Chapter 218: S2- We're Divorced

Magnus reached out and gently wiped the tears from her face, his voice hoarse. "My Grandpa believed you were the one who set the fire that killed Matthias. He wouldn't pass up any chance to take revenge on you. If I hadn't done what I did, your life would have been in danger."

"Sis, brother-in-law didn't mean to deceive you. Please forgive him." Tobias pleaded anxiously.

"You bad daddy! You made Mommy cry! I hate you!" Maxime angrily raised his little arm and shoved him away before hugging Senna tightly, speaking in an old-fashioned tone, "Mommy, don't cry. Maxime loves you the most."

Looking at his own son standing like a wall between them, Magnus's temple twitched violently. He barely resisted the urge to throw the little brat out.

"Maxime, kids shouldn't interrupt when adults are talking. Let me talk to your daddy, okay?" Senna stroked his head, her mind overflowing with unanswered questions.

Maxime was a very obedient child when it came to his mother. He immediately covered his mouth with both hands and nodded vigorously, looking so adorable that it could melt anyone's heart.

Seeing that he had finally quieted down, Senna looked at Magnus. "Then why did you insist on sending me to prison back then..."

"It was also to protect you. If I didn't act first and put you behind bars, I was afraid you'd end up dead in the streets. But in the end, I still failed to protect you. You almost lost your life. Senna, can you forgive me? These past three years, I've suffered enough. Come back to me. Let's start over." Magnus's eyes were filled with sincerity as he reached out to hold her hand.

Maxime, who had been obediently silent, saw his hand approaching and immediately smacked it away, his little face full of vigilance and hostility. "Bad Daddy! You're not allowed to touch Mommy!"

The veins on Magnus's forehead twitched again. At this moment, he truly found the little brat an unbearable nuisance.

"Maxime, let's go play, okay?" Tobias quickly stepped in, sensing that the atmosphere was getting unbearably tense. He was also worried that the misunderstandings between his sister and brother-in-law were too deep to resolve.

"Maxime, be good. Go play outside with your uncle." Right now, they needed time alone the most.

"Oh..." Maxime reluctantly jumped off the bed, looking back with every step as he followed Tobias out.

"He's never been away from me for this long since he was born." Senna waved at him softly.

"This is all my fault. I didn't handle things properly, which led to you and our son being apart from me for so long." Finally enjoying some peace, Magnus sat by the bed, held her hand, and gently wiped away her lingering tears, his gaze filled with heartache.

"Then what's the deal with your engagement to Astrid?" She had always thought he was going to marry Astrid. But when Astrid confronted her, she realized that things might not be as simple as they seemed.

"I never said I was going to marry her. She was just deluding herself. I couldn't be bothered to correct her." A trace of contempt and coldness flashed through Magnus's eyes. She should already consider herself lucky that he hadn't torn her apart.

"Magnus, you're so awful. Have you been lying to me this whole time?" The heavy weight that had been pressing on her heart for years finally lifted. Feigning anger, Senna lightly pounded his chest.

"I just love you too much." Magnus caught her hand, pulling her into his embrace. He let out a deep sigh of relief, whispering, "Luckily, you're safe. Otherwise, this time, I would've followed you to the underworld."

The wind decides the direction of a dandelion's journey, just as she decides his sorrow.

"You should've told me the truth earlier. You made me hate you for so long. Do you know how painful it is to hate someone, especially someone you love?" She had spent countless sleepless nights, all because of him.

"I'm sorry. I lacked the confidence. I didn't dare to tell you. I didn't even dare to say a kind word to you for fear that the old man would see through me." In this lifetime, she was the only one who could make him so uncertain. Because he loved her too much, he was terrified of losing her.

Lowering his head, he gently pressed his forehead against hers and murmured, "Senna, let's start over. Let me make it up to you. And now, we have our little one here. You wouldn't want our baby to grow up without a father, would you?"

Magnus's palm softly covered her belly. He had already missed out on Maxime's childhood. No matter what, he wouldn't let it happen again.

Senna shook her head. "No, we can't go back to the past."

"Senna." Magnus looked at her anxiously. "You still can't forgive me? You said that if I saved Tobias, you would forgive me."

Seeing how nervous he was, Senna suddenly chuckled. She grabbed his hand and gently traced the scar on his palm, the wound he had suffered for her. In a soft voice, she said, "We can't go back to the past, but we can have a better future."

Magnus's eyes lit up with joy. He pulled her into his arms, his voice trembling with excitement. "Senna, my dear wife."

"Who's your wife? We're divorced, remember?" Senna wrinkled her nose in disdain, giving him a playful glare.

Magnus laughed. No matter how long it took, he would win her back completely.
