Chapter 823: A Glimmer Of Hope
Upon hearing Taya's name, Griffon's silent heart began to beat rapidly, and a glimmer of light appeared in his dim eyes. "Her message?" "Do you think Taya is dead?"
Griffon's eyes changed rapidly, eventually showing a hint of suspicion. "If you want to negotiate with me using false information about her death, then leave."
Tara and Brooks would not spare Taya, and who would save her, and who could save her?
He didn't believe it, and Matty didn't rush to explain.
He gestured to Dylan with his cigarette-holding hand. "Show him the video."
Dylan understood, took out his phone, and played the video sent by the photographer at the family reunion in front of Griffon.
In the video, Taya was wearing a champagne-colored dress, standing under a pear tree, looking at the crowd, with the breeze gently lifting her skirt.
"This video was taken tonight, and there's a time stamp on it." Griffon couldn't hear Matty's words. His tear-filled eyes were
fixed on the woman in the video. Her face, features, and expression had not changed. It seemed genuine, so... she wasn't dead, was she?
Griffon's eyes gradually turned red as he fought back tears, and his heart ached with each beat, even his palms hurt.
He reached out with trembling fingers to touch the screen, but he didn't have the strength. He tried several times, but his hand fell back down.
He could only slowly look away from the video and towards Dylan, holding the phone. His eyes seemed to ask what was going on.
Dylan, behind the heavy mask, looked at Griffon's red eyes for a moment, feeling a little guilty, but he ignored his confusion and put away the phone, walking expressionlessly to Matty's
side.
Griffon's pleading eyes followed Dylan and then turned to Matty. "Tell me the truth, and I'll agree to your terms."
He didn't even ask what the conditions were, but for Taya, he was willing to agree to anything.
Matty saw that Griffon was also deeply in love with Taya, but unfortunately...
Even though Matty could empathize with Griffon, they were in an adversarial relationship, and with the chip in his brain as the catalyst for Taya's betrayal, so... Matty had to break them apart.
Matty looked at Griffon and spoke calmly. "Brooks pushed her into the sea and then went back to save her."
Matty's tone was casual, as if he were discussing an insignificant matter.
Perhaps his tone was too calm, and Griffon found it hard to believe what he was saying. "How could Brooks save her? He was the one sent to kill Taya. How could he save her?"
It turned out that Taya had told Brooks that she was his biological daughter before they fell into the sea. So that's how it was...
Taya had told Brooks this secret in order to survive, but she didn't expect to be pushed into the sea....
But no matter what, the result was that Brooks's conscience had not been completely extinguished, and he saved her.
This reason was reliable, and in an instant, Griffon was filled with hope. It was as if everything had come back to life, giving him the motivation to live.
He smiled, and for him, as long as Taya was alive, it was the most beautiful thing in the world. In this moment, he even thanked Brooks for saving Taya.
All his hatred dissipated in an instant. Griffon lowered his eyelashes, and the tears in his eyes fell onto the back of his hand.
With the release of his emotions, Griffon's tense nerves relaxed at that moment. He leaned against the wall, and his rigid body softened.
"I've told you that Taya is alive. Now, let's hear my terms," Matty's aged voice fell on Griffon's ears, causing him to slowly suppress his emotions. "What are your conditions?"
When he looked up again, his sharp eyes were now cold and clear.
Matty raised an eyebrow slightly. "Do you want to see her?"
Griffon thought that Taya had fallen into the hands of 1-1.
His heart, which had just relaxed, tightened again, but he forcibly stabilized his mind and looked at Matty, who was motionless.
"What do you think?" Griffon's indifferent eyes seemed to mock Matty's question. Matty's deliberate question was just a prelude to what he was about to say. "Tomorrow, I will release you and restore your 2-9 status. At that time, I will let you meet Taya." Upon hearing this, Griffon'sconfusion deepened. "Why do you want to restore my status?"
What did the man with the full-face mask want to do?Matty ignored Griffon' question and continued to present his conditions.
"After you meet her, you cannot tell Taya that Erebus restricts your personal freedom, nor can you tell her about the chip in your brain. You must also act as if nothing has happened, maintaining your undercover identity as 2-9, and not disclose the forced unmate and our knowledge of your identity."
Griffon, after a moment of contemplation, suddenly realized something from Matty's words. His eyes, filled with frost, slowly lifted to meet the black mask.
"Are you related to Taya? Only such a relationship wo 1-1 fear that Taya would know about the ordeal suffered in Erebus." you hav
Griffon' sharp insight caused Matty's fingers, resting on his thigh, to tremble subconsciously.
"Since you have guessed, I won't hide it from you. I saw Taya on the surveillance and found her resemblance to my she-wolf. I conducted a DNA test, and the results showed that she is my granddaughter."
Upon realizing this, Griffon' eyes dimmed. "You want me to keep it from her because you fear she will turn against you due to the chip in my brain?"
"You are very clever," Matty praised Griffon without hesitation.
Griffon, in turn, smirked coldly. "You finally found her, and yet you are so cruel to her. You should cherish her, shouldn't you?"
Matty did not comment on Griffon' words, but he extended his hand, wearing protective gloves, and pointed at Griffon' head.
"The chip in your brain is a time bomb. You never know when it will infect and kill you. If Taya finds out that you died because of this, she will never forgive me."
Griffon' heart sank. He had a brain tumor and had the chip installed. Even if it were removed, the toxins left in his brain would spread upon surgery.
He was willing to bear the burden of a short life alone, rather than let Taya suffer from his impending death.
Matty, looking at the man who had not stood up from the beginning, exuded an oppressive aura even while seated. "You can refuse, but you will never see Taya again."
Griffon, upon hearing this, smirked with a hint of mockery. "If I am not mistaken, she has discovered your identity and knows that you are the founder of Erebus. Unable to hide it, you can only agree to let her meet me."
Matty, who had rushed to see him in the middle of the night and presented these conditions, was undoubtedly trying to silence him after Taya discovered his identity. Griffon saw through Matty's intentions, causing Matty to feel a bit annoyed but also impressed by Griffon' perceptiveness.
Matty was not in a rush, as he knew that Griffon would eventually agree to his conditions due to his longing for Taya.
"It is true that Taya discovered my identity, which is why I came to negotiate with you. You should be clear about the purpose of my negotiation, right?"
Griffon' indifferent gaze passed over the black-clad figure in front of him and rested on the glass chambers lined up in the biochemistry area.
"You will not let go of your hatred for S, and I also seek revenge for the members. The conflict between us will not cease, so you do not want me to be with her."
