Chapter 17
~Vlad~
“Right.” I nodded and took a swig of the glass, what Xylan said was right.
“She must be somewhere in the pack, find the girl. She would have a lead on whoever took my sons.” I gritted my teeth and staggered up to my feet.
“I’m going to drive. You brought the car?”
I nodded and held unto the wall for support, and shakes my head as if to get the alcohol off. Such little things shouldn’t hold me down.
“We don’t have much time, Xylan.”
“I know, Alpha. I know.”
“Have you thought of how you would react if you see them?”
I have thought of it a thousand times but I still do not know how I’m to react when I meet my sons.
I have taken all their pictures from Samara’s phone to mine. I stared at them every night and these feelings set in my stomach each time I watch them.
It gets me excited, sad, and angry.
“What if they don’t even want me?” I stopped walking and stared at Xylan over my shoulders.
“When you be the hero and step in to rescue them, I doubt if any child won’t want that. Why won’t they accept you, you’re...well. There is something good about you.”
My face turned into a scowl and Xylan chuckled.
“I heard Nica was here, you rejected her offer to help the pack with some amenities and some warriors.”
“We do not need them, Xylan.”
We stepped out of the section.
“Hope there wouldn’t be any need to worry.” He stared on our way out.
“Why do you say that?” I halted in my track and before Xylan could reply another voice came up from behind us and we both turned, facing the narrow face of Hector.
“Alpha Vlad, I didn’t know you would be here today, I would have requested a drink together. Leaving so soon?”
I clenched my jaw and my fist together.
“I see no reason to have a drink with you, Hector.”
He grinned, showing off his upper teeth.
I could hear the music still booming and ricocheting off the walls as I leaned on the car.
“You do not have to be so harsh, Alpha.”
I hissed and opened the car door.
“Let’s go, Xylan.”
He stepped forward and extended his hand towards me, it held a card on it when he saw I refused to take them. He hands them over to Xylan.
“It’s an invite,”
“I’m not interested.” I stepped into the car and shut the door in his face.
“I’ll see you then.” He waves at her car, with one hand and the other tucked in his pocket.
“Drive, Xylan,” I uttered grinding my teeth while staring at him.
“Yes, Alpha. I like his charisma.”
“He’s stupid what makes him think he could always challenge me or talk to me as his please, he should know his place.”
I leaned on the car seat as Xylan drove.
“He’s a lot of people on his side, he’s seen as a philanthropist.”
I scoffed and took my gaze out the window.
“All I see is a man of pretense.”
“Or you just don’t like him, I don’t see anything wrong with him other than the aura around him that sets me off most time. I think he’s a...”
“You came from the wood didn’t you, how are the warriors that were wounded doing? Are there any changes in the border?” I cut him off, I do not want to hear more about Hector or anything that was related to him.
“No, not at all. The warriors are recovering very fine. You should check the invite, Hector seems so confident that you’re gonna be there.” He stretched his hand to me, which held the card.
I folded my hands without taking them.
Xylan sighed and withdrew his hand.
“I forgot, you’re such a proud Alpha.” He grumbled.
“You’re my Beta, look into it and tell me what it’s about.” I took my gaze away from the window.
“I had the marriage postponed to a month, we have to find the kids first before anything else. And earlier today, Samara received a strange call, someone threatened to kill her, she said he uses something that changes his voice.” I rested my hand on my lap.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about it, it has to be someone she knows.”
Xylan stared at me through the mirror.
“It could be someone we all know.” He muttered. I nodded agreeing with him and that got me to my next question.
“But why?”
“Why the triplets?”
“Yes.”
Xylan thoughts for a while before he spoke.
“Because they are the ones she cherished with her life, you saw how desperate she was when she came to the pack. She was ready to do anything for them. I think whoever kidnapped the children, knows that as well.”
Xylan was right.
I placed my hand over my jaw but the problem was finding who hated Samara to the point of doing this to her.
Who was the man? Or was it a woman?
My eyes were almost closing when Xylan parked the car and opened the door for me. I stepped out, with my hand over his shoulders. My eyes were spinning a little, I thought I could hold that much.
“Did you drink, you reek of alcohol.” Samara crinkled her nose at me. Xylan led me to the couch and I sat my ass down, grinning foolishly at Samara.
“It seems you have all the time in the world, Vlad!” She clunks and takes her gaze away from my face.
“I only had a few sips.”
“Yeah, Yeah.” She replied mockingly without staring at me. I watched her side view while she talks to Xylan.
I think I was the only one getting feelings, it was obvious, it was a one-sided love from my end.
Fuck.
She exchanged a few words with Xylan and my eyes were starting to close up, where I sat on the couch. Xylan left afterward and I heard her foot step as she came close to me, staring at my face. My eyes were half opened as I watch her when she was about to leave, I held her hand and pulled her back into me, her body crushed against my chest and her lips smashed against mine.
