Chapter 94: The Impostor
Taggart turned to Tamara, who was approaching his desk. Tamara sat next to Taggart, smiling beautifully and wearing a beautiful dress for dinner.
"Thank you for wanting to have dinner with me," said Taggart, welcoming Tamara. Tamara smiled her best smile. He nodded in understanding. Taggart was starting to melt down. At least, this is Tamara's chance to get closer to the next Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack. That dinner was just an ordinary dinner for Taggart. He asked her to talk about his and Pearl's problems.
“I like her and sometimes don't realize I may hurt her. I just want to be close and start a lasting relationship with her," said Taggart, starting to talk about his love story. Taggart thinks of it more like consultation time, only more relaxed with dinner. Meanwhile, Tamara has a different view.
“All men who fall in love, on average, experience the same experience,” Tamara responded relaxedly.
“So, you think humans and werewolves are the same? I mean, it's like you're talking about humans," Tamara laughed at Taggart, who responded as usual. Taggart didn't smile because he didn't think it was something funny to laugh at.
“I think you are too arrogant, Tagg. You thought that there was no human side to a werewolf like you. You are in human form just like any other normal man, right?”
“I just want Pearl to see me like that. If she thinks I'm like a monster. It will be difficult for us to live together,” Taggart replied worriedly. Tamara still smiled and then nodded. He raised his glass and took a slow sip.
"This is the first time I have met an Alpha candidate who wants to be an ordinary human rather than a very powerful being. I don't think that's something the Silver Moon Pack wants from you, Tagg.”
Taggart raised his chin, looking at Tamara a little curtly. He let out an annoyed sigh afterward. Before long, Taggart also took a sip of his drink. Tamara could see that Taggart was very offensive. He is so dominant that he doesn't want to be bound by rules he doesn't like.
"For me, you have to stay like Taggart without changing yourself into someone else so that Pearl will like you. What if she changes for you? wouldn't that be better?” Tamara again gave her idea. Taggart glanced again at Tamara. He paused for a moment before coming closer and telling a little secret.
“Pearl and I have it. I've marked her, Tamara. She is already mine.”
Tamara lost her best smile. She still wore a thin smile as if she didn't want to be seen as a disappointment.
"Oh, isn't the peak mating season next week?” Taggart nodded again.
“I should have done it earlier.”
“Did she receive you well? Didn't she reject you?” Tamara asked more and more questions. Even though Taggart couldn't recognize Tamara's tone well, Tamara showed her well-disguised annoyance.
"No," Taggart answered truthfully.
"I don't think she dares to oppose it." Taggart's brows frowned now.
"What do you mean?"
“Pearl is an ordinary girl. She only had a human's intuition. Do you know what that is?” Taggart shook his head as if he was stunned. Tamara explains something that influences Taggart's opinion of Pearl. She did it so gently that Taggart didn't notice.
“Man only believes what he sees as fact. Even though creatures like us exist, humans consider us magical, mystical, and scary creatures. That's why the elders want us to only mate with immortals, not mortals.” Tamara explained while inserting a bit of arrogance into the sentences she said. Taggart was still listening quietly. Maybe if someone else spoke, he would be angry. But this time, he heard to Tamara.

Briana bravely faced Everest without realizing that the man in front of her was a Gamma from the strongest werewolf pack on earth. When she insulted Taggart Kellent, Briana didn't care about the consequences. Everest finally snorted softly and smiled at Briana. Briana smiled innocently and continued eating.
"So she's okay now?" Everest reassured the information Briana provided. Briana nodded as she chewed. She noticed that Everest had not started eating at all. Her eyes narrowed at Everest suspiciously.
“Why do you want to know all this? Are you looking for a way to escape prosecution?” Briana asked bravely.
“Lawsuit?”
“Yes, you guys have made a fake analysis on Pearl. Doesn't that mean Pearl can sue the hospital?”
“You mean The Kellent Center?”
"Yes. Your boss's hospital made a mistake by making a false diagnosis," Everest immediately frowned. He shook his head.
"That is not true. I think this is a misunderstanding." Everest also denied this.
“I'm telling the truth, Mr. Leon. I don't know what Taggart wanted from Pearl. Pearl is fine, yet he has almost ordered his doctor to perform an unnecessary operation on her. What if malpractice occurs? Or maybe you guys want to kill my sister on purpose?"
“Miss Briana, I think you have gone too far. There was no malpractice or attempt to kill Pearl. Mr. Taggart Kellent loves your sister very much, and he tries hard to protect her all the way. You don't know anything!” Everest is now arguing against Briana. Briana and Everest became increasingly annoyed with each other. Moreover, Briana openly accused Taggart of the impossible.
“You'd better tell your boss to stay away from Pearl from now on. She always gets into trouble if she gets close to Taggart Kellent. Why doesn't he look for someone else? He is rich and can get any girl.” Briana drank her drink until it was finished, then half-slammed the glass. Quickly, she raised his hand to call the waiter.
"What are you doing?" asked Everest, who saw Briana asking for the bill for dinner.
“I want to pay.”
"But, I already said I would pay for it," Everest argued and refused.
"No need. I don't need your money.” Pearl put several bills on the table and immediately left Everest. Briana looked very angry even though it wasn't Everest's fault. Everest turned around and frowned strangely at Briana, who just left the restaurant.
“Jezz, I have to tell this to Mr. Taggart.” Everest quickly reached for his cell phone.
In a different place, Taggart is still enjoying dinner with Tamara. Tamara still tries to influence Taggart if his decision to maintain his relationship with Pearl is something he will regret. At that moment, Everest was interrupted by a call.
"Ev?"
“Sir, I have got news from the hospital. They cancelled the operation.” Taggart's forehead suddenly furrowed.
"What did you say?" said Taggart, raising his voice.
“Yeah, I just talked to Briana. She's Miss Pearl's sister. She told me that our hospital made a misdiagnosis. Pearl Rosenthal has recovered. She didn’t have any broken bones or bleeding.”
Taggart was shocked to hear Everest's report. Tamara continued to watch Taggart. He knew that Taggart's assistant had called. Still, he seemed to have reasons to be jealous and dislike him.
“W-What?”
“I think we should talk to the team doctor. If the Rosenthal family files a lawsuit, it will be bad, sir.”
"Impossible. How could she? There's no way Pearl would lie to me!” Taggart even responded with a different opinion.
"What? What do you mean, sir? Do you think Pearl Rosenthal is lying about her broken ribs?” Everest even raised a surprised voice and asked Taggart. Taggart fell silent and took several short breaths.
"I don't understand. Ev, please look for more information. I will be there,"
“No, don't. You better not come here. They won't take you well, believe me.” Everest responded quickly to ban Taggart. Taggart became increasingly annoyed and immediately hung up the phone.
Taggart's behavior became increasingly strange. He was getting more and more restless. Previously, Taggart wanted to visit Pearl, so he sent Everest first to gauge the situation. His steps made him even more shocked. Tamara brought herself closer, her hand touching Taggart's hand, making him flinch.
“What's wrong, Tagg? What happened?" Taggart turned to Tamara, and his face looked very worried.
“Pearl, she,” Taggart hesitated if he should speak. Tamara was still silent, staring at Taggart, patiently waiting for him to speak.
“I think there was a mistake,” Taggart finished his sentence.
“What mistake?” Tamara asked back.
“Misdiagnosis. Now, she doesn't have surgery because she turns out to be fine. There were no broken bones or internal bleeding. What happened? Could the doctors at the Kellent Center have made a mistake?”
Tamara frowned, then shook her head. She gasped in disbelief. Instead of believing that there had been a misdiagnosis, Tamara presented a different opinion.
“You can't accuse the doctors at your hospital of making mistakes, Tagg. They are the best doctors in the whole country. Your company has already paid handsomely for their work. I think this is just a lie!”
"What do you mean?"
“A patient may lie about her condition. A plot to frame you and bring down the Kellent family!” Tamara answered bravely. Taggart was stunned when he heard this statement.
"Let's say if it’s leaked out, do you think The Kellent Center hospital, which has helped millions of people, would be safe? I didn't expect that the Pearl Rosenthal you love could do all that."
