Chapter 71
"You witch! You slut!" Daisy almost screamed her lungs out.
Seeing us in each other's embrace, Daisy screamed at the top of her voice, like she had just seen a ghost. Her face was twisted in anger and hurt as she charged towards us, well, towards me actually, like an angry bull.
Thanks to Kelvin, who immediately sprung into action, holding her firmly, and preventing her from touching me.
"Leave me alone! Let me go! Let me show this little witch the stuff I'm made of." She kept yelling.
"You think you can take what is mine from me? Never! It won't happen. I will never let it happen. I'll show you who I truly am and what I am capable of doing!" She shouted, as she tried to attack me again but this time Kelvin had to lift her while her legs kept kicking the air violently.
If I wasn't the one who was about to be attacked, I would have been laughing because it was such a funny sight but it was impossible for me to laugh at that moment because I would have been battered by Daisy.
Although she didn't have the huge physique of a fighter, I still feared her because she was older and more physically fit than I was and judging from the fact that I had just started myself for a long time, I sure was just a frail-looking young lady.
I think one of the main reasons Daisy kept getting angry was because Sorin didn't let go of my hand, even as he watched how she was acting all crazy. Her heart sank as she saw that Sorin wasn't saying anything to defend himself too. This was something she least expected. She felt he would have been all over her, apologizing for what he had done and what he had not done, but there he was holding onto the one person he had sworn to despise; Me!
"How could you? How could you do this to me? How could you betray me like this?" She spat, her voice low and bitter, turning to look at him as she spoke with her voice now breaking, indicating that she was close to tears.
"You swore to me that you didn't love her and you have no use for her? "You said it was all a business arrangement. So you've been lying to me all along? Deceiving me?" She said in an unusual calm tone. "Oh my God, I must have been a fool!" Daisy added.
"Will you calm down!" Sorin finally spoke, yelling at her. "Don't you think I know what I am doing? What the hell! In case you've forgotten, we have a plan! Why are you being so dramatic! Damn! He yelled at her once again but she clearly wasn't having it.
Hearing this, my heart sank. I slowly slipped my hand out of Sorin's grip and moved an inch away from him.
"So this is what it is? Wow." I thought to myself.
Not that I didn't know that it was truly a business arrangement, but it just felt like a deadening truth with the way Daisy mentioned it. I could not believe that somewhere deep in my heart, for a moment in Sorin's embrace, I was beginning to have a tiny bit of hope that Sorin might have begun to look past the whole arrangement and maybe have a tad bit of feeling for me. Oh yes! I'm so stupid! In actual fact, I'm the fool and not Daisy.
"Did you have both fun watching me get my hopes up and make a fool out of myself?" She asked again before turning to look at me again but this time, her eyes blazed with fury as she punched Kelvin, who had been holding her back, furiously.
"Calm down, ma'am!" Kelvin yelled at her, holding her shoulders as he shook her.
He then turned to Sorin, "Sir, I think you should take Mrs Zaveri out of here before things get out of hand."
Sorin gestured for me to follow him as he led the way out of the room but I had only taken a few steps when Daisy grabbed me by the hair, tugging on it angrily.
How she managed to escape Kelvin's grip, we had no idea.
Seeing this, Kelvin and Sorin raced towards us and tried to lose her firm grip on my hair.
While the whole ruckus was going on, we didn't realize Sorin's parents had walked in and the whole drama before them was not something they had expected to see in a million years.
"What nonsense is going on here?!" Mr Zaveri's voice thundered through the room, immediately letting silence take over the room.
Daisy's fists clenched at her sides as she glared at Sorin just as his parents walked into the room. Her face was still contorted with rage and her eyes flashing with anger but she was clearly embarrassed.
"Daisy?" Mrs Zaveri called her. "What are you doing here?" She asked Daisy who was too angry and shocked to speak because she never expected that the situation would get to that level.
"Sorin? What is going on?" She asked her son in disbelief but he wasn't answering either.
"Can someone explain what is going on here before I lose my temper!" Mr Zaveri's voice thundered once again through the room and Kelvin decided to talk.
"Actually sir, this is not what it looks like." Kelvin managed to say but his statement sounded foolish to Sorin's parents.
"It is not what it looks like? So they were playing?" He asked. "Do you think we are fools?"
Still embarrassed, Daisy tried to walk out of the room, to save face.
"And where do you think you are going, young lady? Aren't you the culprit? You think you can just slither out of here without apologies and proper explanation for your actions? " He asked her.
"No way! That is not possible!" Mrs Zaveri instantly added. "I'm so disappointed in you, Daisy. I can't believe you would bring yourself to the point of fighting someone else, in her husband's house, for that matter. Unbelievable!" She said angrily.
"Mum! Can you not speak to Daisy in that manner? Calm down, please." Sorin intervened.
"What?" His parents chorused at the same time, shocked that he was taking sides with Daisy. "Don't tell me you're taking sides with her, after everything that just happened."
"Wait, don't tell me you're still harbouring lingering feelings for her, when you are already married to someone else." His mother said, full of surprise.
"No way! He dare not!" His father immediately snapped, shooting daggers at Sorin with his eyes.
"And what if I am?" Sorin suddenly asked, leaving his parents shocked and dumbfounded.
Not just his parents were shocked and dumbfounded, but everyone of us, except, of course, Daisy, who began to smile sheepishly with the corner of her lip.
For a few minutes, the room remained quiet. I began to feel a sense of unease, as the weight of silence pressed down on me. It was suffocating, like a cold and heavy blanket that was difficult to pull off. I began to wish desperately that someone would talk but it seemed like everyone had the same thought, because no one was ready to speak or move.
"I'll guess I'll be the one to do it, then." I thought to myself.
I immediately cleared my throat, hoping to break the intense silence and bring life back into our midst. Thankfully, it worked, because everyone's attention was turned to me.
"Errrr..... Errrrmmmm.... I want to..... I think i...." I began to stutter.
"I think I should just leave now. Welcome sir and ma." I finally was able to talk normally and I began to walk out of the room, leaving Kelvin, Daisy, Sorin and his parents behind.
"I'll come with you, ma'am." Kelvin said and I smiled.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." I said to him.
"Take care of yourself, child. We will see you before we leave." Mr Zaveri said, as her soft smooth hands brushed through my soft, silky hair, rearranging it from Daisy's attack on it, while I just nodded in response.
"And you!" Mr Zaveri yelled.
