Chapter 218: This Farce Finally Comes to an End

Gavin finally arrived.

But given the current situation, even his arrival wouldn't help much. Molly was in Brenda's hands.

Just as she thought this, a group of people in suits followed him in. They surrounded the house and seized Sebastian, who was sitting on the ground.

Gavin came up to her.

Then, under Brenda and Sebastian's stunned gaze, all those bodyguards shouted in unison, "Ms. Grayson!"

What was going on?

Cecilia was completely confused.

But now wasn't the time to ask about irrelevant matters. Molly was still hanging at the window, her life hanging by a thread.

She anxiously pleaded, "Gavin, save Molly!"

"Don't worry, I've already made arrangements downstairs. There are also armed police outside the wall. Molly won't fall."

Hearing that Gavin had made arrangements, Cecilia's heart, which had been about to jump out of her chest, finally settled down a bit.

Seeing this scene, Brenda asked coldly, "Who are you people, coming here to meddle in other people's business?"

"My sister is being threatened by you, and my niece is about to be thrown off the building by you. How is this meddling?"

Gavin's cold expression resembled Ethan's quite a bit.

Cecilia was shocked by his words.

Gavin was her brother? How was that possible?

"This bitch has been married into the Hughes Family for so many years, how come I didn't know she had a brother? Isn't he her lover?" Brenda mocked fearlessly. "Sebastian, see? She's just a slut!"

Sebastian glared viciously at Cecilia. "Cecilia, you can't live without men, can you?"

Cecilia shot back mercilessly, "Sebastian, my business is none of your concern!"

After saying this, she looked at Brenda again. "Put Molly down now, or else—"

Although Cecilia wanted to trust Gavin's arrangements, she couldn't gamble with Molly's life.

"At this point, even if I let Molly go, you won't let me off. So why don't I drag your daughter down with me and make you suffer? Wouldn't that be nice?"

As she spoke, she looked like she was about to let go.

Cecilia was so frightened that she quickly raised her hand and shouted, "No!"

She looked at the balcony she had designed herself and deeply regretted not making a fully enclosed railing, instead leaving a one-person gap on one side for servicing the outdoor air conditioning unit.

"I'll come over and switch with her. You just agreed!" Cecilia demanded.

Gavin immediately called out worriedly, "Cecilia!"

Cecilia looked at him and, seeing his worried face, forced a smile. "I trust your arrangements. Even if I really fall, I'll be fine!"

Hearing this, Brenda showed an evil smile. "Alright, come over and switch!"

Cecilia walked toward Brenda without hesitation. When there was about a meter left, she stopped and demanded, "Put Molly down!"

Brenda wasn't stupid either. After thinking for a moment, she questioned, "You have so many people here. If you struggle, I won't be able to control you."

Cecilia gritted her teeth. "What do you want?"

"Have them tie your hands and feet and push you over," Brenda demanded.

Gavin felt uneasy and was unwilling to cooperate.

Brenda said impatiently, "What, you don't want to? Then I'll push Molly down right now. The building is so high, even with protection, her little arms and legs can't take the fall."

This was exactly what Cecilia was worried about, which was why she didn't dare risk Molly's safety.

"I'm willing. I'll tie myself up right now." As she spoke, she picked up a shoelace from the shoe cabinet, trying to tie her own hands.

Seeing her like this, Gavin had no choice but to help. "Be careful!"

"Okay!"

Only when Brenda had grabbed Cecilia did she put Molly down from the balcony.

Gavin handed the unconscious Molly to a bodyguard and was about to rush over to save Cecilia when Brenda suddenly pulled out a dagger from somewhere and, gripping Cecilia, stabbed straight toward her heart.

Cecilia's hands were tied, but her body could move. She reacted quickly and shifted to the side, hoping to avoid vital areas. However, she never expected that this knife didn't land on her body but instead stabbed into Sebastian's back.

He had blocked this blow for her, his face showing an expression Cecilia couldn't understand.

Brenda froze for a second, then quickly pulled out the dagger, letting Sebastian fall to the ground. She then viciously stabbed at Cecilia again. Unable to dodge in time, the dagger pierced Cecilia's arm.

At this moment, Gavin and the others finally rushed over and restrained the crazed Brenda.

Blood was everywhere on the balcony, impossible to tell whose it was.

In the second before she passed out, Cecilia seemed to see a tall figure rushing toward her. Unfortunately, before she could see Gavin's face clearly, she couldn't hold on any longer and fainted.

Half a month later, River City Court publicly tried an intentional murder case. A series of surveillance videos, witness testimonies, and physical evidence were presented. With solid evidence, Brenda and Sebastian were sentenced—one to life imprisonment, the other to twenty-five years.

Besides assault, both were also involved in economic crimes. Their company, Prime Group, had evaded taxes and even forged contracts and qualifications. After they were convicted, the company was directly shut down.

On the day of sentencing, Ruby went to visit Samuel. In the visiting room, she cursed Samuel out, then went crazy on the spot and was sent to a psychiatric hospital.

The Hughes Family drama finally came to an end.

After hearing Sophie's account in the hospital, Cecilia couldn't help but sigh.

This family got what they deserved.

Sophie glanced at the hospital room door and asked curiously, "Is Gavin really your brother?"

"He says so. You know, I have no memory from before ninth grade!"

"So are you planning to return to the Grayson Family?"

Cecilia shook her head. "That's a complicated mess just like the Campbell Family. Right now I just want to take Molly and live a simple, peaceful life with my parents."

Sophie smiled slightly, then asked gossipily, "What about Ethan? You're not going to have him either?"

"I can't afford him!"

"Alright then, let's not think about those things. After you recover, when you leave the hospital, you must spend good time with Molly. Although she wasn't seriously injured, she was severely traumatized. I'm afraid it'll take a long time for her to recover."

Cecilia nodded. Every time she thought about that day, she felt terrified.

If Brenda had been any crazier, she might never have seen Molly again.

At the hospital room door, Gavin and Ethan heard every word of the conversation inside.

Gavin, holding an unlit cigarette, said gleefully, "Hey, Cecilia doesn't want you!"

Ethan glanced at him speechlessly. "You say that like she wants you!"

"That's because she knows someone in the Grayson Family wants to harm her, so she doesn't want to go back. Once I go back and clear out all those people, she'll definitely be willing to come back with me!"

Ethan raised an eyebrow and said mercilessly, "If they were that easy to clear out, how would she have been abandoned in the first place? If they hadn't mistakenly identified the Nelson Family's child as her, making the real Cecilia a scapegoat, she would have been the one burned to death back then."
