Chapter 312: Unleashing Power

When Liliana got home, she angrily called Alexander.

"Alexander, you jerk! I'm pregnant and still have to help you put on a show. I'm telling you, if you don't bring Allison back safely, you'll regret it when you get home!"

Liliana was furious, and Victor was pacing anxiously beside her. Liliana had always had a fiery temper, and pregnancy had only made her more unpredictable. Victor had been indulging her, knowing that Liliana was the most worried about Allison. If she weren't heavily pregnant, she would have probably gone to Eldoria herself.

Being played by the Prime Minister of Eldoria like this, the Carter family certainly wouldn't take it lying down.

"Liliana, I've already contacted Allison. I'll bring her home soon, don't worry. We won't miss New Year's! Tomorrow, the Carter Group has a shareholders' meeting, and I'll need you and your husband to help..."

"Do I owe you or something?"

"Liliana, you're also a shareholder of the Carter Group. You don't need to worry about handling anything. If anyone dares to question you, just fire them. If anyone causes trouble, take back their shares. Don't hold back!"

Liliana raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure? If I fire everyone I don't like, aren't you afraid the Carter Group will go bankrupt?"

Alexander laughed on the other end of the line.

"The troublemakers are the disobedient ones. If they leave, it won't affect the Carter Group at all. Besides, Mia is already an adult. Her five percent of the Carter Group shares should be transferred to her. It's her dowry from our mother!"

Liliana sneered. "Don't try to sweet-talk me. You just want me to deal with the troublemakers, don't you? Well, I'm good at that. But if I make a big mess, don't regret it!"

After hanging up, Liliana tossed her phone onto the couch. Felicity came over, looking worried.

"You need to take care of yourself. It's not good for a pregnant woman to get so angry."

Liliana rubbed her swollen belly. The baby inside was quite well-behaved. At over six months pregnant, she had only suffered a bit at the beginning. Now, the baby was developing well, thanks to Victor's care.

"I haven't been to the company in years. I didn't expect people to take advantage of the situation and cause trouble. Let's see if I'm willing to let that happen!"

Liliana sat down like a queen. When she got tired, she lay on the couch, and Victor thoughtfully brought her a blanket.

"Rest for a bit. I'll make dinner. Alexander and Allison are both very capable. If anyone should be worried, it's those who provoked them!"

Victor was right. After Alexander's car accident and the chaos at the Carter Group, Bernard had activated the dark forces he had planted in Novaria for years. They began to acquire Carter Group shares rapidly.

In his hotel room, Alexander watched the stock market on his computer without panic. He called Augustus Blackstone.

"Contact Cleo and have her short the Carter Group's stock. I'll cover her."

Augustus hesitated, worried. "But Mr. Carter, shorting the stock will cause a significant drop. The group will be in chaos!"

"It's fine. Let Cleo do it. We need to see who's attacking the Carter Group. Transfer the Carter Group's shares to the Bennett Group. Once this is settled, the Carter Group will give the Bennett Group a billion-dollar thank you. Cleo will agree."

Augustus eventually went to Cleo. When she heard about shorting the Carter Group, she was shocked, thinking she had misheard.

"Is your boss out of his mind? Giving up the group just like that?"

"I'll send you the documents. You'll understand after you read them."

Cleo frowned, opened the email, and after reading it, called Carl.

"Carl, want to short the Carter Group and make a fortune?"

Carl's eyelid twitched. Making money off the Carter Group sounded too easy.

"Be careful not to fall into a trap and lose everything. Alexander is using this to divert attention. Do your job and don't give anyone leverage."

Cleo thought about it and eventually agreed. After all, a billion dollars was a lot of money.

Soon, the stock market was in turmoil. The Carter Group's stock continued to fall, and the shareholders were arguing in the conference room.

"Mr. Carter is seriously ill. Someone needs to take charge. I propose that whoever holds the most shares should be the president!"

"That's obvious. But with the stock market in such chaos, who knows where the shares will end up?"

In the midst of the noise, Liliana walked in, wearing a fur coat, high heels, and perfectly applied makeup.

As soon as she entered, she smelled the strong scent of smoke. Liliana frowned, and Victor quickly instructed Augustus.

"Open all the windows. No smoking in the conference room!"

Augustus had the secretarial staff open the windows. Liliana stood at the head of the table, took off her sunglasses, and scanned the room with sharp eyes.

"Pathetic, a bunch of trash!"

Liliana sat down, and the room fell silent.

"Alexander isn't dead yet. What, are you all planning a rebellion?"

"You're pregnant. Why are you here? Women should stay home, raise children, and leave the company to the men."

A shareholder mocked her. Liliana gave him a cold look.

"Who do you think you are, lecturing me? You're a shareholder? With those few shares, you dare to speak up? If you don't want to be a shareholder, sign a transfer agreement. I'll buy your shares at the original price. Deal?"

The shareholders exchanged glances.

"Are you serious? You'll buy at the original price?"

"Do you think I'm joking?"

Liliana looked around. Some shareholders were willing to sign, and she didn't hesitate to arrange for the finance department to transfer the money. The more straightforward she was, the more the major shareholders hesitated.

"As long as the Carter family is here, the Carter Group won't fall. If you believe in the Carter family, go back to work. Once we get through this, Alexander will give year-end bonuses to those who stayed. But if anyone is disloyal, you can resign now. The Carter Group won't miss you, and we won't support ungrateful people!"

Liliana's words didn't cause chaos. Instead, they reassured the employees. Victor watched, his eyes filled with affection. Indeed, his wife was always the most dazzling presence.
