"Really? That's all?" Mrs Zaveri gasped in excitement.
"Yes, ma'am. That was all that happened." Kelvin confirmed.
"You see, honey, I knew we made the right choice. I'm so glad, my happiness knows no bounds." His mother said, smiling satisfactorily.
"What did G.P say?" She turned and asked her husband.
"He said next week is fine. He is looking forward to seeing them already." Mr Zaveri said and his wife smiled in excitement.
"Uhhhhhhh! Not again! I thought I had escaped already." Sorin protested, but his parents paid him no mind.
"Sorry, my dear son, you haven't." His mother said mockingly.
"Infact, I should go and see my daughter in-law right now. I'll be back soon, honey." She said, and before Sorin could stop her, she was out of the room.

I sat in front of the huge mirror as I examined myself. "How did I get here, to this point in my life?" Was what I kept asking myself.
"Being fought because of a man who doesn't even show that he loves me in any way?" I thought to myself, as I blew air out of my mouth in frustration.
I had just two people to blame for my predicament -MY PARENTS! If they had not dragged me into this marriage, there was no way I would be going through what I was going through at the moment.
As I picked a hair brush and started brushing my scattered hair, I felt a bit of pain on my face and as I traced where the pain was coming from, I noticed a mark on my face. It looked like a mark from something sharp. It was then that I realized that while Daisy was fighting me, she had scratched my face with her nails.
Whether she did it intentionally or mistakenly, I didn't know and I didn't care.
I searched for the first aid box and found it in one of the corners in the room. I opened and picked the cotton wool, methylated spirit and a band-aid. I began to apply it on the injured part, which made me wince in pain, and I stopped for a moment.
"Can the world just end already!" I said out loud.
"But why?" A soft and calm voice asked, startling me.
I was so lost in thoughts that I didn't realize someone had walked in.
